Not sure if you are still tracking but my case has completed at NVC. Interview date is Feb 2nd 2009.

I called NVC yesterday and they said my wife has an interview on Feb 2nd. They completed the case at NVC 1/12.

Hi all, I am a Singapore permanent resident and I am original from PRC. I have lived and worked in Singapore for over 5 years and met my husband in Singapore . We registered our marriage in Singapore in 2008. Now I am applying CR1 visa and have been informed that my interview will be in Guangzhou, PRC. It is really inconvenient for me. Is there anybody here knows if I can change my interview to US embassy in Singapore? Thanks a lot!

I am trying to get an idea on when interviews are scheduled for people who's case was completed at NVC by end of Dec. This means all your fees are paid and NVC has received all your documents and they have now passed it on to embassy.

Please list when the case is complete and the US embassy.

Example: 12/27 Case Complete. US Embassy Vietnam.

I have noticed many people stating that their interview date won't happen till 2 months like Feb or so. How do you know it'll take that long.

I am sending in the DS-230 today and this is the last thing I need to send in. I expect them to input this into the system by 1/10 as well as the i-864 (AOS) by 1/12. My wife is in Singapore. Assuming I get no RFE, any chance she can get an interview early Feb?

I just paid for the IV processing fee today online and will most likely send in the DS-230 on Monday once the payment shows paid and I can print out the cover page.

I think thats that last I have to do before they require my wife in Singapore to take the medical exam and ask her for interview correct?

I'm not sure what document you are referring to. I assume that you mean some way of getting through NVC quicker, but I didn't use anything special. Just downloaded the forms and filled them out and paid online. I do know there are some shortcuts like emailing the choice of agent form but we didn't use those. The paying online really speeds things up though.

when I call NVC I only have the case # (the NVC case #) and I can't pay online yet. They keep saying it takes 4-6 weeks for me to get the bill. How do I pay online if I can't get that details

Man I'm in the same situation. From senators office I was told that they have started background check, and was told not to inquire for 3 months. But every time my wife would try to call USCIS they would not let her talk to the officer. So what is the trick to make that happen. And when you did talk to the officer, you just explained the situation and they sent the letter to CSC?

I've heard that these background checks take forever in some cases. In my case i lived in states for 8 years and dont have any criminal records. So really hope it won't take too long. So I would also try to do anything to speed it up at least a little but and not to get stuck in there forever some people do.

Well Senator's office hasn't even gotten back to me yet nor did the other congressman get any results for me. I initially called to say look my case has been transferred and I understand the rule is after 90 days we should have gotten feedback. Keep in mind im speaking to a representative who's a contractor who probably has no idea what she's talking about. When she checked my record and it sounded like it got approved I told her well how come I haven't received any approval notice or my status hasn't changed. Since she didn't have an answer she transferred me to an officer. Well agent wsan't able to help much since the system went down. Second time I called explained what happened and told her that I was told to call back and ask to speak to an agent regarding my case. She looked into it, and probably realized she couldn't get any other details and decided to pass me to the officer.

Suggestion just tell them its been transferred and you understand the rule is in 90 days there should be some action. Now if your case shows that its in back ground check ... maybe they won't transfer it. Try saying i was told to call again and speak to an agent next time i call. see if that works

So since my last posting, I have followed up with USCIS 2 times and just Tuesday with my Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison since my local congressman told me last week they no longer are following up on any cases until start of new year.

The second time I called the USCIS I spoke to a rep first then I asked for an officer. They looked at my case saying it wasn't approved but required some background check but they will send CSC an email/letter asking what's the hold up. Yesterday I got the email saying my case was approved. I seriously doubt the email/letter made any progress...we don't know.

Bottom line...if you got transferred to CSC from VSC and after 90 days u don't hear anything .....stay on top of USCIS and tell them you need to speak to a OFFICER. They can help you understand what exactly is going on. They will say if you don't hear back in 30 days call them back.

onward to NVC. hope this goes faster.

I just got the email yesterday stating my NOA2 or my case is approved. Offical date 11/18/08.

Now time for NVC.

Since being transferred from VSC, I called the USCIS today with the premise that our case is now outside the "6 month" CSC processing date. The prerecorded message stated to please wait at least 180 days from your transfer date before inquiring about your case. Not very encouraging.

