  1. Everyone:

It will not immediately change to PAID. If you read your receipt, at the bottom it says that it'll take 2-3 days for the payment to go through and to check back at that time as it should show as PAID. Once it does, you can print the Document Cover Sheet to send the DS-230.

Also, do not go through the payment process twice because the status doesn't change. You will be paying the money over and over.

  2. I was bummed because I knew the online payment option was finally up and I had just overnighted my payment yesterday.

So I called the post office and I asked if it had already been sent and the rep told me NO!! Because it's tax day and it's so busy, it hadn't gone out. I told her if I could cancel it and she said I just had to fill out a form to get it back. I did it during my lunch break, came back to work and paid it online.

    WOOHOO!!!

  3. I had trouble finding the page yesterday. When I went back to the website, the link for Online Payment wasn't there anymore. So I looked through my history and I found it.

I've already sent my payment via USPS (I kept trying all morning and it didn't work). I wasn't sure how long it was going to take so I mailed. But for those of you who want to keep trying here it is:

    https://ceac.state.gov/CTRAC/Invoice/signon.aspx

Good luck and I hope everyone can pay it that way now!!

As for me and anyone else who is going to mail it, I'm thinking that once my payment is received, I'll be able to log in and see the invoice PAID and print out the coversheet and not have to wait until the automated message is changed. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for that!!

  4. I've been trying all morning too. I have the invoice identification number and it lets me get through the entire thing except at the end it won't go through because the system is not available yet.

I called NVC and the rep said it is not available yet but to check back everyday. They have been told to give out the number but not a date as to when it will be ready.

    :bonk: :bonk: :bonk:

  5. Just as an FYI...

I mailed my Choice of Agent form on Monday, it was received at NVC on Tuesday and was in the system on Friday. But they didn't update the automated system until the next Monday (I called on Friday and got this info from the operator).

Just an option for those who still want to mail the form in.

Although it may not always be the case, it seems like e-mailing takes a bit longer.

  6. I used them and they have worked great for me (my timeframe is below). I would highly recommend them from personal experience.

Of course, you have to take into account how comfortable you are at generating the barcodes, letters and forms yourself. If you are computer literate, you should be ok. But if you're not, or feel like you're not doing it right, you can ask in this forum and we will try to help you through it.

But make the decision based on how comfortable you feel following the shortcuts after you read them completely.

I don't think it's going to take 9 months. I think very few extreme cases take that long. If you look at the timelines here, it is taking an average of 5-6 months and that was due to the influx of applications last year.

If you look on the website, they are currently at 6 months but a lot of people get approved before that. Don't be discouraged, you may be one of the ones that gets approved in less time.

I'm a member of another forum also and there is a girl who got approved in 4 months!! So it possible.

  9. You do have to fill out your information for the letter even if it doesn't stated.

You can pay the $70.00 I-864 fee but you cannot pay the Visa Bill yet because, per the shortcut, NVC generates a random number so you can't send it until you have the actual bill. I read a thread of an attempt to generate it but it didn't work out and it ended up delaying the very courageous member about a month.

I haven't seen a thread that tells you to send both the $70 and $400 in at the same time...

By the way, I think if you send the IV bill early, it actually delays your case.
