  1. Hi,

I recently went for my AOS interview in San Jose. It was all fairly straightforward until the interviewer asked about my vaccinations and told me I would need more but not what these were. I informed him I was fairly sure that I've had all the vaccinations I needed so he said he'd look into it and contact me by mail.

I had my original medical in Knightsbridge, London on the 11th of April 2008. They told me which vaccinations I needed and these I got at my local GP with the vac. and doctor's details all signed on a sheet. I flew in to JFK last summer, my flight changed at Dublin airport and there they took my brown envelope as they have US customs in the Dublin airport! I am doubtful if the envelope ever made it to the states at all.

With my AOS application I submitted copies of my DS-3025 from my London medical and my additional vaccinations sheet from my GP.

Yesterday I received a notice in the mail stating:

"A decision cannot be made until you submit the document(s) or information requested below. PLEASE MAIL the document(s) information to the above address within 30 days. Pursuant to 8 CFR 103.2(b)(8), you have 4 weeks from the date of this notice to comply, failure to do so may result in the denial of your application."

Under a title saying submit the following documents these two lines were checked:

"X Form I-693 Medical Examination AND Supplemental form to I-693 (all required Immunizations/Vaccinations)"

"X Other - An updated vaccination is required. Send it within a sealed envelope."

    Now my questions are:

    WHAT vaccination do I need?

I don't have much spare cash at present so would Dr Arnold (I've seen him mentioned on this site a lot) be best for transferring my DS-3025 onto a I-693?

Who do I address return letter to? The officer who 'helped' me or for the Field Office Director who is listed at the bottom of my very uninformative letter?

Any help would be hugely appreciated.

    Marlon

  2. My fiance's passport & visa arrived today!!! He'll soon be flying into JFK then onto California to be with me

I just have a few questions about the things that are coming up next...

    First the simple questions:

    1. Will it cost anything for him to receive a temporary work visa through JFK?

    2. How and when do we apply for a California marriage license?

    Now the confusing questions:

    3. In the I-129F I put my fiance's intended address in the US as my parent's address in Arizona since I've been living here to save up money before he arrives. I will be moving back to California a month before my fiance arrives but I still do not know what our address with be. Will this affect his adjustment of status? Will we have to come back to the USCIS district office here or is there some way to notify them once I know what our address in California will be so we can work with an office closer to home?

    4. My fiance gave the woman who interviewed him two I-134s. The first one is from me with my bank statements and letters from my employers. The second is from my step-father, the co-sponsor who owns his home and has a steady income. I am wondering if there will be any problems once my fiance adjusts his status because I will no longer be working at my current jobs and will have a little less money in my savings since I'll be moving. We had my step-father be the co-sponsor because of this, but I am just concerned about us running into problems since my situation will be changing so dramatically.

Thank you to all of the members of Visa Journey who have answered my questions in the past. It has really helped to make this visa process go smoothly.

  3. Hello all,

The exciting day is almost here. My fiance's interview is on May 30th! :) I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions or could tell me about their interview experiences. What kinds of questions will they ask? How did you organize all of your paperwork? Should he wear a suit or would dress pants, a shirt and tie be ok? Any comments would be helpful.

Things to do to get ready for the interview.

    1. Make sure all paperwork is organized.

    2. Triple check all your paperwork to make sure there are no errors.

    3. Be sure to be clean, clean cut, just as if you were going to an important job interview.

    4. Wear a suit.

    5. Go over interview questions given on this website.

    6. Practice questions with each other.

    7. Make sure you both have the same story

You do all these things, you should be good to go. Good luck! My interview date is a day before yours.

Thank you for the to do list. It's very helpful.

Good luck on your interview too!

  4. Thank you everyone for the best wishes and advice.

I have a couple more questions that I feel kind of silly for even asking...

    1. I filled out the I-134 and so did my step father because I was not certain that my income would suffice. When my fiance presents these documents should he say that I am the sponsor and my step father is the co-sponsor or just present my step father's I-134 and supporting documents (because he certainly earns enough money) then show mine if needed?

    2. The I-134 was the right form to fill out wasn't it??? I have just looked on the US Embassy in London site and they say that my fiance needs to have "Evidence of Support - Any evidence which will show that you and members of your family who will accompany you are not likely to become public charges while in the United States. Note that the petitioner, in family based immigrant visa applications, and employment based immigrant visa applications where a family member has a significant ownership interest, is required to file a contractually binding Affidavit of Support, Form I-864. This requirement does not apply to fiancé(e), Kii or V visa applicants when applying for a fiancé(e), Kii or V visa. However, the petitioner will be required to file an I-864 when the fiancee, Kii, or V visa holder applies for an adjustment of status with the Department of Homeland Security, United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) in the United States after the marriage ceremony has taken place. Further information for fiancé(e), Kii and V visa applicants. Note: For immigrant visa applicant whose case has been processed through the National Visa Center (NVC) the Affidavit of Support, Form I-864, will be sent to the Embassy by the NVC. You are not required to bring a copy of this documemt to the visa interview."

