  1. Just wanna share a news that I am now finally a USC. I had the interview on 10/22 and I was also lucky enough to have the same day Oath ceremony. It was a long day for me but I was very happy and felt relief that it was really over!

I arrived at the DO (Baltimore District) and checked in at about 1.5 hour earlier. ( no traffic though).

I thought it would be a long boring wait. Then I was surprised when I was called in after the only 20 min wait!

My interview did not start off smoothly though. IO notified me as soon as I sat down in her office that my application might be submitted too early.

She recounted my days and double checked with her supervisor. I was in the meanwhile really nervous! IO came back in 5 min and told me that my application was ok to process. I asked her what would happen if it was not ok..she replied quickly that I would be declined.

I would recommend everyone to make sure your days of eligible submission, otherwise it could create unfortunate results.

IO then got right started the interview process, I swore in then she asked for my passport, Greencard and DL. IO did not ask for any originals or additional documents from me.

    We went through the test very quickly I answered correctly 6 questions and these are the questions;

    1. Names countries that were our enemies during the World War II

    2. In what year was the Constitution written?

    3. What colors are the stripes on the flag?

    4. Who nominates judges for the Supreme court?

    5. What the capital of the state you live in?

    6. What is the minimum voting age in the United States.

IO then moved on to the reading and writing test. Then she congratulated me that I passed all the test, I signed the photos and a paper. She reviewed information and asked questions on the application. She especially reviewed my tax income that filed in my case, just to confirm my marriage status. Then she congratulated me and handed me the N-652 interview result with an announcement that my application was recommended for approval.

IO also offered me an appointment for an OATH Ceremony that was held later on the same day. I was so excited and very happy to attend the Ceremony afterward. The interview process took about 20 min, even finished before my actual appointment time. IO was very professional and helpful. She gave me some advises about the OATH Ceremony and apply for a passport as well.

At the Oath Ceremony, there were 35 new USCs. It was a lifetime experience. I was very happy and could not believe that I became a new proud USC. I returned my greencard and every new USC received a welcome kit and letter. We swore in and sung a National Anthem. I received a Naturalization Certificate and ended the Ceremony with pictures taken. The process lasted about 45 mins.

This has been a long frustrate process for me, although it actually ended within a timeline process (a total of 177 days).

I did have a rough path about getting my FP. I contacted USCIS and made INFO PASS many times until I got my FP appoinment. I never gave up hopes and I always trust my instinct. I really want to thank every post member here who shares experiences and information.

You all have been very helpful.

  2. I have not been in here for a long time. I would like to update my timeline. Today I received IL scheduled for Oct 22/08.

I am very excited and can't wait for the day to come!!!

    Good for you! congratulations!

I was wondering what happened if your process had come to an end - glad to hear it's almost done

    K

Thank you K! My journey was finally over. I hope you get a progress to the interview and the Oath ceremony very soon.

I will post my interview experience below and hope it maybe helpful for any members here

  3. NickD,

When I was told that there was no requirement for the FP, as it was still valid I was not really thinking about the 80.00 fee back. I was a kind of hoping it would be just gone through the process as normal timeline.

    hotairguy,

I had the same answer as well, that my previous FP would vaild for 13 months. From your shared experience which is very helpful to me, I am now looking forward to hearing from USCIA by AUG or SEP if I will get the FP apointment. I don't think that our case would go by directly to the interview process without having a complete FP.

Your timeline makes sense in case that our case get to take off after previour FP expired.

Look like we happened to be the unlucky ones who have to wait and wonder if the case was processing correctly.

    Btw CONGRATULATIONS to your IL!

  4. It has been six months after filing N-400 ihave not received finger prints, I made a info pass and went to immigration office and the lady told me that she dont understand why i was not finger printed. But every time i call 1800 number they tell me they have my finger prints. and they are waiting on background check which is not true, I call again today and talked to senior officer and he was surprised too why i am getting this letter and responses. But the problem is this this i know for sure i can wait for another ten years and my case will not move forward unless i get fingerprinted.

