Ooh, and CSC has hit 50% approval!

On March 30, 2011, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you.

Just happened to be looking over the latest posts here. I am about to send in my packet probably tomorrow or Monday. What is this about punching holes in the top? Are you punching like the two hole punch in the top so they can put it in a folder? I'll take any tips I can get! I am sending to VSC.
There is a section on the USCIS website that has tips about compiling your packet. One of the tips is to two-hole punch the top of your pages to make it easier for them to create your file. I'm all for making things easy! Here's the link for ya: http://www.uscis.gov...00045f3d6a1RCRD

I'm amazed at how fast it was!
I guess putting the holes at the top of my documents to make it easy for them to file (as they stated on USCIS) won be some brownie points. lol!

Those dollars will be better spent toward an awesome vacation together once this is all said and done.
No lawyer -no matter the reputation- can expedite the waiting aspects of immigration. A lot of folks here on VJ have completed their entire process lawyer-free, and have reached their desired outcomes. It seems the advice you have been given is good. Sit it out, and know that your approval will come soon!

We spent a ton of time and money getting all our costa rican documents translated into English.
During our interview, I presented all the originals (in spanish) first, then asked if she wanted the translations also. She scoffed at me and kindly reminded me that "she is fully able to read both spanish and english" and that my translations were not needed.
I guess it was better to have them than not, but it did seem quite a waste.

Something to keep in mind:
In the early stages, interviews taking place in the beneficiary's country can go either way. Usually the IO will ask which language you would like to have the interview in. Other VJ'ers have posted their advice on how to handle that one.
Later on, remember that your interviews will be happening in the US. Right after the wedding, the beneficiary will be filing for AOS. That does require another in person interview - and you can count on that one being in english. In our case, our IO was not accommodating to the fact that my husband was still learning english. He had a couple very tricky questions right off the bat ("Are you a spy?" and "How many crimes have you committed that you've gotten away with?") and my already nervous husband was thrown for a loop!
You guys have some time to prepare for that round, just something to keep in the back of your mind.

What a horrible situation to be in. I'm so sorry for your circumstances and wish you both the best.
Let me first start by saying how nice it is to see someone being level-headed and articulate about a potentially very serious life issue. You seem intelligent and well-spoken. Good for you for being willing to see all aspects of this situation, and to genuinely seek advice from those who may help.
It seems to me, some of the best insight you may get would be from other folks familiar with Albanian culture. The previous poster (MARJUS'S GIRL) shed some light on that, and to me, that is critical. Have you found any other VJ'ers with partners from Albania that you may be able to use as a sounding board for your concerns?
Obviously the lines of communication are limited with you and your spouse. When you attempt to address some of these challenging issues, she becomes defensive, and the conversations never see resolution. I would address that issue in particular with her. Letting her know that when she gets angry, you feel distrust, and as a result, only assume the worst. Maybe also share with her some of the thoughts you've had. Something like "When I ask you for information, and you provide none, I begin to think about what all the options could be. When I ask you who you are talking to, and you don't tell me, I begin to think it could be x, y, or z." If she really is talking to parents who simply aren't ready to meet you, this may trigger a response in her that would show you she's sad you actually think she could be cheating. If you get no response/a defensive response, maybe you have figured out her secret. Either way, when the next conversation happens, I would start gently offering up what your thoughts are. If she refuses to give you answers, you (like any person would) start to brainstorm what the answers could be. See how she responds to your thoughts.
I'm also curious if you guys have talked about your future goals. Are children going to be in the picture? Is buying a home in your future? Has she expressed what her long-term hopes and dreams are? Most importantly, these life goals should be built around the foundation of you as a married couple. Are you getting those vibes from her?

Check with other Costa Rica folks for this question. A lot of us have timelines that are easy to sort through to get a better idea of timing.
The good news: The costa rican consulate works QUICK!!! We had our interview 28 days after the NOA2 was issued! That was a billion times faster than anyone else who was getting approved around the same time as we were. Once your packet is received by the embassy, you can call and if you are prepared, they will let you schedule your appt. right away. They are usually booked out around 2 weeks ahead. In our case, we had the option to have the interview sooner than I could even get the time off work and get to Costa Rica, so I had to schedule it about a week later than they offered.

It's ironic - I remember when we first filed for the K1, VSC filers were moving a million times faster than us at CSC. I hope things pick up for you east coast folks!

We mailed our ROC on the 18th, it was signed for on the 22nd, and check was cashed on the 24th. So far... looks like good progress from CSC.

Thanks to the OP for a positive post!
As someone who has been through the wait - and survived it - I am thankful everyday for the opportunity I had as a USC to bring my spouse here to my country and enjoy the benefits of living here with me. It is a privilege we have as Citizens to do so, and while the system certainly is NOT perfect, it is in place to unite as many of us as possible. I don't believe USCIS employees take these jobs for the sole purpose of torturing the applicants, nor do I believe they are incompetent.
Staying positive and trying to focus on the long term result will help get through the waiting. Although I admit, I had sleepless nights, so much stress, and quite a depressed spell as we waited - it is worth it in the end!! Try to stay positive!

from my observation here in VJ, people who are requested to have interviews are usually the ones who got divorced before/within 2 yrs of marriage..
i also read something about a special case like the who one who's hubby(USC) is in jail..
Yeah, that appears to be what I've been seeing too. It would sure be nice to just get an approval for once, and not have to stress over another interview! But either way, we'll go with the flow.

Costa Rica is pretty relaxed about the interviewing. So many Americans are residing there that I doubt it would even be an issue - especially if you have a co-sponsor for your financials.
A couple things to keep in mind too though:
The Costa Rican embassy moves quick, quick, quick once you get past your NOA2. Look at our timeline: We had our interview less than a month after our NOA2 was issued. The wait may seem SO hard right now, but if will help to set you guys up to be more successful by having your job, and getting things ready for his arrival, it would be better to stay here and wait for your NOA2. Once that's issued, hop on the next flight to SJO!

From what I've been reading, it would appear that very few folks actually get interviewed for ROC - is that what you guys are seeing too? Is there any indication of how many people actually get interviewed? I wonder if it depends on your local office, the beneficiary's country, or simply individuals' situations and their evidence.
Anybody have particular insight into the rhyme or reason of ROC Interviews?

I like your thought process. I've often spent sleepless nights lying awake thinking about how much better the system COULD be.
However, I always come back to the same twisted thought: Does the government even want/see the need to improve the system? I wonder sometimes if they are simply okay with the inefficiencies, because they will, in a way, help to filter out illegitimate applicants. If it were as easy as pie, with near instant gratification, perhaps a lot more people would pursue this option - and perhaps those would be the types of folks who we typically see "abusing the system."
I think the USCIS knows those of us who truly love our SO's, will withstand the wait, and come out stronger in the end. I feel like it's their way of saying "Alright, do you want this? Let's see just how badly you want it, and how hard you're willing to work." And the result for most of us is jumping through the hoops, waiting the wait times, emailing, skyping, IM'ing with our loved one, and then waiting some more.
I hope I'm wrong, but it's a thought...

Has anyone ever been told to wait 15 to 20 days after your k1 interview for a final result and did not keep your passport ?
Was a blue slip issued at the interview? Was there a request for additional information? Or were you simply told to wait awhile at the end of your interview?
If you can provide a little more info about your interview, and your situation, we can better assist you in offering advice.
