  1. Thanks for all the replies

@trillium, are you saying you got the "card production ordered email" on CRIS one week later after the interview?

@naksah, I'll definitely keep you updated. What office was your interview? mine was atlanta

@Old Dominion, did you get the "card production ordered email? That's actually what I am most concerned about. The greencard can come later but I'd like to sleep at night knowing that it's been ordered and that my application is not somewhere in limbo.

I have scheduled an infopass for the 23rd and I'm going to inquire about it. I will also request the i-551 stamp on my passport at that point. I am interviewing for my internships next month and most of the agencies I will be interviewing with are government agencies and they require that one be a permanent resident or citizen. I'm gonna have my academic advisor write a letter to this effect. I will also be applying for financial aid and I need proof of residency.

So close, and yet so far.

  2. I had my interview on the 9th Sept and I was approved. The interviewer proceeded to print out a congratulations letter (did anyone else get one of these?). My concern is that I've been reading about others getting "card production ordered" emails from CRIS on the day of the interview and welcome letters shortly afterwards. I know it has been 7 days but one think I've learned in this forum is that if the timeline differs from others in a similar situation, it's cause for concern. I have read two scenarios where in one case, they were told they would be approved but six months later they had not been approved and when they called to inquire, they were informed that their case had been sent for supervisory review. In the other case, the interviewer simply forgot to actually input something in the computer which would start the process of card production.

I'm curious: Has anyone had the interview, been approved at the interview and not received the "card production ordered" email? How long did it take to receive the welcome letter?

  3. So today I called and made a service request for my AP to be expedited. The lady who took my information told me that the request had gone through but the computer was not generating a confirmation. I asked her, "do I need it?" and she's like, "not really. The computer is telling me that the request went through".

Hmmm should I have insisted on a confirmation number? She told me it will take five days for the request to be processed. Anyone with any experience regarding this? And are the service centers open next week?

  4. I FINALLY got the physical RFE in the mail this morning and it was for the I-864W. Fortunately, I was prepared for that and I had it filled out and ready to go. I just mailed it using Express mail and it should get there on Wednesday. I suppose this makes me officially a June filer. I am pissed off about the 2 weeks delay because I need to travel to Canada on Aug 8th and I need the advance parole document. I will wait two weeks and then request an expedited AP. Or I could just cross the border (without inspection) to Canada! (yes, I'm that desperate).

  5. When I filed my VAWA, I used a mailbox service on account of the fear I had that my husband (we're now separated) could intercept my mail. When I filed for AOS, I used my home address because that's what the instructions said. Now my question is this, I suspect that he has been taking my mail (along with his) since the separation. I haven't gotten my credit card bills but I pay the bills online so that's not an issue.

The issue is the immigration correspondence. I should have received my biometrics letter by now. The reason I say this is that I have similar timelines with 3 of you and according to those timelines, I should have received my biometrics letter between the 8th and the 11th. But I haven't. Now, two things may have happened: either the mail service is slow OR my ex has it. If I assume that my ex somehow has it, what can I do? Do I call USCIS and request a new letter? Should I walk in for biometrics with my NOA but no biometrics letter? Schedule an INFOPASS?

Hi Eva, I hope that by now you have received your biometrics leter and everything is going smoothly on your end. I just have a question, if you don't mind. When you filed your I-360, did you apply for AOS and EAD also? What happened to me was 15 months after I filed I-360, I applied for AOS and EAD, because in my research, it said that one can file I-360 and apply for AOS and EAC at the same time. I received my EAD yesterday but my I-360 is still pending and I have yet to finish gathering documents for RFE. I'm happy that with my EAD I can renew my driver's license and get another job. I'm so broke, no help at all, afraid that my husband will do something. My divorce is almost final, he's been quiet, I'm glad for that. I hope he finds someone that he can love and respect, if not someone who can fight back.

And I hope, for all of us here, that we will see the light at the end of the tunnel.

No I didn't. I wish I had. That's my one regret. I wish I had sent my AOS with my I-360. I could have saved $1010 AND avoided so much delays. I need the Advance Parole document like NOW!! But I trust that God has a plan for me. He works in mysterious ways. I haven't started divorce proceedings yet.

