Went in for the interview yesterday. It was a simple and quick procedure. I arrived at 8:25 a.m. for my 8:30 a.m. interview. I was asked into the office of my examiner by 8:50. She asked me all kinds of legal questions (e.g. was I ever engage in prostitution, do I do drugs, etc.) and then she asked me 6 questions from the exam (she prepared 10 but since I gave correct answers to the first six, she stopped. I was asked to write down the following words "Today is Columbus day" and to read the following words "Columbus day is in October". After that she told me I passed.

I was scheduled for the same day ceremony which started at 12:25 and finished at 1:25 p.m. after which I went to the Seattle passport agency where I was told that I will have my passport at earliest this Saturday (3 days) or at latest next Wednesday (7 days). I had paid the expedite fees although I didn't have travel dates (my company sometimes sends me on trips with very short notice).

I am happy to be done with the process, can't believe I am now a citizen after about 13 years as non-citizen and I wish good luck to everyone else in this process.

is it me or is taking forever? I cant believe that there's people inline for interview for almost two months and no movement yet....

I'm with you. Our group started off very well, things were moving fast, but then we got into the time frame when we are expecting interviews to be scheduled and the train suddenly slowed down, significantly...

I tried to copy and paste everything but wasn't not able to do it so I could update Interview Date N.O.A came in today for my wife interview date is 24 March 2014. If someone can update it for me would really appreciate it.

Hey, what I do is copy the entire table, then hit "reply", then paste the table, add my information, then post the reply.

Go on-line and complete the AR-11 and print out the confirmation page for you records. You will need to list all addressed live at for the past 5 years and by filing the AR-11, even late, you have at least tried to follow the USCIS's rules. This is one of those things that I am sure does not get done like it is supposed to. Followed by US citizen's not reporting their change of address to the USCIS when they have sponsored someone using the I-864.

Hey guys, I hope that you can help me -

I am a permanent resident who is now qualified to file for naturalization based on the 5-year rule. Since obtaining my permanent resident status, I changed my address (within the same city, just different location). I believe that I never notified USCIS of my change in address. Now, before filing for Naturalization (N-400), should I file the AR-11 first? Should I perhaps call USCIS and confirm with them that they don't have my updated address (maybe I did send in the AR-11 and just forgot about it)?

She needs to get the record showing her entry , but land trip most of the times they do not stamp , they just scan the passport, but they have the record o her entry,then she has to file a document called FOIA, ( Freedom of Information Act) to obtain copy of her entry.She has to email the CBP, she can do that online.

She must include arrival date, what City,name, date of birth, place of birth, address,phone number, her parents' name. She can notarize her signature or declare under penalty all information are correct. She can mail to:

She can't forget to notarize the letter with her signature or draft a sworn declaration under penalty of perjury and then attached to the email.After 10 days they will send her an email saying her request was received and it will take a while for them to send her FOIA (4/6months). They won';t come to "get her" because she is filing FOIA, like many people thing, she will be fine.

She will be able to stay here illegally , because you are a GC holder there is a wait list for a immigrant visa number become available for her, around 3 years until she gets the number she will be living here .

Once you become Us Citizen she won;t have any problem to adjust her status since she can prove she was inspected when she entered in the USA.

If you have enough proof of bonafide marriage you will be able to naturalize without problem.

Hello everyone,

I haven't visited this site for a long time. My overall situation is now more complicated than ever. I looked through some of the topics but couldn't see a place where all of the below would be covered. I was hoping that there would be somebody who could provide an answer for each of my questions and that doing this would benefit both me and multiple other individuals.

Here is the story - I am currently a permanent resident. I obtained this status through marriage. I was on a student visa and then married a naturalized American citizen. This was in 2007. By 2011, her and me divorced.

It has now been about 2.5 years since then and I have been dating a new girl for about 1 year. I am in love with her, but guess what: she is in the U.S. on a tourist visa, has been here for about 3 years and doesn't even have the form which proves that she entered legally. Basically, when she came to the U.S. she walked across the border from Mexico (she is a Mexican citizen), but the border people never stamped her passport. The visa within her passport is still valid, it never expired. However, she never obtained a stamp or any kind of a form showing that she entered the U.S.

I really want to marry this girl, I love her with all my heart. But, before I proceed, I want to understand all the consequences. So, here are my questions, in summary:

1) Will she have some problems due to the fact that she doesn't have a stamp or any proof of entry (although she has a valid tourist visa)?

2) Will I be able to ensure that her beautiful face will be able to stay in the U.S.?

3) Will I have a higher chance of securing her papers if I apply for them once I become a U.S. citizen (5 year anniversary of my green card issuance is this October);

4) Will I have any problems securing my citizenship now that I am divorced? (I never contacted U.S. immigration to let them know that I got divorced... note that the divorce occurred one year after my permanent green card was issued).

