  1. looks like i shut down the topic. :)

anyway, i get the following message when i try to login to the nvc site:

"•Please be advised that the case that you have attempted to access is not eligible for further processing by the National Visa Center at this time. Please click on the Contact the NVC hyperlink if you believe that you have received this message in error."

Is that what people mean when they say "login failed" in there signiture or is this something else?

  2. Hi everybody. I had received an RFE for my mom's case stating that the birth certificates i had submitted were not from the appropriate authority. After much struggle, i was able to get mine but my mom's birth certificate was never registerd so i sent in a letter from the issuing authority that the birth certificates are not available plus sent in copies of her school records showing her date of birth. i hope they accept it. I was wondering what the usual turn around time was for RFE being looked at and case getting approved?

    thank you

  3. Hi all,

I submitted birth certificates for my mom's immigration case that the pakistani consulate had issued to me and my mom and they were rejected by NVC saying that they need to come from the registrar or births and deaths or the director of health services. The ridiculus thing is that the same certificates were accepted by USCIS for my citizenship case and for the I-130 filling for my mom. I think the issue here is just that they have not seen any like the ones i submitted and they have a problem with that. I don't even think that there are such authorities as direcotr of health services or registrar of births and deaths in pakistan to begin with. Is there another pakistani applicant here who can advise as to where i need to get these done from that these walk-the-line dumb idiots would accept?

    Any help is greatly appreciated...

    thank you,

  4. Do you suggest any place for photo in karachi and bahawalpur?

no idea. Like i said you should call the US consulate/embessy and ask them what place they recommend. Thats what I did.

I am also getting affidavat for my wife inleiu of birth certificate. She was born in saudi arabia and unable to get her bc from anywhere in pakistan.

No idea again. For this one, call NVC and see what they say or ask others here and see what response you get from people who have similar cases

. She lives in same district but two different cities therefore I will need one police character certificate, right?

You will need TWO. one from each address. One for each address. you will see what i mean when you see the form. there is only one address line on it (at least the islamabad and mianwali one's) . One for each address since she was 16 years old and if she lived at the address for more than 6 months

Should I have her send me all the original document to send with nvc?

YES. you will need to send in originals + a copy set of all documents.

Where should I certified/Attested the documents in pakistan?

Now this is just a guess but gazetted officers have the ability to attest documents. Again call NVC or embessy in pk to find out exactly who's documents they accept.

Good luck and hope you go through this without problems. its not very difficult and you should be fine. the only thing is the hassle of getting the docs together.

  5. Hi vega11,

Could you please tell me what did you send to nvc in your IV package? I filled for my wife and will need to send all the document too.

    Thans

Following is a list of what should be COMMON in our cases and some help on where to get the docs from in PK. THIS NOT THE COMPLETE LIST OF STUFF YOU WILL NEED TO SEND!!!. You will need other things like the nikah nama (translated in English and certified somehow) etc. Please check with other people on the forum to find out what you will need in addition to the following.

    1. Cover page printed out from the NVC site after you have paid your IV bill.

    2. Your own cover letter listing the contents of the entire IV package so that the docs are easy to find for the reviewer.

3: Form DS-230 with part I and II complete but with part I signed only. Do not sign part 2. You will need to fill it out and then send this to her by mail and get her to sign it and return it to you.

    4. Copy of Applicant’s passport (Biographic Pages). Make sure it is not expiring any time soon. If it is, might as well get a new one while you work on getting other docs done.

    5. Applicant’s original birth certificate in English or translated and certified in English. Make sure she has both her parent's name on it.

    6. Applicant’s original police clearance certificates(sometimes they call them character certificates) from each police station under who's area she has lived since her age was 16 AND lived there for more than 6 months, including foreign countries. Pain to get, especially if your wife lived in a smaller city since she was 16. I think the way the process works is that you have to go to each local police station and get the form filled out( The local stations should have the forms if not, get them from the SP's office) and then take it to the SP's office and get it stamped. If she lived in the same district but in different places you will need a form done from each address she lived at and then take all of them to the sp's office to get them stamped. The big problem ofcourse is getting the "Thula's" to do something on time) .Another tricky part is that these certificates are valid for 2 to 3 months. you want to get them quick but you don't want to get them too early!. These could take anywhere from 3 days to 2-3 weeks. lots of pleading, begging the thula's to sign and stamp them as you can probably guess...

    7. Copy of Petitioner’s US passport (Biographic page)

8: Petitioner’s original birth certificate. if you have one from pk, you will have to make sure it is in english or its translated and certified. Otherwise, the easiest way to get it is through the nearest pk consulate in US. costs like 10 bucks. tell them to make you a couple of copies. take cash with you they only accept money orders and they have western union money order service at the consulate (atleast the one in ny does). Be ready to spend the whole day there if you don't live close to the city with a consulate. You go in and submit the form by 11:00 AM and then come back @ 4 PM to pick it up. take your pakistani passport with you). Make sure you have both parents name on it.

You can do it by mail but i'd rather go in and get it done instead of expecting them to send it back in time by mail.

9: Three photograph’s of the applicant. (2 required i sent one extra. Call the US embassy in PK and ask them where to get the photo's done from and then get them done from their suggested location)

Send a copy SET of all the docs you send to them. that is a requirement.

    Good luck!

  6. Finally I have all the docs ready to ship for the DS-230. Here is what I am sending. Can someone please confirm that I am not missing anything?

    1. Form DS-230 with part I and II complete with part I signed only.

    2. Copy of Applicant’s passport (Biographic Pages)

    3. Applicant’s original birth certificate

    4. Three applicant’s original police certificates (police Clearance certificates)

    5. Applicant’s spouse’s original death certificate

    6. Copy of Petitioner’s US passport (Biographic page)

    7: Petitioner’s original birth certificate

    8: Petitioner’s original marriage certificate

9: Copy set of all documents listed above.

10: Three photograph’s of the applicant.

    Thanks!

  7. I-864 accepted! Now if only my brother can send me the DS-230 and associated documentation we can move forward.

    Anyway,

2: Photocopy of my mom's passport (biographic page)

3: Original Birth certificate of my mom + photcopy

    4: 4 photographs of benificiary

  8. My mom (beneficiary) received the following e-mail today:

"The NVC has received the Agent of Choice selection. The Immigrant Visa Application (DS 230) processing fee bill will be sent to the designated agent on the case. The fee must be paid according to the instructions before the instruction packet will be sent."

I logged into the website and I noticed that the DS-230 bill can be paid. Should I pay it now or should I wait until I receive an from them to go ahead and pay it?

  9. thanks guys.

Raj i took that line as saying showing total earnings in the past six months or sort of YTD earnings which is on the stub i am sending them. I ll just send the most recent since its not required just an extra...

I ll be sending the following with the I-864. please let me know if I am missing something

Copies of tax returns from the past 2 years

Most recent pay stub showing YTD income, taxes and yearly salary

Original employment letter stating my position title and yearly salary.

    Copies of W-2

As far as I-864 form is concerned, i am not mentioning any other household income(including my wife's) besides my income which should be more than sufficient to meet their requirements. Please let me know if I should add other incomes.

  10. My brother is here on a student visa. I am a US citizen and I want to submit a immigrant petition for him. Would he have to go back to the home country if his student visa is up and his immigration petition has not gone through? or can he stay here until his immigration visa is approved?

My other brother is in pakistan. I want to sponser him as well but I am not sure if I should wait for my mom to file for him when she becomes a US citizen(Her case is in process at this time) or file for him myself right now?

They are both over 21 but would suffer extreme hardship on their own in Pakistan. Is there any way their processing times could be expidated?