  6. As we filed the AOS package without the 693 medical ( to get it received & NOA intime before i94 expired) we initially received NOAs for the 130 , 485 , 765 all fine but 2 weeks or so later we got a request for initial evidence (for the medical to be completed & the 693 filled in & sent in ) The letter included in the request said that until that evidence (request for said info) had been received by them the whole application will be put on hold .

Once we got that done & sent in within a week we soon got the NOA for the biometrics appointment. So yes everything will be put on hold.

Thanks for that response! I was JUST about to post a question along these lines but you aswered it. Did you apply for the I-131, too? How was it affected by the RFE for initial evidence? How did you send the letter? does USCIS provide a special envelope for it or did you use just regular express mail. I know it's a silly question but I don't want to take any chances and I don't want delays.

I have received an email requesting initial evidence. The email didn't specify what the evidence was for... still waiting for the actual letter.

  7. My wife is an F1 student from China. We lived together from Feb 08 to Jun 08. I then transfered to another university and we married when i came back to visit her. Eventually, after about 5 months, I decided that I could not take the seperation and transfered back to the original university so that i could be with her. We have been living together since Oct 09. We do not have a lease agreement, but the landlord is willing to write a letter stating that we have lived together during this time. How will our temporary seperation affect my I-130 petition and her prospects of an AOS. Would it be a good idea to write a statement explaining the circumstances of our seperation?

Am I missing something? Why do you want to write a letter? For what purpose? Has USCIS asked about it? I don't think it will come up anytime during the application. It might come up during the interview and that will be your chance to explain it if it comes up.

  9. :help:Does anyone knows how can I renew my driver license while waiting for I-360 is approved? :help:(Prima facie expired already) :help:

You need to write to USCIS and request an extension of your prima facie. You can use the primafacie to extend your driver's license. It can be a one sentence letter:

    Your name

    Your address

    USCIS

    Attn: Vawa

    Vermont

RE: REQUEST FOR AN EXTENSION OF PRIMA FACIE

    Dear sir/madam,

The purpose of this letter is to request an extension on my prima facie which has expired. My receipt number is EACxxxxxxxxx with an expiration date of xx-xx-xxxx.

    Thank you for your help.

    Sincerely,

    your name

Make sure you include a copy of your expired prima facie.

You have nothing to lose by writing to request a prima facie. If they are working on your case right now and have approved you, they will send you an approval. If they haven't gotten to you, then they will send you a prima facie BUT at least it will remind them that you are still pursuing your case.

I filed my case at the beginning of April 2008. I received a total of 3 prima facies and I had to request all of them. They don't just send them out. If you read your prima facie carefully, it tells you to write to them 15 days before it expires and request a new one. I didn't read that and I was waiting for my prima facie for about a month after it expired. I finally read it and sent a letter requesting it. The only exception is the 3rd primafacie which was only good for 60 days and it did not say that I could request another one after it expired. It simply said that my case would be adjudicated withing 150 days. But when it was about to expire, I wrote a letter requesting an extension anyway. I figured I had nothing to lose. The worst that could happen was that they would throw my letter in the trash. But it made me feel good to write it anyway. I sent the letter on May 4th 2009. I received my approval two weeks later. I am not saying that you will get an approval notice by writing this letter. My point is that you have to be proactive.

Hi Eva, did USCIS ask you for RFE? I was mostly abused verbally, mentally and emotionally, it's embarassing to admit but I need your advice. I won't go into details about the physical abuse. But I did not report any of these with the authorities because at that time I thought I could handle the situation and besides my family and relatives were close by.

What more can I send them to prove extreme cruelty? I was taken to the ER twice but because of migraines and not being physically battered. We don't have joint bank accounts because he did not want to. His car is in both of our names and that's just about the property we own together.

He was very posessive, he flew off the handle when I went to the movies with my female cousin. He was constantly reminding me that I'm breaking the law for working without authorization but he keeps asking for money. When I received a gift card from my aunt, we ended up using it to buy his clothes. But I can't get letters from the people who witness his cruelty towards me because most of them don't know of my legal situation. And besides, I don't tell my friends that I married an abusive person. I really don't know what to do. USCIS gave me until August to send them more evidence. HELP!