Everyone, I also received the approval via email today, at 3:30 p.m.. I have updated the above listing.

As an FYI, I had received three weird RFE's (biometrics related). I called USCIS on Monday and agent said they couldn't do anything because I was still within the normal processing time-frame. I don't think that phone-call sped things up, but at least it gave me some comfort.

I just checked our status a few days ago and our case hadn't been touched since 11/24 and then I got the approval e-mail today. I was going to call them today, as our status still said we had an RFE. But nope, we never got one. And the status now reads that card production was ordered.

So - what's up with the VSC? They didn't send out any screwy letters but they also haven't approved any October filers yet? Sucks that all of us are divided into these two camps based on where we live ...

Have any of you not responded to the second request (i.e. not sent in copies to USCIS) and still got approved?

Hey guys, first of all congrats to all of those who have been approved!

Second, could someone update my data in our timeline. Not sure why, but I can't seem to get it right. My NOA1 date was 10/14/2010 and my Biometrics date was 11/22/2010.

By the way, I am in the same boat as some of you other people who received that wierd request for biometrics dated 11/23. But, as others suggested, we can all ignore that.

Has your online status changed? If not, I can't imagine that they've cancelled your AP. I specifically asked the IO at the interview if I should still use the AP if I needed to go back to Canada and he said yes, everything is just the same as it has been until you get your GC. If your AP is no longer valid, why didn't they didn't take it from you at the interview? Weird.

Yes, I interviewed on 10/17 in Seattle, and my status still has not changed. However, I am not concerned as I have my AP if I need to travel anywhere and my EAD which doesn't expire until May 2009. So, I really don't care as long as my green card arrives before May. I have time...

Hi everyone and again congratulations for all the good news. I just wanted to let you know that on Saturday, I made my planned trip to Canada. I didn't have aa Canadian visa, but showed the Canadian customs my Advance Parole document for USA, and I let them know that I only want to spend 24 hours in Canada to participate in a team handball tournament. Canadian IO read through the AP document, stamped my passport and let me in.

On my way back, I had the U.S. customs stamp my AP and I was welcomed back.

Just to remind, I already had my interview on 10/17, and lady that interviewed us said we were approved (or "suggested for approval"). Status not yet changed on USCIS website since biometrics. AP obviously was still valid.

This is interesting, because technically without green card ou a canadian visa they would not let someone to go there...

One thing that the officer told me in my interview was that I could not use the AP anymore, that I could not let the country until I receive my greencard...Until now nothing change in the USCIS site..so I don't know if (just in case) I use the AP for to travel is ok or not! He told me to not use the AP at all.

Yeah, and I can't really guarantee that everything would be fine if you used AP... I took a little bit of a risk. But, I did call USCIS. If I was you and I had to travel, I would call USCIS, and have them confirm that AP is still valid (without mentioning what officer told me). I would record what USCIS tells me over the phone and bring that with me.

If you do not have a visitor visa or your green card, you will not be admitted to Canada. See if you can get the I-551 stamp in your passport. Its as good as green card, and Canada treats US LPRs same as UCs. But without the card or the stamp, you have no proof that you are a LPR

I just wanted to let everyone know that I went to Canada yesterday and was successfully admitted. At the border (ground crossing on I-5 between Seattle and Vancouver), I was asked for passport. When officer saw my passport was Serbian, he asked for green card. I said that I didn't have it and that I do have an Advance parole document to reenter United States. They had me get outside of the car and into the offices they have at the border. Another officer there looked through my AP document, and asked about my intentions (wanting to be in Canada less than 24 hours to play in a handball tournament). After reading through my AP, Canadian immigration officer stamped my passport and welcomed me into Canada.

I returned to USA about 12 hours later, and U.S. customs just stamped my Advance Parole document and welcomed me back in.

I thank you all for responses and wanting to help. In general, based on my experiences, even when you don't have a visa, immigration officers have right to admit you into their country (as they did with me into Canada). This was completely logical in my case, as I had the AP document, and had my work papers to show I have to be back on Monday in Seattle in order to work. I understand that maybe this wouldn't always work, but I thought that it was worth trying and I did it. I also did this once in England (asked to leave the airport while in transit for 24 hours although I didn't have UK visa, and once in Mexico, same thing, didn't have visa). Hi everyone and again congratulations for all the good news. I just wanted to let you know that on Saturday, I made my planned trip to Canada. I didn't have aa Canadian visa, but showed the Canadian customs my Advance Parole document for USA, and I let them know that I only want to spend 24 hours in Canada to participate in a team handball tournament. Canadian IO read through the AP document, stamped my passport and let me in.

On my way back, I had the U.S. customs stamp my AP and I was welcomed back.

Just to remind, I already had my interview on 10/17, and lady that interviewed us said we were approved (or "suggested for approval"). Status not yet changed on USCIS website since biometrics. AP obviously was still valid.
