  1. hi everyone just to let everyone know i already done my interview today and it was a painless interview not even asking any evidences like picture etc..... and also about the medical report i didnt even report my vaccination i just said that my medical is valid for one year because i read the guidelines of I-485 so no question about it......

Glad to hear all went well. Ours was the same…few questions, didn’t request any proof…so I offered some and he added it to our file…Said all things are in order...

Received the email confirming card production same day…

Happy to see lots of approvals and everything moving forward for everyone.

Interesting Info: The officer indicated that with new law changes, he expects immigration times to get longer in the near future. Scary…he said right now things are moving quickly. Don’t know how much truth in it, but glad we’re done…

    Wish every one the best.

  3. I'm still confused as to why CR-1 takes longer at the NVC than K3.

    Apologises if I'm being stupid

I went the K-3 route, because we were married and processing during the 07 tidal wave of applications.

Not an expert...so someone can correct me if I’m wrong….

My understanding CR-1 is best route, to avoid AOS later…etc…. (We are currently going through AOS).

    Reason for delays:

When NVC receives I-129f (For K-3/1) approval, they assign number and send to Embassy.

When NVC receives I-130 (CR-1 route) approval, they then process similar to AOS. If not already received, then I-134 / I-864 will be needed and requested of petitioner. FBI checks, etc…

Takes a little longer for CR-1, but has it's advantages....and you may not have the option if I-130 was already approved and forwarded to NVC.

    Hope it helps...

  4. what a lucky day for everybody!! :energy: thank GOD.

i am so happy that everyone got the letter for biometric, now to the next step!

when can we make the walk in?

anybody here is living in CT ?

Herolmounia, Sorry didn't post earlier. Don't get online all the time....

Received our NOA for BIO appointment Friday.... Appointment is on the 16th

Everything is going smoothly and hopefully will finished up this year.

:ot: We waited on AOS, so that we would hit our 2 year anniversary before completion... so we're hoping for the 10 year greencard.

2nd year Wedding Anniversary this month... Wow! seems like yesterday...but very excited. :ot2:

  5. Oh one more thing, I see on some people's posts, that cases are being transferred to CSC? What does it mean, and how do they select whose cases are transferred there?

    Thanks a lot!

    Take care!

We sent package to Chicago lockbox....then they transfer it to your assigned service center.

CSC is the California Service Center...TSC is Texas...etc....and this is the standard process to my understanding.

They are suppose to review each in order of arrival, but that is often left up to each officer working that day and which one they grab. I've heard, sometimes they'll skip over a more difficult one to push out easy ones first...and keep their quotas up for the week.

    But don't know for sure.

  6. We are an August filer too..USCIS got it last August 19..its been 6 days now..check not cashed yet..and still no NOA1...getting anxious here....

Try not to be too anxious....sometimes the processes will take alittle time.

We received NOA1 and are waiting also...but things are moving much faster than they were a couple years ago.

    Keeping fingers crossed....

Best of luck and a speedy process.

  7. ............

    how can i track it?

do i have to make an infopass?

Not sure about expedite process…perhaps works differently...

But in my case they cashed our check and we received NOA1 the next day..(see timeline). You can then do an infopass using the number provided. Unfortunately, everything takes time and they would probably not provide additional information over the phone. Until you receive the NOA with associated case number, it’s difficult to find any help.

Perhaps someone else will have more info.

    Best of luck.

  8. Well i have couple questions regarding the I-864, ill give a brief description of our situation. I am the petitioner, and am filing for my wife (k1) and step daughter (k2), i originally read that since the K2 is under 14 and has immigrated within 6 months that we dont need 2 separate I-864, but then i have read here that i do need 2 separates, which is correct? also, part 3 question 9a i listed the K2 because she has immigrated within the 6 months. what i dont understand is Question 24d and 24e. in the example form they check 24e and write the name of the immigrant. and if im not mistaken I-864a is only when an immigrant is contributing their income with mine......but 24e contradicts my situation (k2)

Question 24e - The person listed above, , does not need to complete Form I-864A because he/she is the intending immigrant and has no accompanying dependents

i know my question is kinda confusing because its hard to explain......sorry and thanks.....

