  3. Thank you, RealPI and Yurika & Jim!!

That's very good to know that we aren't the only ones and it seems to have worked out for MountainClimber. We contemplated making an InfoPass but figured that Biometrics appointment should be in near future and would be a good time to get this sorted out. Based on our past experiences, we didn't think calling National Call Center would go far in resolving the issue. We will take both notices to Biometrics appointment and see what they have to say.

The "Receipt Date" on both NOA letters is 8/16/2010.

Thank you, once again, to both for your information!

    Hi Z and S,

Mountain Climer (whose sent date is close to yours) received 3( ! ) NOA  And looks like just got 1 Bio letter. So, I think you'll be fine :)

BTW, when is the Receipt Date on your NOA letter (not letter received date)?

  4. That's interesting! We received two NOA1 with two different case numbers, none of which are recognized by the case status online. Both NOA1 are identical except for the case number and the time (one NOA1 was printed one hour after the other). We were wondering what was that about. Perhaps, one case number is for the later appointment letter that you are talking about.

I haven't gotten my bio appointment letter yet, but I did call the USCIS about the case # not being recognized on the website, and they said that often after the bio appointment you will be given a different case # than the one on your initial letters, and that case # will be able to be tracked on-line. Relatively standard procedure to not put the case # on-line until after the bio appointment.

  6. It was same with us, and we were asked to mail it back to the local office where we went for the AOS interview, with ATTN: to the officer who did the interview.

My understanding is California or Vermont service center sends the physical immigration file to the local office for AOS interview and the EAD needs to be go back into that file before they send it back to the service center. Hence, you cannot send it to California or Vermont service centers as they may not have your file.

I am not aware of consequences of just keeping the card.

At the AOS interview the interviewer told us to be sure and send back the temporary work permit when the green card comes. The green card came but no instructions on where to send it. Any ideas would help greatly. THANKS.
  7. We had done just that -- sent DS3025 without 693 -- and were approved. At the time of interview, the officer looked at the DS3025 but moved on without saying any thing.

    Hi guys

I went today to a local civil surgeon (approved by the USCIS) and he did not want to transfer my vaccination records from DS3025 to I-693 without me doing the whole medical exam again.

I just said I did want to do it again and left.

Can I just send the DS3025 (instead I-693) form with my AOS documents ? Do I have a chance of getting approved?

    Thanks

  8. Yes, back then, we were asked for a notarized copy of I-134. I think we were also told that it had to be signed & notarized within the last thirty or sixty days, but I can't remember for sure. That was to ensure the information on there was current.

As for question 11, I had read here somewhere it is for non-immigrant visa and is of no consequence for K-3 visa. We had just put "I will fully support my spouse." It does not appear that it matters at all.

    Best luck for your interview!

Z & S was your I-134 required to be notarized? I believe it is no longer required but would appreciate the confirmation.

Also did you check yes to Question 11 about whether you intend to make specific contributions? I just put "any and all expenses". Your views on that question would be appreciated.

The VFS experience was uneventful. They went through a checklist, asked for, and collected following items: courier fee, appointment letter copy, passport biographic page & PCC page copy, birth certificate & a copy, marriage certificate & a copy, police clearance & a copy, 2 passport-size photos, medical report envelope (but not X ray), DS-156 form (2 copies, I think), and I-134 form.

I insisted that they accept bonafide marriage evidence and other affidavit of support documents, as that is what was suggested here. But they refused repeatedly and asked to bring them instead to the interview. They gave a receipt for items collected and I was on my way.

    Z and S,

Thanks for coming in and providing your insight. Can you comment on your experience with VFS? What did you submit to them? Thanks!

We did K3 and were not required to submit the demand draft to VFS, nor was it needed to enter the consulate.

They collected it after the fingerprinting process inside the consulate.

Oh this is better. I was under the impression that the demand draft needs to be submitted to VFS beforehand.

Anyone who has completed K3, can you please let us know at what point your demand draft was verified/collected?

  11. that's interesting now. My wife had three vaccinations, but wasn't told to come back for any more. I wonder if this is a problem.

It's not a problem. They must have taken blood sample of your wife and they do the blood test. They determine which vaccines to take depending upon the blood sample, age and sex of the intending immigrant.

