If you don't receive the card after 3-4 weeks go to your nearest office and ask them if one's been issued. Don't be surprised if it hasn't been. You can apply for your card at the office and they'll give you a temporary card before you leave. The actual card will arrive about 4 weeks later.

SSA is supposed to mail her SS card within three weeks after her arrival, but it sometimes takes longer or it never arrives.
If she would like to start working as soon as she can, I recommend her to request a SSN in person at a local SSA office.
She will need the number/card at the time of employment.

We were able to do a DCF so our timeline might be shorter than yours.

My wife's interview (CR-1) was about 9 weeks after we completed the paperwork. If I recall correctly she was notified only about 3 weeks before the interview date though!
-
My wife had about two months to prepare for the interview. Business casual attire was fine.

They do not keep the foreign passport, because US government allows "Dual Citizenship", you may have a problem re-entering the country without a green-card though. You may want to apply for a US-Passport to travel out of the country and then re-enter.Will the USCIS people keep my wife's (foreign) passport after her Naturalization interview or will it be returned? We want to visit her family soon so we'll need her passport.
You mean AOS? They didn't keep Andre's. Didn't need it for any reason.
Not AOS Naturalization to become a US Citizen.
The interview is to obtain citizenship.
The USCIS interviewer keeps the Green Card? How would she prove that she's a legal resident without it?
After naturalization, she's not a legal resident (at least, not in the immigration law definition of "legal resident"), she's a citizen. Citizens aren't required to have or to carry proof of their legal status. They'll give her a cerficate of naturalization, and she'll have the opportunity to apply for a US passport. She can use either of these as proof of citizenship if needed to apply for a job. For travel, she'll need the US passport.
BTW, once she's a US Citizen, she is required to present a US passport anytime she deals with US officials at border crossings. She can still keep a foreign passport as long as it's legally issued by a foreign government, and she may use it when dealing with non-US officials, but she must use her US passport when dealing with US officials.
I know. I'm concerned about the time between the interview, the oath ceremony and the arrival of a U.S. passport. That can be several months at least. If the Green Card is turned in during the interview is it impossible to leave the country until you receive a new U.S. passport?

I didn't send it either. No problem.

We sent our stuff to the Nebraska service center on May 1st. and the new 10 year Green Card arrived about Dec 7th.
-
We sent them the usual papers that are required to show them that we're in a legitimate and ongoing marriage (bank statements, credit card statements, insurance and brokerage statements, more photos...) but we didn't send them duplicates of the papers that we gave them in order to get the visa (marriage certificate, birth certificate for our baby, photos...) because we thought that they'd already have them.
-
When the Feds are reviewing the I-751 and the papers that I included with it do they also have with them all of the papers that we initially provided when we applied for the CR-1 visa?
-
Don't feel so bad. I forgot to send the check! The Nebraska Service Center sent everything back to me and I had to resend the whole package along with a check. My snafu cost us about 2 weeks.
-
Got it in 9 days! Excellent.

Does it still take 2 or 3 weeks to get the letter extending a person's I-551? I'll be mailing my wife's stuff tomorrow and we'd like to go back to her home in mid-June. Will we be safe?
What does "current" mean?

At the end of last fiscal year the number of available DVs was listed as "current" for some regions. What does that mean? Thanks.
