  1. Hello Everyone,

My fiancee just got her flight ticket today and she will be going though her P.O.E. Chicago June 3rd I wanted to know if anyone who has gone through here has any advice or information about going through customs there and what things she might face.

I am very excited about this day and my worries are a lot less now but I just wanted to know what to expect this day. With the economy the way it is now she did not want me to travel with her for us to save money for more important things ahead. She is very confident in herself and I am too but it would be better for her to know what to expect at her P.O.E.

    Thank you

  2. My Fiancee's interview went really well and she got the pink slip from the toughest interview official there.

My Fiancee said she was a very beautiful Korean lady who spoke English and Vietnamese very very good. She said she look like Korean movie star.

She was very nice and spoke to her in Vietnamese 1st and asked her if she spoke English. She said yes and they began interview in english. She asked many questions and took 30 minutes with her for interview.

Later my fiancee found out from other's she is toughest person to have interview with and Lawyers in U.S. not want her to have interview with. Vietnamese people who know her are scared to have interview with her beccause she is so tough. She asked her so many questions so many about my ex-wife and her family in u.s. how we met and why were are together even what she thinks about her Asian traditions.

My fiancee's advice is to be calm and confident and be prepared to answer a lot of questions but not afriad to answer them

the more they tell them the more it will help. If they can answer all questions they will pass. She is very nice but asks a lot of question but, my fiancee is tough too. She knew everything I could tell her about me and she say the truth about even the hardest things to talk about. She knew all about my ex-wife and why we got divorced.

Here are the questions she was asked. Not in any particular order!

why he decide to marry you?

    why he can trust vietnamese?

my God she asked me too much

why you think vietnamese has good tradition ?

    do you think about Asian?

    6. How many times have you and your fiance met?

    7. What are the exact dates of your fiance visits?

    8. How do you communicate with your fiance?

    9. What are his parent names?

    17. How many times have you and your fiance met?

    18. How long did your fiance stay each visit?

    19. why he got dirvoiced?

    20. how long he had been in his marrige?

    21. what about his ex wife?

    22. how many kids he has?

    23. his name?

    24. how old is he?

    25. how can he meet him?

    26. who is take care of him?

    27. is he like you?

    28. where are his parents living? apart or house?

    29. what is he doing? where ?

  3. Hello everyone.

My Fiancee passed her interview today at Ho Chi Minh City Consulate. She Told me she had Korean lady interview her and she asked her many questions before granting her the pink slip. Wow this has been a journey and this 1st leg of the race is over and I am so excited to have her hear in 20 days. I will give a full review of consulate and post the questions she was asked for anyone who will interview at the same consulate. I did a lot extra too by sending a notorized letter of about my last divorce how we met and how much she means to me. She knew that if there was a problem with interview about have a real relationship she would give them this letter because they would ask for it anyways. So my only advice is give anything extra you can it helps so you will not have to do if you don't get the pink.

I am soooooooo happy I was dancing when I found out at work.

Thanks for everyone's help you are and this site is the biggest reason this journey was possible and made easier.

  4. Hello I have a question if anyone can answer I would appreciate very much.

I sent all my documents to my fiancee I-134, 07 transcripts and 06 & 05 tax returns with w-2's. I want to know if my 06 & 05 returns have to be notorize? They are not notorized, I thought since having the w-2's with it made it not necessary. I have send the 07 transcripts thinking that is all they care about, and my unnotorized returns with w-2's. Is this going to be a big problem? Her interview is the 21st and I have to do something fast.

    Please help me!!!!!!!!

  5. Hello Everyone,

I called the Consulate today and spoke to a very nice Vietnamse lady who spoke English very well who informed me of my fiancee's interview date on May 21st.

It was really nice to have a very sweet sounding person on the other end lol. I was sooooo happy to hear the news I think I said I love you before hanging up the phone ooooppppsssss. Hahaha

Does anyone else have their interview at this consulate near this time? If so I wish you the best and hope we can share our stories.

YEEESSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am soooooooo happy waited forever to be with my baby again. The best thing is, that this site is what helped my dream come true, with out it I may have not made it this far. Every question I ever had was answered here and this site have been like a family to me and I feel like everyone here is appart of my family and I only wish everyone here the best in their future and with their own families.

