  1. I always fly RJ so I don't know what Delta does for that flight. RJ is great as I once had a bag that was 62 pounds and they didn't say anything about it, lol. I hope Delta serves decent meals. They certainly don't inside the US.

    I know that's what I was thinking, Oh no what kind of ####### food will they be serving. My baby is going to be starving by time he gets to NY. :(

  2. I know the IOM had reps at the airport to make sure everyone got on the plane okay. My husband had to hang up the phone when they called his name. He called me back later saying his bags were a couple pounds overweight and Delta airlines wanted to charge him $150. Luckily he still had room in his carry on so he could move some things and lighten the checked bags. Now he is complaining his carry on is too heavy, lol. I think they should be fine.

    Thanks Jackie. Inshallah soon it will be your husband coming :)

    Oh I know hubby was worried about his bags and he weighed them before he got to the airport.

    Why am I so worried or is that anxious? :(

    I wish they were on RJ, does Delta announce things in Arabic and English like RJ?

  3. well i certainly understand the excitement and you know those men of yours most likely have seen eachother by now....lol cool how things work out isn't it???

    yes they probably have seen each other many many times. :lol:

    hopefully they will meet at the airport and get to know each other a little. :)

  4. This is so exciting that ya'll husbands are coming in a day! If you are like me, you will go nuts thinking about him while hes on the plane coming here! No cells phone to talk to him! I remember the day Adam came! What an awesome feeling and excitement! Im really happy for you!!!! Happy Holidays to 2 new families!!! (F) -Tam

    Thanks, :)

    but add to that the torture of being at work while he is on the plane... :(

  5. I am growing more excited each day as it grows closer. In the beginning I was afraid to believe he was really coming. You know the longer you wait the more you worry if that day will ever come. Now, I can barely sleep and all I do is think of him coming and how to make him happy and comfortable though he tells me not to worry and he'll love me as I am and not to do so much, lol.

    He will be coming through JFK (New York). He has a six hour layover so that should be plenty of time. I can't believe he is getting on that plane in less than 24 hours!

    I hear you!!! About the house, he knows how I am and he's seen my junk on the webcam and frankly if I'm good enough for him well he knows what he can do. Having said that I'm basically :dance: :dance: that he is coming. :lol:

  6. My husband went to do his medical at the hospital this morning too, lol. They probably keep running into each other. We haven't been able to talk as much since he has been getting ready, spending time with family and friends and all the appointments. I can't believe it is getting so close!

    I'm so picky about my house if anyone is coming to see it for the first time or just guests so of course I want it perfect for him. Not sure if I'll get everything done, but I'll certainly lose sleep trying, lol. I know your not sleeping either. Not much longer to wait though.

    wow, :lol: They probably know each other. I'll have to take this to pm. :wow:

  7. Rocketta! :luv:

    S and S I bet you're freaking out about now being this close now! :dance:

    Yup just three more days!!! :dance::dance::dance:

    Tommorow night is the last night to talk to my hubby on the internet before he leaves. Their flight actually takes off at 4pm on Tuesday (our time) can you believe that? I am so excited and running around trying to get things done and be ready!!!

    I know what you mean but I've decided if the house isn't as I want it oh well he'll survive. As long as I'm there to meet the plane he shouldn't have any complaints.

    I know he already went to the hospital to take his last medical test this morning. My hubby has been very very busy getting ready himself so we've only talked a little since he got his date.

  8. lol, yeah, the comments like that never cease to amaze me. Being my husband is in Jordan, thats exactly the same thing, lol.

    Thanks for commenting. I am going crazy sitting here waiting. I thought for sure he would call by now. The rumor we heard was the place wasn't even open and that the guards just hand an envelope over containing the papers for approval/disapproval. I guess it was more than that.

    How long has he been there? I hate waiting for things. I stayed up until like 2am waiting for Ammar's interview-- I had been awake for almost 24 hours at that point.. and I drifted off to sleep and he called me 15 minutes later... but the wait was terrible. So, can you still go through with the k3/130 if this doesn't work out?

    He waited to call me until he came back. I just got his call. They told him he was a primary approval, but the letter says he is still waiting on his background checks. All his other paperwork came back in order. He was told to just wait for a phone call for further instructions. There were about 100 people there and most of them got the same thing. There was only four or five people who got approved (and background checks were complete) and they were all women who would go to the United States without male relatives coming with them. Like he talked to one older woman who was approved and they already called her saying she will fly on August 5th. Another mother and daughter were approved together and will leave August 7th. Both of these cases they were called a week ago.