I am a US citizen and my wife arrived on K-3 with no children, so not sure if I can be lf much help, but here is my thoughts:

Assuming: (Derivative) K2 visa was received at the same time K-1 was issued.

A separate I-485 is needed for both intended immigrants.

I-864 and I-864A information is confusing in this area, so I don’t have an definite answer, but, I would likely try filling out the I-864A along with I-864.

Reason is, on page 7 of the instructions it states; “He or she does not need to complete Form I-864A, Contract Between Sponsor and Household Member, unless he or she has an accompanying spouse or children.” So, even if the income is (zero) for the “Household Member”, it is still required.

That is my understanding of the wording.

I hope this helps and hopefully, someone else knows for sure.

    Best of luck.

  9. Help! Planning to travel soon.

Curious about what the steps are to travel abroad after receiving a K-3 Visa.

    Have not adjusted status yet.

The K3 Visa is suppose to be good for multiple entries, but we’re curious about the I-94 process. Do we simply present the I-94 Departure Record to the Airline ticketing counter, foreign country emigration or who, what when and where?

When returning, where do we obtain an additional I-94 Entry Record?

    Any help appreciated.

    Thanks,

  10. Well I am flying back over tomorrow B) , but I sent it all early incase I have issues getting there on time.

    What does AR mean?

Does anyone know if they let spouses in for these K-3 interviews? I have read, and my lawyer tells me, it is hit or miss and up to the consulates.

    Thanks for reading,

    AJ

"Does anyone know if they let spouses in for these K-3 interviews? "

Philippines does but some others don't!

I sent my wife the supporting documents via Internation USPS (Big Mistake) and they didn’t arrive when they claims. We were getting worried, so I recent NEW notarized copies via DHL. They both arrived at the same time…go figure....

Our consulate required all documents a week before the interview. Not sure if that is the same at all consulates.

    Bolivia Consulate --------

I flew in the day before and was able to attend my wife’s K-3 Interview without problems. In fact, we think it made a clear statement about our relationship and we were able to answer questions together. It went very well.

  11. !!! FINALLY !!!

Well, we finally made it through K-3 and we are now together in the US.

What a tremendous relief and we are sooooooo happy. I submitted a consulate review with additional information, but over all, everything went well.

We now need to adjust status, but not sure what we will do next. I’d like to get her SSN, but may not want to adjust status immediately. We’ve only been married one year and I would prefer not to have to deal with 2 year temporary green card if it can be avoided.

If anyone has any recommendation for the next steps, it would be greatly appreciated.

Wishing everyone speed in your journey.

  12. Anyone else have similar situation or ideas?

My wife's interview appointment is set for June 16th and we are preparing.

I realize all consulates are different, but our situation seems unusual to me.

We did not receive packet 3. I called consulate and they said they had everything they needed. They then emailed us packet 4, with appointment letter and instructions.

The instructions said to get medical and send via DHL all required documents, 5 days in advance of appointment.

We’re a little confused, because we are not sure if we send all originals or bring originals with us to interview. I guess we need to call and hopefully get clarification.

    Any ideas? :help:

I am also taking a chance. I booked our flights already, because I want to be there for the interview. They said if all things are successful, she will be given the visa on the same day.

We are very excited, anxious and of course, a little nervous.

    Thanks for any help.

I wish everyone speed in their journey.

  13. Hi there!!

My I-129F is at NVC now, they received it on may 16. Yupiii!!! Hope they'll send the case soon to the consulate.

Most I-129F petitions (K-3 route) appear to leave NVC within a couple days.

It took our I-129F over 3 weeks to arrive at NVC, but went out to consulate the next day.

We're still waiting on our packet 3...ugg. ..been calling and they said they will email it to my wife.

