  1. I'm glad to have answers from you all, but a bit concerned, as my husband got a notice of cancellation in the mail today. His appointment was for July 10 in Tucson, AZ. It seems they are pushing them back 2 weeks, according to all your posts, but we will be traveling from July 21 to 29, and it seems almost certain his new appointment will be while we are gone. Any suggestions on what we should do?

I really don't understand why people schedule anything around the times when they are waiting to hear about USCIS appointments. Shouldn't anything that's related to your case be your first priority? Once you're done with all of the AOS stuff, you'll have plenty of time for traveling and whatever else. I can see for truly EMERGENT circumstances, but I rarely see that as a reason given for wanting to change an appointment.

You may need to consider changing your plans. :o

Very kind of you to rush to judgment. Perhaps you should consider that some people don't travel for leisurely vacations, but rather for more sensitive reasons.

I have to agree, sometimes people are being considerate to their AOS situation but have to plan for travel around the same time. We submitted our documentation well in advance as we are planning on having a post-wedding reception in London on US Labor Day (started planning this in December of last year - already paid for the hotel rental, caterer, band, etc.), so we're really pressed to get the biometrics out of the way to make sure the AP is approved in time.

My husband scheduled an INFOPass appointment for today hoping they would allow him to do his biometrics appointment since he showed up on the original scheduled date/time. But he they told him no and to show up at his scheduled time, even after speaking w/ a supervisor.

Looks like Milwaukee CIS doesn't accept walkins!

  2. my husband called the 800 number, here's his recap:

I called the USCIS line and explained the exact wording on the form, after a few minutes wait I was told that there could be several reasons such as training, severe weather or power outage and allow 30 days for a re-schedule letter, and that InfoPass is not where they do the biometrics.

Nonetheless, I proceeded to book an Infopass appointment for this Thursday 2nd July which as I correctly assumed is at the same address as per the original biometrics appointment. My aim is to simply request to do the biometrics on Thursday due to the cancellation letter and non receipt of any new information.

will let you all know what he discovers on thursday!

  3. Thank you everyone for your responses! We will definitely be calling to try to get more info, my husband is thinking about scheduling an INFOPass appointment as well.

We are wondering if there is a system upgrade happening to start utilizing the biometric information stored in some country's passports. My husband is from the UK, and their passport has biometric info stored on a chip within the passport.

If anyone has more information after calling, please post any update you receive, we'll do the same!

    Thanks again,

  4. Hello Everyone,

Just wanted to get your two cents on this...

My husband and I just filed for his AOS, EAD and AP. We received NOAs for all documents. Thereafter we received a notice of an appointment for is AOS biometrics for July 8th. Then today we just received a letter stating "APPOINTMENT CANCELLED" "No Need To Appear At ASC".

Any thoughts on what this means? I've read some other posts stating that maybe he should just go anyone at the originally scheduled time just in case it was a blunder of sorts.

    Thx,

    lhamilt

  5. My husband and I have been married for almost 2 weeks now (yay :D ) after his entering the US on April 11th on a K1. So we waited for awhile to file for his SSN just to make sure he is in all the systems. But as I dig through the SSN instructions/guidance, I'm seeing that the K1 is authorizes the alien to work. If so, what is the necessity of the EAD? Not that I'm trying to avoid filling out another form, but I'm just trying to understand. Thanks!

  6. When we first submitted our petition, I went back and looked at the receipts for all our airline tickets, that helped w/ putting dates on the back of all the pictures. I was a bit ####### about it and printed out the dates, names and locations on mailing labels and stuck them on the back of every photo submitted. Also, not sure if your photo album works the same, but when I upload pictures to my laptop, it auto-creates a folder with the date of when the picture was taken, so that helped too. I'm sure you can make a guesstimate on when the pictures were taken, just think back to some of your trips.

  7. Hello,

I'm just reading over the G-325A form to make sure that I have all the information. I have a couple questions:

    - Who fills the G-325A form out? Is it me (the US Citizen) or my German fiance or both?

    - Where the form says "City and Country", do we not list state?

    - Where the form says "File Number", do I just say None?

    - What should be entered in the Father's City and Country of residence if he is deceased, do we just enter Deceased?

    - For fields where there will be no entry, i.e. extra lines under employment and residence do we enter N/A, Not Applicable or a line through the text box?

    Thanks for your help!

  8. Hi All,

Just wondering about your thoughts concerning changing addresses upon submission of I-129f. I've had my condo for sale for the last couple months so that when my fiance arrives, we can move to a different state where he'll have job opportunities.

My concern is about changing addresses after the form is submitted. I would assume that it is highly not reccomended to change addresses after submitting, but if it is unavoidable: What is the process to update your address? What are the risks involved?

    Thanks,

    lhamilt

  9. Hi Everyone,

As my fiance and I are preparing to submit our initial K1 forms, we are thinking about where we'd like to get married. He's in Germany, and I'm in Wisconsin. I would REALLY like to have a destination wedding b/c there's no way we're going to find a location that will work for all our friends and family spread across the US, UK, and Austrailia.

My question is - does the marriage have to take place in the 50 states, or can it be done in a US territory, like the US Virgin Islands: St. Thomas, St. Croix etc?

  10. Hello,

My SO and I are planning to file for a K-1 visa. When I looked at the instructions for the I-129F form, it says you "have met in person within two years before your filing of this petition".

Does this mean that you cannot have met the person further in advance of two years? Or that you have simply met at least once within two years before filing?

I ask because my SO and I met in March 19, 2006, but we have been flying to see each other every four to eight weeks since then. We're wondering if we need to rush and get our paperwork submitted by March 19, 2008.

    Thanks,

    lhamilt
