  1. I'm so sorry to hear you are homesick, I know exactly how you feel.

My homesickness has lasted over 2 years. I'm moving back home in 30 days, we planned for this about a year ago when we both realized I couldn't live in England away from my family. Have you discussed with your partner how you feel? Are you planning to move back home eventually? Some things I wish I would have done that I think would have made my time easier here....

    1. Getting out on my own and making new friends.

    2. Letting go of the past and starting to live in the present.

    3. Getting a job, even if it's only part-time.

    4. Join a gym and exercise daily!

    5. Visit museums, libraries, parks and even go see a movie by yourself!

Happiness is a state of mind, focus on what you can do to make yourself happy. Remind yourself daily of the wonderful things you have in your life. Speak with your partner about how unhappy you are and find a solution together. Even if its a plan well into the future, it will give you something to look forward to.

I hope you feel better soon, I know it's rough but try to get yourself out there and make a new life for yourself. :)

  2. I've been living in the UK for two years and was ready to move back home after 6 months! Neither of us care for the weather here, the cost of living is ridiculous and over all we feel it can be quite depressing. We are much closer to my family & friends and miss the sunny friendly vibe in San Francisco. I miss California in general! Also, both of us have far more potential to earn more money in the US than here in the UK.

  3. We just booked my ticket for June on BA from Heathrow to San Francisco for £326! Great price considering Virgin wanted £540! And yes, BA allows 70lbs per bag until later this summer when it goes down to 50lbs.

  4. Hi everybody! I haven't been here for a couple weeks, just wanted to pop in and say hello. :star:

I booked mine and doggies airline tickets this week, we both fly out on June 17th. The movers are coming to pick up all of our boxes on June 2, so I've been frantically packing! I can't believe how much stuff we have, even though I got rid of so much stuff prior to moving here 2 years ago! Still need to sell our sofa, bed and some misc furniture. I can't sleep at night! My mind just won't stop...then I wake up exhausted! I'm sure some of you can relate! :)

Anywho, hope you are all well and getting some sunshine wherever you are! We've had great weather here in Bristol until today...the rain and cooler temps are back. And my friend from back home just called to tell me they are having a heat wave in San Francisco!!!!!! :crying:

  5. Mornin!

The sun is shining!! The sun is shining!!! :dancing:

It was so lovely to wake up and practice yoga while the sun was pouring in through the window! The sky is clear and all the windows are open! It's a miracle! I can't believe how much the sun improves my mood.

Hope everyone has a lovely day!

  6. LOL! I was talking about Micki's cat!

Yup, I'm having to buy a r/t ticket on Virgin. I want to fly with my furry mutt so trying to find a cheaper ticket on another airline just isn't an option. This is the last time I'm moving out of the country until we retire in Spain! :P

  7. I brought my dog over from San Francisco in 2006 and she is now returning home with me this summer. We are flying home on Virgin and there is no heat embargo for any of Virgin's destinations (I just confirmed this on Friday). It was much more time consuming to fly her into the UK. Flying back to the US is much easier, but just as expensive! (£975 one way to fly back to SF!)

You will have a much easier time with a cat, and way less money!

  8. Hi everyone! Enjoying some sunshine in Bristol today. If only it would stick around! B)

Trying to get more organized about selling off our stuff and packing the rest for shipping. No more international moves for a while.....way to stressful! The next one won't be for another 20 years when we retire to Spain!

Hope you are all enjoying your Wednesday!

  9. You know what really bugs me most, is there seems to be no consistency with the embassy. Some get RFE's for affidavits, some don't. We have been married for over two years, I have lived in the UK over two years. I sent a copy of both my visa's (my first FLR and my second FLR) showing dates I have entered the UK. You would think between that and copies of bank statements, council tax bills and our rental agreement that is all the evidence they need! They returned all the bills/statements btw! If I get an RFE for affidavits I will scream!
