  1. The I-485 NEEDS something to be based on. Read form I-485's instructions, on page one read 1, B. This states it is filed concurrently with an immigrant visa petition that if approved would result in an immediate relative process. This requires a complete I-130 along with $355 fee.

There is a guide for this. :guides:

    Thank you for your help.

  2. Good Luck!!!!

My experience with N-400 was nothing like the I-751. Naturalization process took me 3 months and everything was smooth. I had interview on June 26 and my oath is on July 11.

On the other hand, my I-751 was not approved for 16 months and only during the citizenship interview they finally approved it. It was a long long journey for me.

    Good luck for you guys!!!!!!

  3. Hello,

I had my interview on June 26 and they did not ask me to show taxes, but I had all the documents with me and I asked IO if he needs any updated documents. Since my N-400 was based on 3 year marriage to my husband and my I-751 was pending, he asked me for some new bills, bank statements and etc. to show that we are still living together. I have him gas, electrical, phone and bank statements ( about 2 of each). He did not however look at them and he just filed them.

I would take all the documents they ask for if you want to have smooth interview. Tax transcripts arrive in about a week so you have plenty of time.

    Good luck.

  4. Congrats & Thanks for sharing your experience

    Hello,

Just for clarification, for the I-751 we have submitted all kinds of papers: leases, mortgage docs, bills, insurances, 401K documents, letters from our firneds and so on. So they had like 100+ pages of the evidence and plus I am preganat right now. So please make sure you send all the documents you have and then you will not have any issues.

My interview was in the Chicago downtown office and as I mentioned before they were very efficient and nice.

    Thanks

  5. Here is may experience from the interview.

I arrived to the USCIS office at 8 AM and my interview was scheduled for 9:05. They called my name at 8:10.

The lady who had my file askedfor copy of my GC, but I told her it is stapled inside my passport because my I-751 is pending. Then she said "Shi*****" and appologized for it :) She asked if my husband was with me and I said no, since during the infopass they told me that he does not need to come with me. Then she told me to wait and transferred my file to the other gentelman.

The IO was very nice. He said that they are seeing more and more cases like mine, where I-751 and N-400 are both sent to them for approval together. He said he already had 3 cases like this last week. Since my husband was not with me he said some IO sent people home and ask them to come back together, but he said he never does that (nice ha). He reviewed my I-751 paperwork, asked if I have any new papers and I gave him new phone, gas, electrical and my 401K bills showing our names.

After that, he asked me 6 citizenship questions ( very easy), I wrote and read one sentence and he said that my case was approved. Gave me a letter saying that both N-400 and I-751 were approved.

I was there around 25 minutes total.

Does anybody know how long you have to wait for the oath letter in Chicago?

Thank you all for support and good luck!!!!!!

  7. Hello,

Today I went to Chicago USCIS office to get my second stamp (first one they gave me was valid only for 60 days and my NOA is 01/31/07).

Lady who was assisting me was quite interesting. I asked her if there is a reason why my I-751 has not been approved for 15 months and some people have their completed in 3-4 months. She said that it is me who is married to my husband and not somebody else and that there is not universal processing time for everybody........It made me think they do not like my husband.........or me????????

I have N-400 interview in June and I asked her if my husband should come since my I-751 is still pending. At first she said she doesn't know, but later she said if they need my husband- they will let me know. So I guess he can go to work and not waist his time.

Finally, she was looking at my passport for 15 minutes. I have many visas and stamps since my college years in Europe, and apparently she liked looking at them. After 15 minutes she put a stamp for 5 months only!!!!!!!! and stapled my green card inside my passport. It looks terrible, as there is a hole in my passport now and giant staples.

Anyway, hopefully after my naturalization interview I will NEVER have to deal with USCIS.

    Thanks

  8. I must admit that most of the times custoemr service at USCIS was very professional although they did not have any information for me.

Once I was told that things happen and cases get lost. She said it is a human error......... I wish I could tell this line to me boss at work :)

I am always nice on the phone because I do hope they record these conversations, but my last call was nothing but nice. Guy was ignorant and hung up on me.

  9. My NOA is Jan.31, 2007 (Nebraska) and my case was last touched on March 11, 2007- Over a year ago!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :crying:

I am also unlucky and my case was not moved to CSC . I have no luck with USCIS. I gave up calling them after last unpleasant conversation I had.

Take care everybody and congratulations for the lucky people who have their 10 year GC in their hand.

  11. Although I have received that confusing email below from USCIS, status of my case online has not changed and it shows the last update on 03/11/07.

It is confusing. Anyone has an idea what this e-mail means?

If this means an interview, how long you have to wait? I will be away in June for 3 weeks for training and I am concerned.

  13. I just returned from my business trip to Canada and I agree it was not a pleasant trip.

I had a stamp in my passport (valid only for 2 months) and expired green card, but since my passport was in my maiden name and all other documents in my married name- it was not a pleasant trip. They search me each way and I was pulled on the side while by boss was waiting for me. It was not a pleasant moment.

My boss want me to go to Japan for training, but I do not want to go because I am scared that I migth get stuck there. There is a huge difference between going to Canada and Japan and if officers in Canada are not aware of these stamps, I don't think that the ones in Japan will be better.

I am already waiting for 14 months for the I-751.......