In my case, I had to take 2 vaccines, I guess one was MMR and I forgot the other one. Another girl who was with me had to take 3 vaccines and she was asked to continue her vaccination after entering US (I guess it was something like, you take one shot today and the next shot 3 months later)

Anyways she was a K-3 applicant and I was IR-1 but both of us went through the same procedure.

Very good information, and I agree. I too was administered two vaccines and only once. Not sure about medical point of view, but it was not a problem in the immigration process. The question of second dose was never brought up.

  12. If you have already sent Packet 3, you can call Dept. of State and they will tell you if your interview date has been set and when the Packet 4 was sent. If you do not receive the packet within normal delivery time once they have sent it, you can contact consulate. You can request them to fax the interview letter to you and can download the rest of Packet 4 from consulate web site.

If you are still waiting for Packet 3, I would suggest you download it from the consulate web site or pick it up from consulate and submit it to them. We never received it from consulate though they said that they had sent it twice. Once we sent Packet 3, we received Packet 4 in time though.

    Good luck!

I have never received Packet 3 that the consulate had shipped. This is worrying me of possibility of never receiving the Packet 4 when the consulate sends it.

    1. How many days should I wait before going to consulate to pick up Packet 4?

    2. Do I need to inform consulate upfront for picking up Packet 4?

    3. Does beneficiary has to pickup Packet 4 or can anyone on behalf of beneficiary pickup the packet?

    4. Do they give hard time when picking up Packet 4 or its simple?

    This is for K-3 visa.

    Thanks.

  13. I do not know what the timelines say here or what the norms are, but we were told that the interview date of one month from the time they receive the packet is minimum and normal. However, for Mumbai consulate specifically the delay is sometimes as long as two months as they are busier.

We went through Mumbai consulate too, and in our case it was two months.

Hope you get an early date...

It appears that the Embassy has already posted the interview dates for January. My K3 case is on its way to Mumbai. Do you think it's still realistic to lock in a late Jan interview date? or I will be surely early-mid Feb? We have all paperwork ready to go.
  14. When we were going though the process, we never received packet 3 even though they kept insisting that they had sent it. So I think it would be smart to not wait on it but rather just download it off the consulate web site.

Yes, I believe that you can drop off the packet 3 personally at the consulate. That is what the consulate had told us when we had called to inquire about courier service. I think there were some posts here as well about people dropping the packet at consulate personally. If I remember it right, you have to show your passport at the window for them to accept the packet.

Can the packet 3 be downloaded and personally dropped off in Mumbai Embassy as soon as they receive my case?
  15. Congratulations!! We got ours too today!

Yay, my GC arrived today! We're finally completely done with USCIS for a while :)

Is everyone looking forward to election day? We're excited to watch the results, hopefully by next time us June filers will have our citizenship and be able to vote!

the2ofus, good luck with your interview! I hope you have as good an experience as we did :)

  16. We have received EAD and Green Card, but the case status online is still showing the cases as "received and pending." We never received any email from CRIS, and the last updated date is from before the biometrics. So it appears that the case status online is not working for some people for whatever reasons. Best luck with your interview!

I am wondering if other users have had the same experience.... I received my I-797 Notice of Action on October 10th with the request to show up for our AOS interview on November 12th. So far so good. Surprisingly, this doesn't show up in my Case Status on the CRIS website. In fact, none of the related applications I-130 and I-485 were even touched since they were first received by USCIS. If the I-797 had been lost in the mail I wouldn't even know this interview was already scheduled or a letter had been mailed. I can hardly believe this is how it is supposed to work!

Did your NoA letter for the interview show up on your records?

  17. Thank you all! No, she did not mention or offer any stamp in passport, nor did we ask for it. BTW, do you have interview in the morning or afternoon? Somebody mentioned morning ones are the really simple ones, so they go through the approvals very quickly. That appeared to be the case while we were there.

Best of luck with your interview!!

We had our AOS interview today at Chicago office, and there is not much to report. The interviewing lady was just extremely nice, treated us with utmost respect, and was also very efficient. It seemed like she had decided beforehand to approve us, as she asked only a few basic questions. She did not even look at any pictures we had brought along even though we had not submitted any with AOS application. After saying we were approved, she asked us if we wanted to keep the EAD and I-94 for now -- in case there is a job offer in next few days -- or deposit with her as was required. We chose to keep it till we get the green-card, so she gave her name and USCIS address to send those items once the green-card was received.

