  1. Don't know what the $199 is for, does sound like a scam site. Best thing for him to do is get the URL for the website and all information he has and report it to the local authorities/BBB/FBI. He can monitor his credit report for the next 6 months or so and see if there is any questionable activity on it but that is about it.

When I look at the bank account online, it says CHECKCARD USIMMIGRATION US WILMINGTON DE ON 06/10, and there is not even a mention of USCIS.gov. One more thing, when I google "USIMMIGRATION US WILMINGTON DE", I find the following page: https://www.usimmigration.us/ , but I am afraid my stepson didn't know what he was doing. I don't think he ever went directly to the horse's mouth (USCIS.gov) to figure out what to do. Anyhow, thank you. I think the damage is done.

  2. As usual, my stepson went his own way with his mom, my wife, and tried to apply for his US citizenship; however, somehow he was asked to pay a $199 fee, which I think is a scam. He claims that he was at the USCIS web site, but I am afraid that the USCIS web site may have been compromised and he may have been switched to another web page to process the SCAM. What I am worry is not about the $199 fee, but the fact that his ID and SSN may have been compromised too. Does anyone know about this problem? Thank you.

  5. Last Saturday, we got a post office mail from USCIS with an RFE due to the fact that I forgot to sign the petition. It is weird as USCIS did not notice this issue before sending the boy to take his biometrics. Today, Monday, I just sent what's required in this RFE, and I may photocopies of everything sent to USCIS, including the document which I signed. Hopefully my boy gets his GC soon after they receive the RFE, and he does not have to wait another 6 months or take another biometrics to finalize this process. Anyhow, we will be waiting to see what USCIS does. As soon as my boy gets his 10 year GC, I will be posting here or NOT.

As I promised, I am here again to state that my stepson's 10 year GC just got home. My wife sent me an email at work to inform me of such a great news. I am glad we did not have to wait another 6 months for this so-called 10-year GC. Anyhow, thanks to everyone for his/her support and thanks for those of you who only came here to joke or laugh. Again, THANKS! And God bless everyone in this situation!

  9. **** several comments removed for personal bickering. Please stay on topic and constructive, or don't post ***

Thanks for posting that. If nobody has anything constructive to say, say it but if not, it is better not to say anything at all. By the way, February is almost gone and according to some poster my stepson 6 months limit is past overdue (not that I think USCIS is on target or anything to do its job). I am thinking that I will be here six months from now, and my stepson will not have his 10 year GC. Then, what shall I do? Any constructive comments or posts?

  10. To be fair, ROC is clearly not a priority for USCIS, nor should it be. Whether an applicant has their conditions lifted 1 week, or 11 months after they apply, makes absolutely no material difference to the applicant. The applicant can still work, can still travel. Nothing changes.

USCIS should be throwing its limited resources at speeding up applications for employment authorizations, and/or advanced parole for AOS applicants. Speeding up those procedures could make a HUGE difference to people's lives. I know someone who has been waiting 5 months for his EAD. That's not cool, he's missing out on income as a result. Every day his EAD is delayed, is another day he can't work. What a crappy start to a married life.

I know it's good to be able to vent some times, but there are many people who have been waiting a lot longer than your son for their ROC to be processed. Sit back, and try to relax. Chances are very strong that his ROC will be processed within 12 months of the application - and you have a long, long time until then.

Well, it may be not a priority according to your opinion, but it is very inconvenient to have to wait this long when there is no reason for the extended delay. We all paid good money for this ROC process which its cost was raised recently if I remember correctly (right after I filed my wife's ROC). And look at all the bad news immigrants are getting on TV and news papers, specially Spanish speaking immigrants regardless if the Spanish immigrant is a LEGAL one. If you look to my signature, the dates are those of my wife, and I don't see the spread time should be any different for my stepson. Anyhow, it seems you have nothing to complain about USCIS, and I suspect you must be working for it. USCIS is a shameful government institution which should be improved and I don't see when any president will act to improve an obsolete processing system as the one USCIS offers.

    Have a nice day!

  11. Thanks for that link. I will try to get the ROC NOA1 date some time this evening and post it here. I do know that his "biometrics" were done on 09/01/2011, for my wife told me this yesterday evening.

Finally I know the dates of my stepson's ROC for both his first NOA and the BIO NOA dates.

    ROC filed with CSC.

ROC 1st NOA: date printed on this NOA 08-03-11 (this is the NOA which extend my stepson's 2-year GC for another year)

    ROC Bio Appoinment date: 09-01-11

Then, his extension will expire on 08-03-12 or August 2012. I just hope he gets his 10-year GC before then or else I don't know what else to do! Any more comments will be appreciated. We are yet to receive any notification from USCIS regarding his status of his ROC and we are almost half way through January..

  12. More likely just chronically understaffed.

    The U.S. issued over 27,000 K1 visas in 2009. That's just K1.

Assuming the majority of those visas resulted in a marriage and subsequent adjustment of status, we could be looking at well over 1,000 ROC applications PER MONTH to each of the two service centers.

That's a lot of staffing hours required. And you can bet the staffing just isn't there.

I agree! However, this does not make sense. USCIS hiked the prices for these processes and still doesn't have staff to do it. Shame on USCIS! What else can be said. And today is already January 10, 2012 and yet there is no answer from USCIS.

  14. Make an infopass and go get a stamp in the passport that will extend it another year. While you are there have them check on the case.

    OR

apply for citizenship before the expiration of the extension - this will force them to have to process the ROC petition.

I am talking about my stepson's ROC not my wife. He will have to wait 5 years since he got his first GC to appy for citizenship if I am correct. Anyhow, thanks.

  15. Don't worry I'm with you as well, I filed in June and last communication I got from them was my app was sent to local office back in late September.

If you still have not heard anything, file your N-400 for citizenship 3 months prior to your NOA extension date and get on with it.

I know, they are ridiculously slow these days.

He cannot file for citizenship since he is my stepson and not my spouse. So I don't know what to do if he does not get his GC by the time the date of his NOA expires. Note that because he is my stepson, he will have to wait 5 years to apply for his citizenship or 3 years after he gets his 10 year GC since he has already been here for 2 years if my understanding of the citizenship process is correct. Anyhow, thanks for your comments.

  16. uh, yes. the last update was 15 december. it is updated as people post their progress.

the date of the NOA is important. and also it depends on which local office you have. some are faster than others. you need to be patient.

I am in San Francisco, California. It seems that the California office sucks.

Wow. By the time these approvals start rolling in, we'll all be just about ready to file for citizenship :hehe:

I totally agree! USCIS in California couldn't be any slower!!

  17. I am a July Filer and had my BIO in August. The only contact I am expecting from USCIS before Feb 2012 is an RFE. You are still within your timeframe. Wait & see Strategy is all you have as an option. There will be more delays now due to the long Xmas/New Year vacations.

So any hint about what I am supposed to do if he does not get his GC by the expiration date in his NOA?

Is anyone updating this list regularly? I don't know the date of my stepson's NOA, but he had his ROC Biometrics done on September 1, 2011. However, it seems that USCIS took a long vacation and will not issue any more 10 year GCs until some time next year. What do you think? By the by, my wife went through her ROC process and 3 months after her ROC Biometrics, she was issued her 10 year GC.
