We just renewed our 2 son's passports a couple of months ago. Very painless and we had the passports back within 2 weeks (I think it was about a week actually)

Hi, What did you do about countersignatories?

We havent been here 2 years and so dont know anyone who has known me personally for at least 2 years. My daughter need s her passport renewing for 1st april when we visit the UK, so was thinking about getting one of her teachers to sign it.

Any ideas on what to do?

It seems like i've not been here in like forever, moving and trying to find work can be so time consuming. Anyway i check the USCIS website last night and my green card for myself and my daughter was ordered on the 23rd June, so guess were are finally approved. So have updated my time line accordingly. It has seemed to have taken forever. For those still waiting, I hope the wait isn't much longer for you, and for those who have got there's already Congrats

Ok i have just had my paperwork returned stating that i didnt send the correct fee.

Lemme check as when i checked the website it states :-

Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status I-485 $930 plus a biometrics fee of $80; the fee total is $1,010. Exceptions listed below. There is no fee for applicants who are filing Form I-485 based on having been admitted to the United States as a refugee. Applicants 80 years of age or older are not charged a biometric fee; the fee total is $930. Applicants under 14 years of age: - Filing with the I-485 application of at least one parent have a fee total of $600 - Not filing with the I-485 application of at least one parent have a fee total of $930

so there is me and my 11 year old daughter

i calculated this as $1010 + her 600 giving a total of $1610.

Is it me, or is it them????

Just got back from the DMV and i am officially a Maryland driver! Yaaaay!!!! This time i remembered to actually STOP al all STOP signs

And the best part is that the DL has my new name on it! I guess there is a reason why i did not pass it the first time...so i can have it in my new name! Not because i am a dumbass Romanian who can't read STOP signs...

It is a nice feeling to have your first document with your married name on it

Congrats Aleena - isnt the maryland driving test a blast - mine took 10 mins and i was nervous as hell as didnt know what to expect as the maryland mva is rather lacking in information

Sent my paperwork off on friday, damn what a lot of paper i had to send for me and my daughter.

well heres wishing everyone good look with AOS and hope it goes smoothly.

I did my test last week in Maryland and WOW I was surprised at how simple it was - it was a controlled course, just learners taking there test with a reverse in a box - stop at stop sign - reverse straight - parallel park and cross a road and park. think it took me about 10 minutes. I took mine in an automatic that i was renting which made it even easier. I have now bought a manual car and keep trying to change gears with the wrong hand (lol) good job i dont have window winders as would prolly end up opening and closing the windows instead of changing gears.

but seriously, if you can learn to drive a manual car then thats a lot better as you will then be able to drive any car anywhere, automatics drive themselves all you do is brake and steer which takes all the fun out of driving

Look up the website for the dmv in the state you will be living and you should be able to find out the system for new drivers and out of country drivers.

Damn reading this link had made me feel hungry esp for a nice keema balti with a cheese nan, or even chicken tikka with salad in a roti ( drools ) . Guess i was spoiled living the other end of stoney lane in Birmingham was spoilt for choice, guess now i;ve had my bacon buttie i will start on seeing if i can find a descent curry here.

there are a few shipping threads in here tht should give you some idea of who people have used in the past and what they thought.

Personally after weighing things up over cost of shipping and replacing, most the stuff i decided to replace, and only shipped 4 boxes of personal items.

Reading online articles, it seems like leaving on the skin is a southern thing. I'll recommend that Bradford place to my folks in Halifax, as my mum says she has yet to find anywhere there that does decent fish suppers.

I love how they do fish suppers in Edinburgh with brown sauce..

There was some slight damage to one of the boxes - but all in all wasnt too bad.

I'm going to pick up my boxes today, i'll let you guys know how it goes. I'm clearing customs myself, so I hope it won't be too... interesting.

I thought Jumbo turkey legs were weird when i went to the state fair on sunday - they were huge - am only used to nice little chicken legs, and wouldnt know where to start on one of those monsters. and hmmm chocolate my local giant store sells mint aeros and some other chocolates so those are keeping me happy atm.

Ohh and me and my daughter moved last wednesday and have been rolling around on the floor in pain ever since due to severe ear infection so miss not being able to just ring up my doctor and saying arghhhh i need an appointment give me meds

I got an email from the guy at the embassy yesterday ( so looks like they got back monday - woot woot ) to say mine was approved on monday so now to wait on the SMS courier

When i had my interview at london - took loads of stuff with me and was just asked a few general questions on how we met what he does - a very general conversation really. I wasnt asked to provide anything else relating to our on going relationship.