Congratulations guys! :) We will have our interview in Chicago on Nov 10th, so I was fallowing your case... Did she say something about the stamp, just in case if you need to travel before you get your card?

  18. We had our AOS interview today at Chicago office, and there is not much to report. The interviewing lady was just extremely nice, treated us with utmost respect, and was also very efficient. One other thing is that we had only submitted DS-3025 with the AOS packet. It was not transcribed to I-693, nor was any additional test/vaccination done. During the interview, she looked at the DS-3025 sheet for a minute but then moved on. So it looked like that is enough.

  19. When we submitted AOS packet (I-485 + I-765), we had just sent in the DS-3025 that we had from the K-3 medical. The reason was that we wanted to get the process started and obtain EAD as soon as possible, and we did not really care if we got an RFE for I-485 or when we got the green card.

We have already received the EAD, and today we received the interview letter. So we are wondering if should get the additional shots and have the vaccination transcribed to Form I-693 now, or just go for the interview and take our chances.

Has anyone tried this, and did it work? Did anybody get RFE for I-693 during or past the interview phase? Does setting up of interview imply that they are fine with medical, or does it mean nothing? Thank you very much in advance for sharing your experience!

  20. I totally agree. I had started this post because I too was very worried for the exact same reason. I got my EAD last saturday, and case online still shows the last touch on 2nd July and case status as "pending." So it appears that the case online, email notification, and touches are inoperational or inaccurate at least in some cases. Who knows your case may have been transferred and greendcard on the way! You might want to do what I did - stop checking status online, assume everything is fine, and just wait for the mail.

I have no touch since biometric. It seems that my case has not even been transferred to CSC yet.

    I am so worried.

I am convinced that 'touch' has nothing to do with the speed of the case. There was no touch on my EAD since the NOA. Not even after the Biometrics. I received the approval yesterday. If I didn't have an RFE, probably I would have received it before.

  21. Congratulations!! And same here...we received EAD today, letter is dated 8/27/08. Our case also shows as pending on the USCIS Case Online, and the last updated date is still 7/2/08!!

My EAD arrived today!!! Yay!!! Here we come SSN office on Tuesday :) It's such a relief! No emails or touches and both AP and EAD still show as pending on the website.

kimmbo, mine is valid for a year too :)

  22. You don't have to go to Mumbai or Ahmedabad, although you can go to either of the places if you want to. There is one approved medical facility in Surat itself, which is where my wife went for her K3 medical. I think it was called Apollo clinic. US Consulate will send a list of approved hospitals/clinics to the beneficiary where he/she can go for medical. The beneficiary can go to any of the locations.

For people residing near Valsad or Surat, is the medical in Bombay or Ahmedabad? Can anyone please comment?
  23. Richo -- Can you please provide the contact information for the CS you went to. We are in Chicago area as well, and might need to get this done since we have only sent DS3025 worksheet. Thanks!

Hi actually that civil surgeon is the ONLY ONE who told me to go to Public health CLinic to get the shots and just go back to him when I have them all and its just $20 for the form for him to sign (I-693). BUt since I only have MMR and tetanus shot in the public health Clinic(FOR FREE, SAVE US $1 BUT20), because they are not giving the HPV shot unless your 18 years old below and since im 26 I cant get it from them I need to get it at my civil surgeon and its $170 so anyways we're just happy to save $120 from the two MMR and Tetanus shot.
  24. Thank you LaL and everyone for you feedback! I did not use to think much of touches either, but recently seeing touches on everyone else’s case (at least the ones I looked at) had me worried. I am convinced now there is no need to worry, and am going to stop checking touches on my case to avoid unnecessary stress.

Kstar – it would be nice if I could call and get an answer, but unfortunately they would not tell me or even look at anything till 90 days has passed. And I might piss off people if I make an infopass and ask them why my case was not touched or whether they passed my biometrics to NBC.

    Thanks you everyone, take care...

I think you should call to find out. I did my biometrics at the end of June and it was touched straight away but I am told I probably wont have it all done until mid September.

Call because due to lack of a touch? Sorry - touches mean nothing. Some of my applications were never touched and everything was just fine. Do not place any emphasis on touches.