  6. Hello,

My fiance went to Consulate to get her packet 3 and she sent back next day. She still did not recieve the 1st packet 3 that was sent to her in the mail when she lives only from 2 mile from the Consulate. Since she has not gotten the packet yet I think her letter for interview will take just as long or longer for her to recieve. I have been noticing that interview are coming faster than average some within weeks or even 1 month.

My question is has anyone who gone through this Consulate have a recent time frame to when I can expect the date of the interview? The mail is really bad there I not want to wait for a letter and only have short time to have medical exam and short time to get ready.

  7. From a different country but I just got packet 3 today. Exactly 4 full weeks and 2 days later. I know it gets annoying waiting but just wait a 'lil bit longer. It could be in the mail any day now.

It took 4 weeks from the time they mailed it to get to you???

See, I know it's in the mail....it doesn't take 2 weeks to mail a letter from inside Canada to a Canadian address.....

    :(

Thanks for the support though, I appreciate it.

Hey here is what my fiance did she could not wait for the slow mail to get to her since she live 3 miles from consulate she went to them and ask for a packet because there was a change of address and she was worried she would not recieve the packet. They just gave her one there. If you are close enought to your embassy you could try the same thing. She filled out the paper work before she got her packet and was ready and took it to consulate herself so she not have to use the mail system. Now we hope to hear our interview date soon.

I hope this will help you, I know is sounds like cheating but all you are really doing is cutting out the middle man (mail service) and you feel better when you deliver it yourself.

  8. I sent for 2007 tax transcript today. Do I have to get 2005 and 2006 transcripts too? I would have to send to another state to recieve it because I live in another state the prior years and I do not know if they will come in around the same time. Is it alright to send 2007 transcript with 2005 & 2006 return copies with w-2?

  9. Just found out the following information:

Your foreign wife does not need to get US cistizenship if she does not want to. I believe she needs to wait 3 years before she can apply for US citizenship. Until she is approved for citizenship is are still considered an citizen of her coutry and need to travel on that passport.

Once she gets her conditional greencard (when the AOS is granted), she will then need to carry that with her when she travels outside the US.

She will still be traveling on her countrys passport (NON US PASSPORT) and will need to get visas for countries that require them (as stipulated by her coutry, not the USA).

90 days before your conditional greencard expires (on the 2 year anniversay of the AOS being granted) she will need to apply to remove the conditions on your greencard (in the two years she will be on a "conditional green card).

When she gets approved for that she will get a 10 year greencard.

In the third year of being married to you, she can apply for US citizenship and thus a US passport.

So to answer your question, yes, she should renew her passport, but it doesnt matter if she does it now, or when it expires, as she will have a conditional greencard--that is the form of VISA evidence not the passport.

    Hope this helps!

    Cheers!

    :D

Yes that helped a lot. Thank so much.

Do you happen to know when we are married if we we get treated the same when we travel over seas? Or do I have to do a visa for her when it's not required for me. She is Vietnamese so she has to have visa for travel anywhere I only want to know if that will changed after we are married and she get a temp greencard?

  10. You might want to check out the website - http://www.theworknumber.com. I apply for my K-1 this March 2008. My 2nd NOA2 will not arrive within the next couple months as I guess. However, I am planning to obtain my "Letter of Employment" from this website at the end of May 2008. I have this information from my employeer internal website. Hope this helps.

I was given that site from my work but it was not what I needed. So I talked to my H.R. dept. and went they told my personel manager to type me up a letter. So I was able to get the letter I wanted. So you can get a letter because that is what the government wants and that is what you need to tell them or keep going over their heads until you find someone willing to help you.

  11. My fience has been waiting on packeage 3 for several weeks. today I called DOS at 202-663-1225, option 1 then option 0. I was able to confirm that my package arrived at the Bogota Embassy around march first. I was also able to confirm that during the first week of March the Bogota Embassy did in fact mail package three to my fiancee. this package was NEVER recieved at my fiance's home.

What steps do i need to take to get this package sent again? how can I find out what happened to this package?

Any help would be greately appreciated...

    StateSide

    Hello there,

Does your fiance live close to the Embassy? I will tell you what my fiance did. 1st they sent our packet out and it was taking longer than we thought when she live only a few miles from the consulate.

