This is very disappointing, especially since we recently celebrated my wife's naturalization and the fact that after 10 years here she would now be treated the same as everyone else. By monitoring the search histories and social media accounts of naturalized citizens, aren't they basically saying that naturalized citizens won't be treated as real citizens even though they are?

My wife did her Oath Ceremony yesterday here in St. Louis, MO. It was a huge event, larger than normal for St. Louis, and it lasted 6 hours! But it was a memorable experience. Let me know if anyone has any questions about it or our process. I won't bother updating the timeline in this thread since the formatting seems to be ruined.

My wife had her interview on 7/24. She says it was difficult, that the officer asked her more questions about the application that she was ready for, that there were some tense moments when the officer got upset because my wife asked her to repeat things a few times, but in the end she was approved! She didn't ask for any additional evidence (no certificates, marriage evidence, taxes, photos, nothing), but just looked at her passport, green card, and ID. Now we wait for notification of an oath ceremony date.

We received In Line notification March 16, 2017. Our field office (St. Louis, MO) says:

Field Office Processing Dates for Saint Louis MO as of: February 28, 2017

N-400    Application for Naturalization    May 16, 2016

Does that mean on Feb 28, 2017, they were processing applications from May 16, 2016? If so, how does that bode for us? Is it normal that we haven't received an interview date in 2 months?

I guess I don't understand your theory. My GC date is 4/20/09. On 03/16/17 I was notified that I am in line for an interview. But according to your theory I should have gotten an interview date by now since I'm nearing my GC anniversary?

According to the table, people are getting interview dates as soon as this month? Is that true?? If so, my wife has some studying to do! We thought the interviews would be scheduled months away.

Got In Line notification via email last night. I will note for others that the email notification includes more information than is found in the Case Status on the website. Just some extra details about what to expect during this step. So it's definitely a good idea to sign up for those emails if you haven't.

I don't know. I'm just going by the legend in the table, which says to use the Notice Date. Everyone's probably using a different date anyway, so take the table with a grain of salt.

Reminder that the NOA date to put in the progress table is the Notice Date Printed on your official I-797 notification, not the date you received it. I received mine 2/21, but the notice date is 02/15.

I did USPS priority mail to the PO box. It includes a tracking number which you can use to confirm when it is received. In my opinion, no need to pay for the extra signature confirmation.

Sent N-400 to Phoenix for my wife on February 8, 2017. Good luck to all.

I am leaning toward just filling out the N-400 using the new address, and giving all past addresses and dates. Does that sound right? Will they use the address on the N-400 form for future communication? Will they update our address in their system based on that?

My wife wants to begin the N-400 process to become a citizen soon. But we just realized that when we bought a house in 2013, we might not have updated our address with USCIS. Is this going to be a problem? Should we just use the new address on the N-400 forms? I worry trying to submit a separate address change form now might confuse things as we will be doing the N-400 soon. We had previously updated our address during several moves, but with so many things on your mind when buying a house, I think it slipped our minds this last time. Will she be ok?

Congratulations. How/Where did she make the payments?

Just wanted to followup here. She made the payment at the central bank before the interview. She said she was lucky because the bank was on the way to the embassy and she was able to get to the interview on time.

On a side note, the interview was oddly easy. They just asked her the basic questions of where she's going and how long she wants to stay. The interviewer was in a good mood that day.

The embassy official most likely will not react kindly. I'm of the impression that as long as it's not their fault or a number of persons dealing with the embassy isn't having similar problems then they don't care. Don't know how your embassy conducts itself but she may not even be allowed to go very far without a receipt of sorts showing that she paid what was necessary.

Question is why did she (you & your wife too) wait until 4 days before her scheduled interview 'ifing' and 'buting' about paying her fees? That's beyond risky esp being that 2 out of the 4 days is a weekend.

Good question. The bank dragged her along for 2 weeks (she got an interview date of only 2 weeks after having applied), saying "we still haven't received your visa application receipt from the embassy in order to pay, come back next week". Then, the day I posted here, the bank changes the story and says that they no longer process visa payments and that only one bank in the country does. So it was really all last minute for fault of miscommunications between the bank and embassy.

I'm happy to report that by a great miracle or stroke of luck, she was able to pay it just before going in for the interview. And she was approved for the visa.

Lesson: a quick interview date isn't always best.