...That makes me think I filled out the wrong form, that I was supposed to fill out the I-864? Or is that a form I need to fill out for his adjustment of status once we're married?

    3. Does my fiance need my passport or birth certificate? He has copies of both but from what I read on another post it sounded like he needs my actual birth certificate.

    4. For proof of our relationship, should my fiance make photocopies of the letters I've sent him or just bring in the actual letters? He wouldn't want them to keep the letters I've sent him but he believes that they don't keep the proof of ongoing relationship so photocopies aren't necessary.

I'm just nervous about it because I can't be there to help him organize all of the paperwork and figure all of this stuff out. I've tried to help over the phone but I think I'm just confusing him. From what I've read the interview really isn't that long or intense as long as you're organized and have a truthful relationship, but it just means so much to me that we're able to be together so I want everything to go smoothly.

  6. I thought I understood what was needed for the I-134 but now I'm totally confused!

So, "There is no co or joint sponsors with a K visa, period, regardless of the consulate" but "The petitioner does not have to be the sponsor?"

I thought that "Not having adequate income will not usually be a problem if you have a co-sponsor, according to experiences posted on the newsgroup, as long as the co-sponsor has adequate income/assets" & "The US fiance is ALWAYS the primary sponsor, but may have a co-sponsor. If there is a co-sponsor, both the US fiance and the co-sponsor will EACH have to fill out the affidavit I-134 or I-864 and EACH will have to provide supporting documentation."

My co-sponsor and I have been gathering supporting documents in preparation for our I-134s so I'd like to know if it would be wrong for both of us to send in I-134s.

  7. You can fill out one I-134 for both jobs. Put the combined income amount. For employer info (name, industry), I'd say you can put "see attached sheet" where you have the detail about your two jobs. Back that up with all supporting documentation for both jobs, including an employer letter for each.

I've seen people do a few variations of this, like putting only the primary employer's name on the I-134 but then providing pay stubs, etc from both, or putting the primary employer's name with an asterisk... I think as long as the information is clear, you'll be ok.

FWIW, the requirement is 125% poverty level, which is $17,000 and change for a household of two (the intending immigrant is counted for household size)

    Good luck!

Thank you for the reply! This forum is awesome. It is really nice to be able to get other people's opinions and advice! Are you or your fiance from Trinidad or Tobago? I've been to Tobago. It is so beautiful there. The rain forest, beaches and sunsets are incredible.

  8. I am not sure how I am supposed to fill out section 7 on the I-134 form when I have two part-time jobs? Should I attach a separate piece of paper and say - Please see attachment: "Question 7 - Employment information"? Do I need to have both of my Employers write letters regarding my employment?

I have been at both of my jobs for less than 6 months and I don't have a tax return from last year because I was a full-time student and earned way less than $15,000. I earn a decent amount of money now but I am planning on having a co-sponsor because I haven't been at these jobs for very long and I plan on moving back to my home state with my fiance shortly after we get married.

I am worried because neither I or my co-sponsor have a lot of money in our savings accounts at the moment. My co-sponsor owns their house and has a good income, but will this be considered sufficient?

  9. I have experienced the SAME frustration! For me, the years also don't in the slot, so it will say 200+ intstead of 2008. I found a computer that has the latest version of adobe and so everything fits fine, but when I send it to my fiance for him to print out- he prints it and the + sign shows up!! So annoying, so I'll just be writing (really small) the years and my home city.

That is what I did, I hand wrote it in - very neat and very small.

  10. I received an e-mail today from the USCIS saying: Approval notice sent! I'm really excited about that but confused about what happens next.

A family member is going to be my co-sponsor for the Affidavit of Support because I do not make enough money and haven't been at my current job for very long... but how exactly does this work? Do we both need to fill out I-134 forms?

What does my fiance need to do next? How long might it be until the interview?

  11. I asked in another forum and they said touches don't really mean anything but I'm still frustrated about it. I don't understand why mine hasn't been touched since 11/9/2007! It would be encouraging if it was

Oh well, today I booked a ticket to visit my fiance so that is very exciting!

Congrats to all the people who did get touches.

  12. I was also wondering if I will have trouble getting into the the UK to visit my fiancé. I am planning a trip in April and am wondering what I should tell the Customs official. The last time I visited I said I was visiting a friend and I didn't have any problems even though I only had a one-way ticket. I also said that I planned on staying for 1 month and ended up staying for 4 months. Do they keep a record of what you said when you visited before? When they look at my passport stamps are they going to question me about why I stayed for so long before? This time I will be buying a round-trip ticket and I will only be there for 2 weeks but I am not sure if I should say that I am visiting a friend or visiting my fiancé. I don't think I could get a letter from my employer but would pay stubs, a printout of my bank statements and college courses be adequate proof of my intent to return to the US. Should I bring a copy of my K-1 application and NOA1?

  13. My fiancé and I received a notice that our I-129F petition had been received on October 27, 2007. I would like to know how long it will take for our petition to be processed. I know that there is a list of processing times on the USCIS website but I am not sure if I am reading them correctly. If I am, then it will take approximately 6 months for our petition to be processed? Any help would be appreciated.