I did not get an RFE. I did not have police records either. I didn't call the police. Like you, my abuse was verbal, psychological and emotional. Mine was also sexual. The sexual abuse was a big component in my case. Like you, I did not confide in anyone about what happened to me. I was so ashamed of myself. I couldn't tell anyone about it. I cried myself to sleep every night. I hated myself for staying with him. But I loved him so much. I hated him so much.

I fell into a depression the months following my filing and saw a counselor who suggested that I see a doctor regarding anti-depressants. It felt good to talk to her. And she wrote a letter in my support with regards to my depression. I sent the letter in January, 9 months after I had filed. Since I didn't have police records, I made sure that my declaration really expressed what I went through at the hands of my husband. It took me two weeks to write it. I cried every time. It was 14 pages long.

  11. Ghanamade, what tests were actually performed by the civil surgeon? Who did your tb test? Did you get the varicella? I had chicken pox as a child but will they ask for proof? I got my vaccines this morning but I only got the MMR and the Tetanus/diptheria. Can the tb test be done at the local health department? will the civil surgeon sign off on it? Thanks!

  12. Well, so here is me again.

They requested RFE in November 2008 (good moral character + marriage in a good faith). I sent it back in January 2009.

Its May 2009 and i still havent gotten any responses.

I CALLED THEM TODAY. They told me "i don't know. we are not supposed to give away any information on this type of case". I was like " do you think i should send you evidences once again in case it got lost in mail??? " and he was like " i don't know. its up to you".

so, WHAT DO I DO NOW???? :(

lady before that said that they usually wait 86 days for evidences, so they havent denied my case yet and its good. she said that they could forget update it and send me response..

OMG . What am i supposed to do? send them a letter and evidences again?? :(

I would send the evidence again. What do you have to lose except the $5 postage? When you send it again, make sure to use the blue form that was provided for you in the first prima facie. This is very important. You must send send the blue form as the cover. This will ensure that your documents do not get lost. Blue form. I cannot emphasize this enough. Send them again.

Thanks. I sent blue form in first time. All I have left is copy of blue form

Go to Kinkos and request blue paper and copy that form on the blue paper. That's what I did. The important thing is the color blue.

  13. APPROVED!!!!!!

    OMG OMG

For the past month I have been checking my mailbox twice, sometimes 3 times, a day. My mailbox is located about 2 miles from my place. Last week I made a decision to stop. I just couldn't bear opening an empty mailbox again. I haven't been to the mailbox the whole week. I figured if I was approved, I would get an email first. This morning I went running and the running trail leads past the mailbox place and I opened it and VOILA!

    I cried like a baby.

I don't even know where to start. I know I need to get a divorce and start processing my i485. But I need an advance parole FAST.

Lostinnj, you need to write a letter. Stop with the phone calls. Write a letter along these lines:

(But if you suspect that your file is lost, you need to file a FOIA requesting information on your file.)

    Dear Sir or Madam:

I filed a VAWA Self-Petition (I-360), which was received on Feb 07 2007 and granted Prima Facie on Feb xx 2007. More than 15 months has elapsed and no determination has been made on this case. I am hereby requesting that your office adjudicate my I-360 as soon as possible.

    Thank you for your consideration

    Sincerely,

    thanks for all the encouragement!

Did you get a letter of defferment along with your approval notice? What is that for?

yes i did.. its kust to tell you what your current status is: deferred action and that uscis wont start removal proceedings yet so you should file for aos asap

Another question, how did your medical end up being $150? That's on the lower end. Did you have your vaccines done elsewhere? What about the lab tests. Do they have to be done at the doctor's office? Give me all the details. I am trying to save on the medical. lol

it was actually $180...... i had my vaccines done at my pcp and my insurance paid for it, i didnt take the hpv vaccine though..im totally against it...just go to the uscis website and look for civil surgeons in your area and call all of them and go to the CHEAPEST!!!!!!

