  1. No we have not moved.

I received my EAD in August but since then, there has been nothing

Did you move? Mail from USCIS will not be forwarded.

Have you called USCIS? I would make an InfoPass Appointment.

I'm assuming you came on a K1 and applied for AOS. Just double checking since this post is in the "Foreign Embassy & Consulate General Discussion" Forum.

  2. Can anyone give me any reassurance regarding my AOS and receipt of greencard. we were married in May, filed in early June and were transferred to California Service Center in late July. I haven't heard anything since then and it seems that everyone around me that filed before me has received theirs already.

Any advice, suggestions, or words of encouragement????

  3. Be careful to get it too soon. I got mine as soon as I sent my packet in and then had to redo it as it expired every 6 months and my packet 3 only arrived 6 months after I sent in all the forms. Prepare yourself for the most arduous wait of your life. But be assured, we've all gone through it and lived to talk about it

    Police Records

Available. Criminal records since 1901 covering the entire Republic are maintained at the South African Police Headquarters, Pretoria. The period The Commissioner of the South African Police issues certificates upon application, stating whether or not a criminal record exists, and, if so, particulars of the offense as well as any sentence passed.

The police authorities require an applicant to present verification of identity, such as a Book of Life, or valid passport, and a payment of R41.00 (South African rand forty one payable in cash, cheque or postal order, made payable to the South African police).

To obtain a certificate that is issued in single copy only, fingerprints must be taken by the local police in the applicant’s place of residence. The South African police forwards the completed fingerprint chart and the fee to the head office in Pretoria for issuance of the police clearance certificate. If the applicant is residing in the United States, he or she should forward a bank draft in the aount of R41.00 together with a completed fingerprint chart (bearing an official signature and stamp of the local police station) to:

    Criminal Record Centre

Only one report needed from Pretoria, it is a national record. When the consulate says "From every place lived since age 16" they mean every "Country"

I would get it just after the NOA2 letter is sent to petitioner in the US.

  4. CONGRATS!!!!! Thats amazing.

How did you get your notification?

I called them Thursday and they couldn't tell me anything

I tried that sight but my case number doesn't seem to work. Is yours something like jhn2008657444?Or is there a hyphen somewhere?

    So stressed out man!!!!!

Could you do the medical stuff all in one day?

    You must be so excited!!!

  5. I'm in the same boat as you Terry!!!!

Also been calling the Consulate and same answer.

The most concerning to me is that in May, my I-797 expires (they only give you 4 months to have the interview after approved at NVC)

Not sure what approach to take here. Surely we can't be penalised for their administrative overload.

    I'll keep intouch.

  6. Hey girl

Friends of mine went through the process October last year and apparently you get the visa 3-5 days after the interview. That's why they tell you take R60.00 with you for the DHL delivery.

[/size]ANYONE FROM SOUTH AFRICA JUST GET THEIR K1VISA>>>JUST WANTED TO KNOW IF YOU GET THE ACTUAL VISA THE SAME DAY OR WHAT THE PROCESS IS?????
  7. Hi all

I was hoping there were some more South Africans out there also applying for the K1 visa as this questions pertains directly to you

How long after the NVC sends my stuff to the Consulate in Johannesburg, do I actually get told who the doctors are that I have to see for the medical. I heard there are only a handful on the lsit and none are in my home town, Port Elizabeth.

I'm heading to Cape Town in 2 weeks and even if I haven't heard from the embassy, I'd like to get the medical done.

Do you think this would be possible?

  8. Hello All! Being that my fiancee is from South Africa, I was wonderin if anyone knew of any websites where I can order products of South Africa like chutney and pap and things of that nature.

While I was living in the States, my fiance and I would frequent "Liquor Barn". They carry many South African goodies eg. wines, cooldrinks, and my favorite .....BOVRIL, Provitas, and Safari dried fruit

    Goodluck!!!
