  1. Hi everyone,

I have a bit of a problem. We are missing the Certificado de Antecedentes Judiciales, it's in Peru and we received the paperwork to send in the DS-230 yesterday. I called the Visa Center and they said that we will need the original before the case can be completed. I'm not sure what to do.

Should I send everything we have now with a letter stating that we will have the original paperwork at the interview?

Should I wait the two weeks until the certificate arrives?

I don't know what to do. The certificate was supposed to come in with a friend but they have managed to lose it at the airport!

If I can get a scanned copy of the document I know i can get it signed by the Peruvian consulate here, should I go that route?

Sometimes it feels like Cesar is never going to be here...

    Thanks for your help!

    Eva

    Hi Eva,

You're amost there, hang in there. As for the Certificado, are you on the CR1 route? If so, the NVC requires all the paperwork before they will schedule your interview in Peru. As for a scanned copy, I'm not sure if they would accept that. You may want to email NVC and ask them. They usually respond in a couple of days to emails last time I did this. If they say no, I would just wait for the original.

    Good Luck!!!!

  2. When it comes to having the SO at the interview, I personally see no advantage to it other than just being there for your spouse. In fact, I think embassy's at times use having the SO there to actually try and debunk the information the beneficiary is stating. I say this only because it seemed that during our interview comparing our stories seemed to be a priority to the officer. Hopefully your embassy is different. Just my 2 cents.........

    Good Luck!!!!

  3. I hope I am able to save a few people the disappointment and frustration we are going through...

After trying to ensure that everythig was in order with our documents, by following the State Department and Embassy Specific instructions on-line, we discovered today when our visa was "denied" pending the submission of a RENIEC endorsed marriage certificate. It was an apparent mis-interpretation on my part...but all Peruvians outside of Lima, need to have this endorsement.

Birth Cert. (We Had RENIEC endorement)

Marriage Cert. (If not married in Lima - We Did Not Have)

I am told by embassy staff that this is the only thing holding up our visa. It will take a week for us to get the new document and endorsement. We then have to submit it via DHL to the embassy, which takes another 10 days to process + return time.

    I hope this helps....Peace

Ouch!!! I feel for you guys.....Godspeed in getting the RENIEC and VISA approved ASAP!! You're almost there......

This is a great post for anyone about to interview in Lima on CR1 and not sure on final requirements. My wife and I were not aware that she actually needed the RENIEC either, but she tied it up anyway. I can see now that it is a must....

Hey Felicity, Congratulations on your interview date.....I'm not sure how to answer your questions, but I will tell you that my wife basically gathered any info when it came to her past vaccinations from her hospital, when she received the packet it told her the tests required and the 3 doctors were also listed. There was more than enough time from the time she received the letter to the the interview.....you'll be fine....congrats again and good luck!!!

  5. We arrived about 7:45 in the morning. A gentlemen checked the paperwork out front as to the purpose of our visit. We were then let in and asked to wait with many other people in the Immigrant Visa room. We were told to expect a wait of about 4 hours. Aorund 8:15 my wife was called up to window 11 where they collected her photos and passport as well as her medical exam. She was then told to have a seat. At about 9:15 my wife was called to window 12 where she was asked approximately 5 questions.

    1. Where and when did you meet?

    2. Do you have any family in the United States?

    3. When was the last time your spouse visited?

    4. When was the first time he visited?

    5. Do you have any photos and can we see them?

She answered all the questions and was then asked to have a seat and wait to be called to the interview and that I could accompany her. While we waited she told me all the questions they asked. At about 9:45 we were called to room 15. A young man probably in his late 20's or early 30's got on his computer and started to type. He asked me questions in english and my wife in spanish although he knew we could both speak spanish. He asked me the exact same questions they asked my wife earlier. They also asked me where we planned to live and what I did for a living. He had my wife sign the DS230 part 2 form and then took her prints. He said we were approved.......that's pretty much it. Take some reading material and relax........i'll be posting this in the embassy review section...

Thanks to everyone here on the forums.....and good luck to all....I'm glad the wait is finally over.

  6. Hey All ! Wow my bf told me that We got the NOA 2 , well I dont nothing yet on my hands but well I will call on monday I cant wait so what I have to do now?????

    Congrats Felicity,

Your case will be sent for quick processing through NVC hopefully......usually takes a couple of weeks before they get it.

  7. Man this is getting more then upsetting What's up with Delhi CO's are they being told to put a certain amount of cases into AP/AR as our interviewer did what I have seen being do to many people evidence of relationship proofs not even looked at. I know we will get through this Thanks to our wonderful Families and the strength of our love for each other and Excitement of our First Child. But, this whole thing is really ridicules Yes WE"RE MARRIED FOR GOD SAKE WE"RE having a baby what more proof do they need!!!!!!!!!!!

Any suggestions most appericated..... Its getting down to the wire for me in regards to hope that my wife can be here to deliver the baby... As I am sure there are going to be many Hoops to get the baby registered for birth abroad and then I don;t even know if you have to get a Indian visa for the baby just because the baby's an American citizen born in India.

Hi Aman, I personaly am going thorugh the same thing. A couple of things I did, was:

    1. Try getting the case expedited by getting in touch with NVC: email them. Let them know how far along the pregnancy is and the obstacles to travelling late in the pregnancy.

    2. If you have an agent, have them do the same.

I did this, am NVC requested a letter from my wife's doctor. As soon as I got it to NVC, guess what....they had already sent my case to the embassy and we got a quick interview which is scheduled for the 20th of this month.

Can't say wether it'll be the same for a case from India but it's worth a shot.

    Good Luck!!!