So what she did was she went to Consulate and said she she had a change of address and was worried they sent the packet to the wrong address and ask if she could recieve a new packet and they gave her the packet with out any problem. I hope this may help you.

  12.

    Hi,

I was wondering if anyone who has been through the Consulate in HCMC Vietnam would know how long it takes after returning packet 3 until you recieve interview date?

My fiance turned in her paket on March 26th. I guess I wanted to know how much time have to ship my paperwork to her? I am so excited I can't wait but I want to make sure I do not miss anything either. Oh to I have send another Intent to Marry?

  13. Yes, the filing fee for the K1 is $455 dollars.

Then there are other expenses in between, the medical for example ranging from $180 to $400 dollars depending on country.

Then the $131 is paid at the actual interview.

Then once you get married you file for AOS (Green card, Work Authorization and Advanced Parole) which costs $1010.00.

It's an expensive journey but oh so worth it.

Check out the K1 Guides here at VJ, they will help to get you organized!!!

    Best of luck! :)

    Hello,

Does the fees for $1,010.00 come fast or over a time period? I just wanted to know because I will be paying a lot for fiance just to travel and for our marriage here I just wanted to know how much time I have to pay it after our marriage? I do not want to run into any problems. I am just so happy my fiance will have interview soon and be with her soon after.

  14. Hello everyone.

I was just wondering if anyone had any problems getting a letter from their employer? Ok I am not proud of it but I work for Wal-Mart and I have been having problems with them signing a simple letter of employment. I am so pissed because they say they no longer do that and I must fill out a form or give them a form to fill out. I never heard of a form that I can give them from a visa or Affidavit of Suport. I am just so angry I do not wish to share my business with them and I feel this is nothing they need to know about. I am shure that you all may know that working at Wal-Mart is like being in hight school where everyone tells your business to everyone else. Even telling them what it is for they still will want me to use a form and they will not sign any letter.

Has anyone else gone through this cr#p before?

I just want to know what is the best thing I can do? This can destory everything for me now. How can you work for a place and they can never do anything for you in return

Thanks to everyone that put in god advice. I was able to have them write my letter today. No one wanted to give me any answers or reason why they would not do it even my Store Manager was no help she just kept saying the same thing and did not try be much of help. So I went to the next step going out from the store I work for and above their heads as soon as they got the info that I went else where they called me and told me they were writing a letter for me. Wow was that so hard? OMG they make simple things so hard. Well hopefully this process will change in the future so that other will not have to go throught this stupid trouble. Maybe they can make a new form that your employer will have to fill out with their Company ID# and info and not have to use a letter anymore.

It's done I only worry others will get stressed over something like this for such a simple letter.

The employment letter has to be on Offical Company letterhead so you can't write it yourself. There is no form that I know of, if there was then HCMC Consulate would include in the Packet 3. HCMC Consulate is clear about requiring an employment letter and it's has to state the length of your employment, whether your position is considered permanent or temporary and of course your salary.

There's no reason for Walmart not to do that since it's a requirement for your I-134. You can try showing them the HCMC Consulate letter of instructions for the I-134 so they will understand that it is a requirement of the US State Department. Walmart is worried about liablity or your boss is one of those who like to impose their power over people. Showing them the letter show make them understand that there is none for them in writing the letter. If your fiancee didn't send you the I-134 instruction letter or a copy of it, I have it which I can email you. You can print it out to show them.

Most jobs are like high school, not just walmart. People like to gossip, etc that's why there's many gossip mags and tv shows. Walmart may not be the best job but it's what you have now so you should use it to get your fiancee here to the US. What they think at work doesn't matter. Getting her here does matter.

    Thank you.

I will call the Consulate this morning asking for what they might they will accept. I do not mind telling them what this is for and even when I said it was for the government they said it is still the same even if it's the IRS. I really have no clue to what reason they have for not writing any letter as simple as this. I know Wal-Mart make everything harder of ther employees with things like this and with insurance. It just drives me crazy no that employers treat their employees this way it is not wonder that everyone I work with dislikes how the company treats them.

  16. [/font

First of all I am not saying I would be ashamed of my fiance.