If anyone gets a different response from an actual person at USCIS, let us know.

So I called yesterday and the first line of operator tells me its 120 days. Then she transfers me to the immigration officer and he says are you a citizen and I say yes. He then looks at my receipt number and says oh wow. He says I will write them (CSC) a letter asking why and when. Why it hasn't been processed and when will it be processed. Unfortunately system had issues and he couldn't do anything for me. he tells me to call today and I call today and now the operators are not available. I am doing all this while i am in singapore it self and have no idea what time zone the bastards are working.

More frustration...

when I spoke to the stupid confused first line of operator she tells me it was approved but the state sent it back asking for information. I am like why didn't i get an approval and why doesn't the system show that. She doesn't know why so she asks her manager and they transfer me to immigration officer who says it wasn't approved. I told immigration officer how come the other phone operator told me it was approved...he's like the system doesn't say that. Anyhow morons have no consistentcy nor knowledge of anything going on there. The process is a black box and as a US citizen we are getting the run around.

suggestion call them up again (800-375-5283 then 1 for english then *1 to speak to operator) and tell them your case got transferred on what date and you are outside the processing window. Then say WHATS THE F****** HOLD UP

I was stuck in the same boat as you guys. I was a Feb 2008 VSC filer who was transferred to CSC 8/27/08...from then on there were no touches on my case while I saw all the other transfers being approved in Sept 2008.

So as soon as the CSC processing dates rolled over to 6 months, I contacted my congressman. They sent an inquiry on 10/27 and we were APPROVED on 10/31...yes today was my lucky day!!

Getting someone to make an inquiry was the only thing that rattled the cages on my case...hopefully you guys can get some results that way too.

What do you mean CSC processing dates rolled over to 6 months? Is it taking longer than 6 months now? I did contact my Congressman but it was still as VSC and soon after it got transferred. So I guess I should contact them again letting them know it was transferred. What is the rule of thumb to have it processed after its transferred? Is it 30 days or 60 days?

I applied in end of dec. It went to VSC and transferred to CSC in August. I complained to congressman and got standard message back from USCIS saying they're still processing July applications. Congressman says check back in 6 months. I am still waiting. Standard process is to wait for these SOBs to get their act together.

You will notice that i-130 is at July 2007 and i-129F (k3) is at Dec 07. After I got my first approval I had seen messages here that there really is no difference in processing time for these applications. With VSC being so slow, would this be a a good time to just go ahead and file i129F?

Did anyone wait for a while and then file the i129F?

I know the i-130 date hasn't moved from July for a long time; I don't know how much the -129F (K3) has moved in last 2-3 months.

Add my name to the list of Dec filers. They say it takes 6 months but its like a script they must read when they tell us that. All we can hope for is that they can pick up the pace and start approving stuff.

I think someone needs to do a reality show of what people do in government jobs. Do they really work?

What happened all of a sudden we "December filers" haven't gotten much NOA2s. I keep expecting an approval based on the rest the guys who submitted it same time we did. I guess some people get luck and some will just have to wait? Any idea whats the longest wait 6 months? When should I start worrying.

XiaoBai - Yes thats what we thought as well as what USCIS told us. She has a Singapore passport and she can come to the States without a VISA, but for business or tourism. So when we came to the port, the guy was suprised she was trying to come to US for her final destination. Big mistake on my end as well as listening to USCIS. This forum/website gives me more information then the folks there.

Just want to confirm with others, I am doing the right thing.

My who's in Singapore, tried to come to US after our marriage. We were told prior to her coming that she could come to US and file a adjustment of status (of course we only find out later USCIS reps are useless and have no real idea how the process works). So, the security agent doesn't let my wife into the states since she doesn't have a VISA or a return ticket to Singapore. Now for question 32, it asks:

32: Have you ever been refused admission to the United States at a port-of-entry?

Answer: I said YES (anyone disagree please let me know)

Here's my explanation:

Prior to coming to US, we called USCIS and the representative stated that my wife could come to US and file an ajustment of status. After we got married, I came to US and security agent told me I was misinformed and sent back to Singapore.

Two Questions for forum:

1. Anyone think my wife should say no? If so why?

2. Anyone experience a similar situation and will this delay our application at NVC or consulate?
