  1. I will be going through Halifax for my POE (when the time arrives) as well. I've flown out of Halifax for all my trips down though, and I can honestly say I've only ever had one lad that was iffy with my responses. I gave him a few more details about my visit and he was satisfied. They are all very good there, I hope you get the older gentleman I had twice - Nicest man you will ever meet :) Asked me about my fiance and what my favorite things to do when we were together. He said he can just imagine how lovely a wedding we will have once we get our paperwork <3

I don't think you have any reason to be worried. Give them your answer and look them in the eyes, and they generally are quite happy to stamp you and send you along :)

hey guys, I am from Halifax tloo I am doing things a little slower than you guys. My boyfriend lives in Boston so I am down there usually every 2nd weekend and he comes up here occasionally (he hates to fly). Early next year we wil lbe applying for the K1 i am interested to see how your POE's are so please post or send me an IM. The old Guy is Patik isn't he awesome hes the manager of them all, he always talks to me and is so friendly. There is a nice lady too, I have never had an issue with the US Agents when I go thru, I was honest with them too telling them I am visitng my boyfriend etc, they always tease me saying one of these days Im gonna see a visa on file for you!!! Good luck with your POE's

  2. CR/IR is better than K3 since you don't need to adjust your status when you arrive here in the US.

Im from Canada and about an hour plane ride away from Boston. As a canadian you are allowed to enter the USA without a visa approval for a max of 6months they automically give you a B2 when you pre-clear thru customs in canada. If we marry in the USA and apply for the CR1 do I have to return to canada and file or can I stay there and just keep going home every 6 months.

  3. We are just trying to figure out what visa to apply for originally it was gonna be the K1. I have looked thru the K3 guides and info and the CR1 info just wondering which one is best. I am alittle confused as it says in the K3 forum you can apply for a CR1 at the same time. I just want to make sure I understand my options here. If I apply for the CR1 i don't have to apply for the K3 aswell do I.

  4. I am no where near the AOS stage but I like been organied. If u get a medical done within one year from your AOS, i read that this iall you have to submit your D-3025 with your AOS forms you don't have to submit an I693 have it completed by a civil surgeon. Then I saw a thread the other day that said you had to get a civil surgeon to transfer the D-3025 for you to the I693 form as the I693a form is now obselete. Can someone please explain the procedure to me. I am confused as there are references that you have to get the Civil surgeon just to complete the DS 693 form what is this form?

  5. It does help to know what visa you're applying for, and to have your timeline filled in. Just a few pieces of information however my point you in the right direction.

Here is a list of vaccinations by age: http://panelphysicians.com/Pages/Immunizations.htm

You may be told that a beneficiary from Canada doesn't have to have their vaccinations before leaving Canada. Technically that's true, however almost all Canadians have it done in Canada because they can usually have it done for free before we leave, rather than paying someone to have it done before applying for AOS once in the US.

Your other question was about lost or unobtainable vaccination records. You can have a titre test done in Canada that will show your immunity to certain diseases so that you only get vaccinated for what you haven't had.

I am no where near the AOS journey yet but I like to have everything in order way ahead of the game (maybe a little OCD!!!) I am a little confused on the whole I693 AOS process. I understand that i can get my titres done by my family physician here and take that to my medical with me. When I come to adjust my status and its within a year from when I had my medical do i still have to have a civil surgeon complete the supplement form for me or can I just send a copy of what I received at my medical.

  6. So we are looking at all our options before we decide how we are going to proceed. My boyfriend lives in the US and I have dual citizenship British and Canadian. I was born in England and immigrated to Canada in 1990. I still have my british passport and travel on it once in a while instead of my canadian one. I am wondering can I go the VWP route? With a K3 you have to leave the country and wait for your approval, I was wondering if this route would allow us to marry in the US and let me stay there while i adjust my status.

  7. Well I have been looking this afternoon on the HRDC website with regards to the EI benefits. I can not find anything should you move to another country to marry. I earn over $50,000 a year and have worked at the same job for 6 years and have never applied for EI before in my life. I am wondering if anyone knows if we would receive the same amount as we would if we lost our job due to downsizing for example. The maximum benefit you can earn is 55% of $ 41,000 per annum to a weekly benefit of $435, so If i lost my job today I would qualify for that amount wondering if it would be same amount if I moved? Anybody going thru this. I tried to call HRDC but i was on hold forever!!!

  8. Whenever you get your check cashed, check the back of it. There you should find a number starting with EAC08 or WAS08.

(Eac is for Vermont, Was is for California)

That is your receipt number! It is also the same number you will find when you receive the NOA1 hard copy.

When you have that receipt number, go on http://egov.uscis.gov/cris/jsps/index.jsp

and register yourself as a customer. When you log in you can register your application to your portfolio and register to receive email updates. Remember that you will only receive email updates when you register, when you are approved or when you receive RFEs.

