Yes it is soooo frustrating. But I think that since they asked again for these papers that it must be a good sign. It is also frustrating that there are people after us (not that I am not happy for them) that are getting their visas in less than a year. The system has improved for the new people, but has not caught up with us.
I hope that we both will be hearing something soon, keep me posted.
Thanks,
Diana

Hi Sue: This happend last month to my husband he received a phone call saying that he had to do the medical and police reports again. They did not request packet 3, but we were in AP for over 9 months. I think it happened to people that filed papers around the same time you and I did. My husband's interview was in June of 2007, we started our papers in 2006.
He redid his medical and police reports last month, and the consulate sent an e-mail confirming receipt of the new medical and police reports, but we have not heard anything since then.
In the same boat, Diana

I received the almost exactly the same e-mail from Cairo:
Date: Sun, 23 Mar 2008 09:40:23 +0000
Dear Madam,
We confirm receipt of the new medical and police report; the case is currently pending the officer’s final review. Once the process is completed, we will process the case to conclusion.
Regards,
Consular Staff

Even though the driving is crazy there we have an average of over 42,000 deaths in the US from car accidents. So although they do have the frogger caos, it is still safer there than here. We have about 250 million people so if you compare that to their population of 70 million we have an average of about 14000 deaths per 70million people.
So yes its sad, but we are supposed to be organized and we still have more.

You do not have to send in originals, but it is a good idea if your fiance takes the originals with him to the interview. It does not matter what you have sent in. Cairo can request anything at any moment from anyone of you. There are no absolutes with them, it does not matter if you have proven all things with the USCIS even if you are a US citizen.
In my case, for example, I married in Cairo and to get married I had to show my original authenticated divroce decree. I also sent a copy with my I-129F. At the time of the interview the consular officer told my husband he needed to to send in the orignal authenticated copy of my divorce, even though they had copies. This does not happen with every case.
Somewhere on the applications for this process it does say not to send in originals. They request them as needed.

Where did you find this info?

We didn't have to have any of the documents translated for the US Embassy in Cairo. The translations are for when he comes here for the adjustment of status.
marriage certificate (civil)

If you married at the Ministry of Justice it is a legal marriage. You will need to get the marriage certificate translated to english and take the original to the US Embassy to have it registered in the United States.