Do you have a the list of vaccines that I require? I would appreciate it. Also, what about the lab tests? (syphillis, hiv, etc) are these done at the doctor's office? Does the $180 cover it? I am a little scared about the TB test. I know for a fact that my skin test will be more than 4mm. I had the BCG vaccine as a baby and it will show as a positive test. I suppose the chest xray will take care of the rest.

https://egov.uscis.gov/crisgwi/go?action=of...office_type=CIV click this link, put in your zip code and a list of civil surgeons will come up... and this link http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dq/civil_ti_vacc...one.htm#changes is about the vaccination requirements... remember that the HPV is required for women 26 and under.... it was $130 for the medical examination and $50 for the hiv and syphillis....my tb test was positive so i had a chest xray done and that covered it..good luck

    THanks!

I'm looking at the information and it appears the only vaccines that apply to me are:

    Tetanus and diptheria (Td)

    MMR (measles mumps rubella)

    Varicella

Is this all? I better check this again.

  17. OMG biker4Eva I am soooooooooooooo happy ur finally approved, just gives me hope, when this entire crew gets approved, and hopefully we all do, we need to celebrate lol, but congrats, I'm extremely happy for you. Now you know I have question, I know we spoke but I forgot, (1) Did u get any RFE? If so what did they request, (2) Did u send in police clearance? Reason I ask if because I didn't send my police clearance and I really would like to be approved instead of getting an RFE for the clearance? I did note on my decalaration that I'm a person of good moral character and never committed a crime, also told them I've never lied to USCIS to gain any immigration benefits, it was all notarized, so I don't know if they will still request the police clearance, I don't mind getting clearance in NJ, but honestly I hate going to Boston because I would hate to run into my wife.

I did not get an RFE.

I sent a police clearance. Thing is, when I went to get it, lady at the counter asked me what I needed it for (that's standard procedure) and I said immigration. I even put it down on the form where it asked what I needed it for. She called me aside and told me to put something else because putting down "immigration" would complicate things. So I changed it to "personal reasons". I got it in 10 minutes.

When you go to get the police clearance, which you are entitled to, by the way, just say you need it for personal reasons. An alternative to the police clearance is the FBI fingerprint. Now, this costs $50 and it can take a month but they don't ask a lot of questions. You just get your fingerprints taken at the local police station and send the fingerprint cards to the local FBI office and wait for a letter. Another alternative is to get your pastor to write a letter on your behalf. If you don't attend church regularly, get a friend who is friendly with a pastor or who attends church regularly and get then to vouch for you. But I think you should go ahead and start making preparations and send it because they will ask for it.

It will come. Have patience. I know it's hard. and start working on your police clearance. Go to Boston if you must. Just take an afternoon and go get it! It will be worth it.

    Sincerely,

    lostnnj

Make sure you send it certified return receipt

  20. If he does not have evidence of physical abuse and it is only mental, emotional and psychological abuse, he needs to prepare a very strong self-declaration. He should detail the emotional abuse he has suffered and how it has impacted his life (low self-esteem, thoughts of suicide, depression, etc) He also needs to probably get a psychological evaluation. A psychological evaluation can be done by a licensed therapist. Is there any financial abuse? He needs to detail this. My self-declaration was 14 pages long (double spaced). The declaration needs to have at least 3 specific incidences of abuse. For example, he can write about how she locked him out of the house and how he felt about... was he ashamed? did he sleep in the cold? that can be one incident. He needs to write about his feelings.

He does not need to mention that his wife is BIPOLAR. This is not necessary and in fact, it seems callous to accuse your wife of being bipolar. He should concentrate on the actions and behaviors of his wife, not speculate on what she might be suffering from. For example, my husband was an alcoholic. But I never in my declaration did I ever accuse him of being an alcoholic. I simply stated that he drank a half a pint of hennesey when he woke up and another bottle when he went to bed. He abused me sexually. I was terrified. When he was sober, he scared me. When he was drunk, he scared me. I was in constant fear. Describe the abuse and how it impacted you.

And he needs that psychological evaluation.

Write a letter along these lines:

    yes

Ghanamade, I was looking at your timeline and noticed that they moved really fast. Did you request a fee waiver for the i485 or did you pay the $1010.

    i payed the 1010

I think I'll do the same :(. Not looking forward to writing that check, though. But first things first. I gotta get my VAWA approved first. Don't want to count those chickens before they hatch.
