I'd say 4 months is a very short time to decide to marry someone. I'm almost certain they've never lived together either. I speak from experience because my fiance is a former bargirl I met while in Japan - the difference is that we've been together for 3 years and we lived together for 2 years so I *know* how it will be when we get married, since we basically already were. Make sure your nephew gets to know this woman inside and out before he marries her. I would try to steer him away from it for now. A very difficult situation for sure.

Nevermind, I found a good post that answers all my questions, its here:

Thanks.
I will be filing while I'm still in the military, in fact it'll be my last month on active duty when I'm on terminal leave.

I will be submitting my I-129F soon, but there's one catch, I'm about to separate from the military so I won't have a job soon. However, I might be attending school and will receive a paycheck through the MGI Bill. I won't be employed though. Will that be sufficient to bring her over, or do I need to actively be employed?
If I need to be employed, would a part time job be enough to get the petition approved? This could make or break me...

Thanks I'll look into that mox.

These are some of the same questions I have, I'm in the Navy and will be deployed on my ship soon. It makes it a lot more difficult. Not to mention I'm not sure whether I should use my ship address or my home address (which I have no access to). arghhh...

K guys, couple new questions. My full name has a middle name and a suffix. Should I include those everywhere my name is required? Or just leave them out. I don't see any areas to put my suffix on the I-129F.
Also, another question about my permanent address. I am living on a ship so that is where all my mail is coming. I consider it my permanent residence right now. My permanent PERMANENT residence is my parent's house in California, but I don't have access to check the mail that arrives there. Would it be easier just to give them my current ship, or should I go for my parents house?
In the early stages of putting together the I-129F right now...my girl understands english fairly well but she's not too good with computers...I'm gonna try having her fill out the pdf files and send them to me but somehow I think she's gonna have trouble with that Anyone suggest some better methods?

Hmm, another question entered my mind...when asked for my address on the I-129F, should I enter my permanent home address (my parent's house in California) or my current address (a U.S. Navy ship)? I don't actually live at my parent's house, and I'll only be on my ship until September 2008 this year, so by the time my petition goes through I might have a totally new address. This is a dilemma Also, should I have her send me a certified copy of her birth certificate for inclusion with my I-129F petition? or is that not neccessary until she applies for her K-1 Visa?

Thanks YuandDan, Sounds good, the only thing is I've never had a passport before. All I needed to do to gain entry to Japan was show my orders/leave papers and my military ID. So I'm SoL on that one. I guess orders should be sufficient proof?

Hi everyone..let me explain the facts of my situation. I met my Filipina fiance in Japan while I was on military orders there. She was there on a work visa. I met her in February 2005. The last time I saw her was March 2007. She had to leave Japan to go back to the Philippines in March '07, and I got new orders to San Diego, CA (where I currently reside) in August '07.
My problem is with primary evidence of meeting her within the past 2 years. I have no plane ticket stubs etc because I never had to travel to see her. We resided together in Japan for 2 years. I have plenty of emails and a few pictures of us together within that timeframe but I don't think that will be enough? Will the fact that I've never been to the Philippines to see her have an impact on petition approval? Should I include my old military orders in the petition to prove I was in Japan? Won't they also need proof that she was there? I'm just starting this process and been reading so many guides and posts that my brain is being overloaded with an influx of info and I feel all jumbled up Should I go visit her in the P.I? ..thanks for help in advance guys
I need your input and advice on my life's plan for ultimately receiving a K-1 visa.
in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures
Posted
Hello friends, I need some life advice.
First and foremost, my ultimate goals in life:
-Attend college to receive technical training/degree/certificate so I can provide myself the foundation for a well-paying career.
-Submit I-129F, obtain K-1 Visa so I can marry and live with my fiancee and pop out some babies!
Second, my current plans to achieve these goals:
-Attend college full-time whilst waiting for K-1 visa approval
-Once K-1 approval is received and after we are married, cut down the classes a bit and get a part time job to cover expenses like food/apartment (I can't move her in with my parents). Assuming everything goes as planned (which is not likely), I'll graduate school, find an awesome job, make big bucks and everything will end happily ever after.
Problems I foresee with my plan:
-Getting rejected by her Embassy's consulate for my lack of income/job.
-Not having enough money for a place for us to stay
So, should i work full time and only go to school part time instead? Basically what do you guys recommend I do to get her over here while I'm still going to school. All constructive and helpful input appreciated. Thanks guys