Otherwise, whenever you log in you will see a "last updated" date. That is the day your application received the last "touch".

I didn't realize I got my check back? do they automatically do that or do I have to request it. sorry for all the questions just want to be prepared

  9. Hi, I was born in England and moved to canada 18 years ago. Of course I don't have any of my medical records for my vaccinations polio etc. I am pretty sure I need these during this process. Does anyone have any idea what you should do if you can't retrieve your vaccination records? Does anyone know what vaccines are required by the beneficiary?

  10. I am just taking a look at the G325A form, I have a question. The 5th line down it asks Form Husbands or wives name. In the next box it has first name, but where would I put his last name? Stupid question but I don't want to assume with the VSC!!!

    Thanks

I just found it thankyou so much. Another question. it indicates to put the date of marriage and the place and country, I can't fit it all in on one line, any suggestions. I see you will be moving to Mass, I will be too, I just love it there. It reminds me alot of home here, I am only 50 mins away by plane so very lucky.

  12. I am really tempted to get my mom to ship me some heinz ketchup and Karft dinner...

I always here that Heinz ketchup and sherddies and KD are big items canadians miss. I was just down in Boston for 3 weeks with my honey and they had KD and Heinze ketchup there, (no sherddies) weired how the boston has it and the west doesn't!!!

  13. Girls,I need to vent now!

If any of you have had a similar situation, please share!

I'm talking about how we get judged by people who don't really know us, but have the feeling we're hunting.

I spent a hole summer with my fiance and i got really close to some of his friends and his family really likes me, but there is people who are trying to make him think that getting married to me is a mistake. He don't give a s.....t on all those"advisers", but that is pissing me off.

And i wonder is it a hole life i'm going to be disrespected by b...ches who are going to think i'm week for not having attitude with my husbend,i'm week if i'm not acting like a b...ch?

have you been disrespected like this ever? How do you handle.

I mean, as long as i don't meet these certain persons i'm cool, but it's enough to remember about them and i get all irritated.

    That's not fare.

Oh girl, don't you worry about it at all. I have an american Fiance and I am from Canada. One of his friends made a comment one time that all I was looking for was a green card. I had to laugh and told the person really I am from Canada its not as though Canada is worse that the USA. I am the one who is giving up alot here not my fiance. I have family here, I have an awesome job that pays very very well but as my fiance is and always has been a police officer and my employer has an office in the USA it was decided that it would be better in the long run for me to move there as i could probably get a job in my field alot easier than he could become a cop here in canada. Some people are just rude and ignorant and don't think before they speak. At the end of the day all that you have to concern yourself with is what your fiance thinks. Hang in there girl

  14. During my Spring Break in March were heading up to Newport RI, maybe drive up to Boston for the day. Only been to the Airport! Would be cool to catch a Bruins game!! They do play the Leafs on Thursday march6 and the Caps on Saturday!

I am going to a bruins game next saturday in boston, they play Washington I think. Yeah my first Bruins

  15. Hi All, I have dual citizenship, I have a canadian passport and a british passport. I mostly travel on my Canadian passport as it seems to be less hassle at the pre-clearance customs. My question is.... While I am in the K1 process and I travel back and fourth to visit my fiance, if I use my british passport will they still know that I am applying for a visa. Its no big deal to me as I have enough evidence to show my ties to Canada, lease agreements, letter from my employer etc and I know the border agents at the airport from flying back and fourth every 2 weeks, but I was curious if it would show up on their system.

  16. Thats so awesome for you. I see your local office is Boston. Mine will be boston too as that is where my baby lives. We are lucky as i live in Nova Scotia so we can see each other frequently as its only an hour plane ride. I love boston it reminds me of here abit.

  17. Hi all, just wondering, if you apply for the K1 visa can you live in the USA while its getting processed. I know I can't work and I would have to go back to Canada after 6 months or when the interview is which ever comes first. What about if we applied for a K3 visa if I got married down there could I stay there and apply or would I have to come home and wait.

  18. I thought it was strange. I immigrated here 12 years ago with my family from England so this process is not really that new for my family and my dad thought I was crazy too!! Thats awesom we can enter here. I am in Halifax so we have the pre-clearance here and as I fly back and fourth every 2 weeks the customs agents know me now by name and are really friendly with me. One of them said to me last week why don't you just move down!!!

  19. I am just wondering, as canadians we pre-clear us customs here in canada, so what happens when we get our Visa approval how do we enter the USA and go thru immigration if we enter as a domestic. I heard that we canadians had to fly over to England and then fly back to a POE in the USA so we could go thru immigration. Is this true?
  20. Hi all Canucks!!! I just signed up on this site its awesome. I will be applying for the K1 visa shortly. My beloved lives in the USA. The info on here is amazing you really don't need a lawyer at all. I was concerned about the process as I was previously married, divorced Jan 1 2008, but it seems this is not really an concern with the process as long as you have all the documentation to prove the divorce is final and I do.
