Hello from sunny Texas to you all, i have sent my AOS application in the mail on May 25 to the chicago lockbox and i've yet to hear a peep from the feds. No NOA1, nothing. Should i worry? Seems everyone else gets NOA1 within days i want to work dammit

filling out I-485, at the end of part 1 it asks me for "current USCIS status".
Confusion ensued.

The problem also occurs inter-province. My mother studied for her nursing degree in Ontario and worked in the field a few years. Quebec would not recognize it at all. Had she wanted to continue in her profession she would have had to start schooling ALL OVER again. Ridiculous. And Quebec bitches about it's shortage in health professionals.. Everyone who studies here wants to practice elsewhere and everyone coming in from elsewhere isn't accepted?

As of yesterday we are officially making the trip toooogether! Barring the unforeseen of course. Happiness!

Personally i did the exact same thing, my medical interview was done with my old passport, and since my passport was gonna expire in 2009 i had it replaced, and i went to the interview with a fresh passport. Never even mentioned it during interview.

Yes no cell phones or cameras, etc. I had to buy a calling card so I could call my Fiancee right after the interview from a pay phone and give him the good news!!
From me they took my nail clipper which was attached to my keyring (which i got back, only without the little chain thing it came with so now i can't attach it BACK. grr.. Where do you get those chainy things anyways?
And they took my USB key, which i also got back. Gave me a little ticket to present to reception on my way out.

For the sake of redundancy, i shall add my voice to the thread. You cannot file for K-1 until that divorce is finalized. Straight refusal. No arguing over fine points, no leniancy, no "well they look cute together".
NOT ELIGIBLE.

Yes same here. I bet they're too busy celebrating to think about poor ol' visa journey
-
I dont get it, what's the advantage here?
It seems to be the same thing to me, you still have to wait 2 years to get the 10 year card.. why not get the 2 year card in between instead of just nothing?

Are we talking about a K-1 visa here?? These answer seem wrong

Is there a reason why this is posted in the Canada forum while your profile shows the Philippines?
Because who is smarter then Canadians?
If so smart, why the "then" instead of "than."
Fashionably inaccurate B)

Hurry and find a new job
My belle was working at one place when we started the process, and by the time the NOA2 came she had quit that job and was working at a new place. It never was an issue, they didn't even inquire about it.
But ya, don't lie and try to use these documents to convince them that you are employed when you no longer are. You could get away with it, but get caught and be ready for PAIN.

slightly off topic bitching, stupid quebec with their freakin' office de la langue française, this is an official document, have it in both languages dammit!

Had my CR-1 interview today at the Montreal consulate and am APPROVED !!!
Here is the experience:
Tuesday, Jan 13, 2009: Left Ottawa around 1:00PM to pick up my medical reports as the office closes at 5:00PM. Got the the Sanagex Medicine du Travail at around 3:30 PM. Picked up my sealed X-Ray and reports and went straight to the hotel (Hyatt).
Wednesday, Jan 14, 2009: After a pretty much sleepless night, left for the consulate at around 7:05 AM. The temperature hovered around -20C with windchills bringing that down to -30C (well it felt like that).
7:15 AM: Got to the consulate and there was just one person waiting in front of me (a nice guy waiting for a IR-1 interview). We complained about the weather and got to know each other while a few more people showed up.
7:30 AM: The security personnel opened the doors and we were welcomed inside. A nice break from the chill outside. Somehow there was no order and I got cleared from security, etc faster than the guy waiting for the IR-1 interview.
7:45 AM: We all were waiting in front of the elevator for the security guard to escort us to the appropriate floor. I took this opportunity to apologize to the IR-1 guy about the fact that I innocently was moved ahead of him. He was 'OK' with that.
8:30 - 9:00 AM: After being moved to the 19th floor, I was asked to show up at Window 9 to deposit my expresspost envelope and medical, etc. The person at the window was asking me random questions about my marriage, with regards to where does my wife work in California, and verification of the spellings on the forms that we had submitted. All went well and I was sent back only to be called again in a few minutes for the fingerprints and sent back again :-)
9:10 AM: Called in in a room ( number 8 if my memory serves me right) where I met a very welcoming officer who asked me to swear and all to tell the truth. We then chatted informally about how me and my wife met; What both of us did for a living (Me - A Project Manager, Her- an electrical engineer); where does she live (San Diego)? Did we meet after our marriage and how and where (Yeah a lot of times in the US & Canada -- I had proof but he never asked for it)? Was I ever stopped at the border (NO); and yeah he also verified my right index finger print. He also asked me about the nature of my job -- a typical project that I have worked on !! (Strange but he was probably verifying if I was a real project manager ... maybe I do not look like one ;-))
9:25 AM: APPROVED ... the passport with the visa will arrive in the mail.
12:45 PM: Back in Ottawa at work .... Tired and sleepy .. but relieved !!
But hey .. a BIG BIG THANK YOU to everyone on this forum. This is just a wealth of information which is invaluable. Do not really know what I would have done without you guys !! YOU ROCK !!
I did window 9 and room 8 as well! Did you have a nice lady with longish hair, maybe in her 40s?

I was thinking since the embassy's in montreal they might as well SPEAK french, but since this pertains to the US government they might require that it be in english. Up to you, i had mine translated and they took a copy of the original in french and of the translation for their files.
Something wrong??

What i'm about to say is my entirely uneducated guess, but i got a "warning match" as well, saw it on the screen as i was being printed, and wondered about it. Didn't ask about it, and the girl taking my prints didn't seem to give it two thoughts.
When i did my original interview, so i could get the K1 visa, my prints were taken then, and i assume yours were as well. Therefore my prints are now in the system. Therefore, when they take them again, warning match.
Just my Styx fare on the subject.
