  1. Hi. I am about to file my N400 application in the fall. I had several question:

    1. I had plan to change my first name (just reverse my first and middle name) for the longest time. My wife and I were not able to get around to do that. But we are going to initiate my name change after Naturalization, do I need to report it to USCIS?

    2. Should I change my name before I apply for a US passport?

    3. Should I change my name at my home country (I plan on to have dual citizenship)? can I have two set of passports (US and my home country) with 2 different names?

    4. If there are anything I need to know that I miss?

    Thank you

  2. KristyVQT, thanks for your reply. No wondernyour case got approved so fast. You did overwhelm them with a lot of documents :)

Silverfai, Congratulations! What is the date on your approval letter? And has your online status on USCIS website changed at all after you got a Letter?

Hi, the letter was dated 22nd. We got the letter today. The online system showed no update since our biometric. Hope that helps.

  3. Hello USCIS petitioners:

I have a question and it's stressing me out. I hope you guys can help me out.

okay. I have filed I 751 with my company attorney. After filing, I forgot the fact that we have moved. And we didn't file AR-11. We noticed after we received a letter of I 751 reminder. USCIS sent it to my old address.

I have filed for I 751 for 2 weeks and no NOA letter have received yet? What should I do?

  4. Hi beng_and_carl

Thank you for your respond. I have an attorney to help to do the filing. I am not sure if they have received the NOA and if the checks were cashed.

One quick question thou, I have moved after I received my greencard. I didn't receive AR-11 form until after we filed. Would that be the hold up?

I am start getting concerned and worried. Please help!

  5. My work is going to send me to Mexico for a week. I will be traveling to Mexico during the day and return to the states (El Paso, tx) to stay because it is safer. I am a GC holder and I have a british passport. My passport does not require visa to travel to Mexico. When I return to the states each time during these several nights, will they stamp my passport each time?

Is my passport and GC are the only thing they will need to inspect in US custum?? Anything else I will need.

I have been told I need to fill in the FNM form when I am in Mexico immigration.

    anything else I am missing?!?!

    Thank you!!!

  7. So, we are coming back to the US from our trip with my wife. We had our interview late December, and we left before we got my GC. Anyway, we had the I551 stamp in our passport which is a proof for the permanent residency. No big deal.

So we got to the immigration in DFW airport (Dallas). We are in the counter and the officer ask where my green card is. I said the stamp is my temp GC. Then, he asked where my old card was. #######? I told him i just became a LPR. Then, he didn't pay much attention what we said and gives back the passport to my wife and took us to a room to wait with other ppl. Of course, not cool.

Apparently, it was a room for ppl that are not worth trusting or something else?! or something? Anyway, after 30 minutes later, the officer in that little room called out my name. Then she asked where's my GC. I was trying to tell her my story and she said she doesn't care. Okay. Long story short, I told her my GC is in the mail and we haven't got to that yet. She then asked what's first name of my parents and my SSN. Then she let me go. Pretty lame...

I think I551 stamp works, but not as good as a real GC. Good luck traveling.

I got my GC after I got home, so it's all good.

  8. I-551 = GREEN-CARD.

You can travel with just passport and I-551 stamp, later after getting the actual card you then need to carry passport and green-card when returning from a trip abroad.

Green-card holders are US Residents, they do not need an I-94 in passport, and do not need to fill one out when returning to the USA.

You use the permanent resident/Citizens line at POE when re entering the USA

Got it. Thank you for sharing. appreciate your help

  9. Approved today. Yeah!

Interview last 45-60 minutes. The lady was lay back. She asked some basic question to my wife and then me. Nothing special. She was taking notes the whole time. Then we showed her some evidence and all. She took the car title, electric bill, tax return and a picture of us. But she did not ask for the medical exam, employer letter etc. And we didn't bring that up either. It took her some times to make copies of our evidence and her computer things screwed up; other than that, we could have been even sooner. No big deal thou.

we have a lot a lot of paperwork, the officer said it really helps when couples came and prepared. It really shows she said. We have double than the ppl were waiting for their interview. Anyway... Since we are going oversea next week, she asked her supervisor to see can she got us a I551 stamps. And she did.

now, I am done for a lil while. But I will stick around to give support and advise if needed.

Again, thank you. Go me and my wife (j/k lol)

  10. Lil' nervous guys.

interview on Dec 11. wow. Cant imagine it is happening. have been a long 10 months wait.

We have everything that on the list stated on the interview letter. Birth certificates, lease, bills, W2s, medical exams sealed envelope, employment letters, insurance, assets, etc etc.

As far as pictures, we have a photo album with 120 pictures of our religious wedding. And we have 10 pics of the civil wedding, and around 10 pictures we took when we were dating.

you think that would be enough??

  11. I was on a F1 visa as a student, then I was on OPT for awhile prior getting married and applied for AOS.

Now I have my EAD and 2 copies AP. And my student visa and student document was expired. I am leaving to visit family for 2 weeks over christmas.

    That's what I have

    1) Passport

    2) AP

    3) EAD

Would that be sufficient? My passport does not have any sort of VISA to enter the US. Would that be okay?

  12. So, my received date is 2-22. Biometrics and everything is done. Just playing the waiting game. My last touch was from 4-22. I did get the work card, but nothing since then. Should I be worried? I see most of you got your interview notice 4 months after filing. I'm sitting at 6 months without a word being said. Any ideas?

    same here.

If you have a lawyer, ask for an update

Otherwise, you should contact the congressman or schedule an info pass.

it could stuck in the name check. That's what I have been told from the congressman.