The problem is this when immigration office send a request to servicee center lazy people see it on computer and that i am waiting for back ground check they send me this letter

I have the same experience as yours.

Mine has not been that long yet, please see my timeline. But i started worrying after a month as there was any FP notice. According to member's timeline here, I called and had info pass early on June. IO says the same thing that I am not required for FP and quering for the interview as my previous FP is still valid. I am not convincing as I have never heard that the process will be completed without the FP and background check.

I am atleast knowing that you are having such a same problem. I hope that USCIS does not make any errors that slow our case down.

It is very frustrate to keep looking out for information about the case and you did not get whether the answer is true or not.

All I can do is to wait and make info pass if I do not hear anything further from them.

Please let me know how is yours going..

    Thanks a lot for sharing

  5. I had info pass last week to find out about my FP notice and appointment.

IO said there was no need to have one for my case as my previous FP from I751 was still valid. I had my FP on June 21 last year. I double checked with her serveral time as I never heard of this before. IO confirmed my FP was valid for 15 months.

I still really have a doubt..as everyone seems to get their FP done for N400 despite their previous valid FP.

Any suggestions to share..I am afraid if there is something else that I missed.

Thank you all for any answers

  6. Hi all,

I filed my case end of Apr, 2008, received NOA on 05/15. My service center is at Vermont. I am getting worried since it's been about 10 days and I still have not received Biometric notice.

I hope it does not get lost in the mail... :crying:

Is there any filers during Apr/ May who hasn't yet received the Biometric letter? Please share your timeline/experience. Most members here seem to get their appointments already just a few days after their NOAs.

I plan to call USCIS next week to find out but not sure if it is too early for my case??

Thank you all for helping out.

  7. Another quick (and probably the last for a while...) update. Biometrics done this morning. I guess now the long wait starts...

Hey guys this is my timeline.

    1 apr 08 N400 sent

2 april 08 Received by VSC

    8 april 08 Check cashed

19 april 08 NOA received ( expect to be notified in 365 days)

NOA did not say anything for biometrics..

    called uscis, IO said that

23 april 08 FBI name check started

My understanding is that FBI polls out the entire file for every applicant from the National Record Center from the day 1 we enter US. (IO conversation).

    Let's see what happens everyone.

I am so far having the same experience with you. It maybe to early for me to worry, but just want to share if it happens to be the same path. I still have not received a FP letter. Many post members here have already gotten their FP appoinments just after a few days their NOA arrived. My NOA (05/15/08) says nothing about FP or Biometric just notified that I should expect the date and place for the interview within 180 days.

Is there anyone else having the same experience with us?

  8. Got my notice for Biometrics for May 22nd. But I have to travel to Canada. The letter says I can go on Wednesday of following week as long as I complete it before August. Has anyone not gone to the Biometrics appointment without canceling it and gone for it the week after?

Following this below link at Post#10, they also have discussion about the walk in Biometric. I hope it helps

  9. Filed on 04/29/08

    Check cashed 05/05/08

Was able to verify my file online with the LIN number written on my check and adding *00 between LIN and the 7 numbers on the check.

    No NOA yet

Still waiting on an NOA here too

VSC is slowing down big time :crying:

    K

Never mind, the NOA finally arrived!

    Hi K,

I am glad to hear you are one step closer. I have been waiting for my NOA too, I filed my case at Vermont and it looks like my status is about a week behind you. Cross my finger to get it this week!

    :)

  10. I really hope someone could give me some advises about my situation.

Right now I am a 10 years Green card holder (through the marriage to USC). I am looking forward to applying for US Citizenship by this year.

The problem is I had overstayed from times to times during the past 10 years. Each time I stayed and worked for about 1 year while I was holding F1 and B1 Visas. I also had some records on paying taxes.

I have been very worried whether I still be qualified to apply for the Citizenship?

I understand that I must be truthful about the information therefore I am hestiating to complete my application espeacially the part to provide the residency and working history in past five years.

I certainly do not want to be terminated my PR status (I heard that many PR were deported when they filed for Citizenship because of the mislead information).

    Your advise is truely appreciated.