    The word is that if you get the letter like my husband got then you will get the refugee so we remain hopeful they will call soon to book his flight. Even if they didn't, he can still go through with the I-130. I just have to do send the affadavit of support and visa application. They are already paid for. Then we would just wait for the embassy interview. Inshallah they will just approve this refugee so he can be here soon.

    On one hand great News but on the other, "Oh Man, more waiting?" :lol:

    Congrats! I'm sure all will go fine. :)

  9. lol, I hope that means soon!

    me too but hubby has a little more to do to catch your husband. Keep HOPE alive! :dance:

    I got a call today from the local agency that handles refugees. They have gotten the request to sponsor my husband after he gets here. They called me to verify that I wanted him to come to my city (lol, of course I do). They are sending back their acceptance today. They also said all we are waiting now on is booking his flight. This means he is approved!!! Hopefully he will get the call from the IOM soon. I am so excited. Not long now.

    :dance::dance::dance:

    big big congratulations to u :dance::dance::dance::dance:

    Thankyou, this is the best news I have heard in a long time!

    I'm so Jealous!!! :blush::blush:

    but CONGRATULATIONS!!! :dance::dance::dance:

  10. They are trying to fix the material support problem, but my husband said he has met some Iraqi families denied refugee for that reason so not sure when it will get fixed. I just read some reports on the Department of State website that said they plan to address that problem.

    According to all estimates I read and looked at, which are many, there are about 500,000 to 800,000 Iraqis in Jordan. They estimate up to 2 million in Syria. I forget the estimates for Egypt, Lebanon and Turkey which also have sizeable refugee populations though lower than Jordan and Syria. Sweden also took in about 30,000 Iraqis before they had to call it quits. It took my husband 3 attempts over a year to get into Jordan even though he was married to me for two of those attempts. He must work for free as a doctor because he isn't authorized to get paid. Yet if he doesn't work then he loses his skills. Some Iraqi doctors are even required to pay the hospital $100 a month to work in them. The whole situation is frustrating.

    I knew Jordan would be slow to process for the spouse visa so I just went ahead and had my husband go the refugee route. He has everything done (interviews, fingerprints, sworn statements, physical exam, etc). It is just the approval and booking the plane tickets that is left. I hate the waiting. We have been married 13 months now, but I know others have had it worse.

    Our husbands are going to be on the same plane, I just have a feeling. :dance:

  11. This thread is just a request for ALL who frequent MENA to have a bit more respect for one another. No one is being singled out, it applies to everyone.

    This thread wasn't started so people could continue on with the bickering started in another thread. It is a polite request for members to have a bit more respect and if they don't like someone steer clear of them and their topics.

    So, move on and don't use this thread to continue the previous subject.

    oh really is it a request for all? I question that based on previous experience? Were you the one who changed the title of my forum was that a polite, nice way of saying move on to the people who were trolling the thread? Do you think that helped keep the peace in MENA or only appeased those who were doing the derailing. It's one thing to ask for peace but another when your not willing to apply rules equally and fairly to establish this peace. And this is a new subject a subject about the fairness of moderation on this site and ways to end the bickering?

  12. I think people who cant take the heat should keep outta the kitchen. meaning, if you dont like a thread that is not violating TOS keep yuh raas way! Why go into the thread and stir the pot and cause all the confusion and bickering? I've seen worse threads on VJ, than the ones stating how hot your man is and those run just fine on VJ. This is childish.

    It's what is leading to the bickering. Someone only need give their opinion once on a subject after that it's TROLLING. Apparently name calling is wrong but trolling hey that's all good as long as you say it's just your opinion and you are using your free speech. :whistle:

  13. Well I think allowing certain posters to derail threads should be a violation of TOS once someone posts their opinions then that should be it but apparently some get to post them over and over and over like their word is the truth and law. Seems to me if you stopped allowing the trolling certain groups would be allowed to bicker? I know I would never go into a thread I didn't agree with and spend the majority of my time but hey that's just me. :)

  14. Don't flatter yourself.....

    believe me I find nothing flattering about you. :)

    That's great because I wasnt trying to flatter you.....

    no kidding? Here I was thinking... oh wait you were the one who brought up flattery.... to that I say no #### sherlock! :dance:

    fyi, I don't think you are posting in this thread because of my husband at all. We all know why your clique is posting in this thread.