If any of you really new the person I am you would understand me better. I love my fiance so much if I could not have her here I would leave her to spend my life with her

in her country. So being ashamed is far from any thought im my mind. I know other people at my work have their own beliefs and will put them ahead of helping me. I am

only ahsamed of my employers not be willing to help me with something as simple as this letter. The thought about people talking is how people bend things so much father

from the truth and hurting people close to you. I know there are a lot of haters there who hate that men and women find love in other countries and other lands. My whole

family loves my fiance and but I have had some people who know me ask me why I could not find someone here? I do not bash any woman at all. I love my mother and

she is the reason I am the man I am today. I raise women above myself because I came from one of the most wounderful woman in my life. I love my fiance because I

spent so long finding a woman who shared the same beliefs of family being 1st and many other ones and I am completely happy with her. My Fiance is everything I

dreamded of she is everything I hope to be myself she is the Center that binds me to my core. She keeps me from being lost and free from all global worries she is the one

that helped rebuild my life and work for a future.

I have had some woman tell me why I not find someone here with a jealous face, and I told her that love is not bounded by race or country, if you want to find that great

love you must be willing to go to the ends of the Earth to keep when you have it.

  17. Try typing the letter yourself and submitting it for signature. It just needs to include how long you've worked there, your pay, your employment status, and your pay. My boss wrote one paragraph to the effect of she has worked here since January 2006, is employed full time, and makes $2.13 per hour plus tips.

Along with my last years tax return and paystubs this was sufficient to prove my ability to support my SO.'

I find by writing it yourself you make sure all the necessary income is included and it is easier to get a signature than an entire letter.

No, you can't type it on a plain paper - you will need official stationery. So the best thing to do is to tell them what you need it for - seems like you are too paranoid about your sponsoring a foreigner - are you ashamed of your fiancee? Why? Don't worry about your co-workers wanting to know - this is normal in any job and you have to deal with it in a dignified way to make it work for you. How are you going to deal with your neighbors/friends/family who will want to know even more than your co-workers. If you are ashamed of this fact - then you should not go forward with it. Millions of us are not ashamed of it - we are proud of this and are very happy with our decisions. Good Luck

I am not ashamed of it at all! I am only saying they tell me they do not write ANY leter of employment for anyone for any reason! I was told I can fill out form or they can give me an enployment record. I would never be ashamed of my fiance I do not care if I work cleaning up sh#t I am only saying that, I worry if they know what is for they are more likely not to help me. They are saying it is not in their policy to write those letter anymore. I pissed at them because I am not asking for them to go out of their way to do something for me just a simple favor, I am not telling a lie I have been working over a year and gotten good evaluations but they just give me a bunch of cr#p and not tell me anything they can assist me with.

  19. so you mean, if a husband or fiance has a child but they dont bring the name of the father since theyre not married, it means that the child is not counted in household?

My husband has 2 kids however, his kids doesnt live with him since birth... but he do support them.. Does this 2 kids should be counted as households too?

I think you only need put them on it....

    1. if they live with you

    2. if he claims them on taxes

That is what I have been told and since I not claim my son I will not have him on my I-134. That will keep us in the household of 2.

  20. I looked up all the Timelines that were similar to mine and EVERY SINGLE one has been APPROVED that I could find..

Is there anybody out there that has filed in January that has NOT been approved yet...

    Please

Don't freak out yet. Vermont is the fastest one, but mine took longer than some other people I know who sent theirs in after I did. It's only been 2 months and there are people who will wait a lot longer than you. I bet you will get your notice within weeks maybe days. Don't go with the service center's prosessing times they are never right anyways. Thinking about it will drive you crazy it did to us.

    Take care and good luck,

  21. Hello everyone,

I was reeading on here from someone who seems very knowledgeable about the k-1 and the I-134 and they wrote, " Notarized copies of his or her latest federal income tax return".

Does this mean I must have the copies of my return notarized? I went to H&R Block and I have the copies of my return and w-2, but how would I get their copies they gave me notarized?

1.) I thought that I only needed send return copies and w-2 copies to them and send w2 originals to my fiance?

2.) I am also am above the poverty guidelines by 700$ and it was not a full year of work, should I still have my mom co-sponsor? Does that help me more?

3.) My son is on my divorce decree and listed as resides with father but that has changed since I sent him to live with his mother reason being the school are a lot better in CT than in FL. I did not claim him in 2007 so do I have to put him on the affidavit of support? or leave him off?