Best of luck and speed in your journey.

  14. I wanted to comment on status and interesting Bolivia experience.

My attorney wanted my wife to pick up packet 3 at the consulate, in order to speed things along. This troubled me, since it is difficult for her to make these long trips.

I called and confirmed with the US Embassy in Bolivia, that they have received our file. I was able to obtain a phone number and reach actual people. They told me to “Not have my wife pick up the packet 3”. They said they could now email it to her since regular mail was not always dependable. So I provided the necessary information and we are now waiting on that.

Phone number I used for US Embassy in Bolivia: 591 2 216 8000

We have three(3) police reports and the consulate told us we did not have to have these translated, since they were in the native language. What a relief and saves my wife extra translating/certifying work. It could be a different requirement in other consulates.

I’m not sure if this would be helpful for all countries, but getting the correct phone number to an Embassy/Consulate, seems to make a big difference. I have had a lot of trouble getting through on the regular published phone line and trouble getting them to respond to email.

Anyway, they were very helpful and friendly. A world of difference from the USCIS. I hope the rest of our journey and interview goes so well.

Best of luck and speed to all.

  15. Chet, Actually Im a California girl "Marine Brat" but now many many many years later, Houston is now my home. Im one of those East side working folks. Good luck, today is just beginning for those touches.

    Paris Heart

Touches may not mean a lot, but they can mean everything.

I’m a ‘07 filer, so don’t use my timeline, but ‘08 filers should happen faster than ours did.

We received a touch and a week later received letter of approval (NOA2). The USCIS website STILL doesn’t reflect the approval, HOWEVER our paperwork was past NVC and on it’s way to the Embassy four weeks later.

It’s hard to say anything positive about their website quality, but the touch does mean your file was checked in or out. So, something was done, even if it was only something simple.

Hang in there… I wish you all the fastest possible journey.

  16. HeLLO!

Prior to your questions, My husband and I were married already before we filed the K3 visa, but in all of my forms likes I-130 and I-129F I used my single family name instead of my married's name because I had my passport already and that I am using my single name on it and since we think it would be alright. so we just used my single name. so far we havent receive anything from USCIS yet that we need to changes my family name in all the forms that we submitted on them, and I was praying they wont :innocent:

I hope this will help but if you know some information about this let me know...

    Take care and Goodluck!

    checraig

We did similar. We didn’t want to waste any time getting our visa petitioned filed, so my wife left her maiden name on all documents and passport. The name on her passport is the most important and the one she will use for all processes. We did provide her married name as “Other names used”.

Unfortunately, we will probably have to wait, get SSN in maiden name, and then change her name before we can change her name on any US identifications. In the mean time, we are using both names where ever it is allowed.

It would have taken a few extra weeks, but getting her named changed on her passport and government ID would have made the process much easier after she arrives in US.

  17. Hi,

Last week I e-mailed NVC with the all the information that they request. Apparently, they HAVE to check all inquiries:

I got the same email. The only problem I have with it, is it doesn't tell me details.

I would have like to had them tell me NVC case number and specific dates of processing they performed.

I'm also concerned about how to contact the Consulate to find information. The times I've emailed the Consulate with questions, they never reply...and we haven't had much success in getting through on the phone ether.

Still, at least NVC replies to emails and phone calls. That's more than we could say about USCIS.

  18. I e-mailed Rio de Janeiro consulate asking how long it'd take for them to assign an appointment for a K3 interview... took them 3 emails to understand my question (jeez), but finally I got this answer:

For applications arriving now, we're scheduling interviews for the end of july.

I guess that's an important information for planning :)

I'm going to go post this in the south-america forum now.

At least you were able to receive an answer by email. I can't get anyone to talk to me.

I was reading the Bolivia Embassy website where my wife is. They indicate they will send the packet and then “Once you have returned the checklist indicating that you have all the required documents, the IV unit will schedule the final visa interview.”

????????? So, is this the standard? Wait for them to call or mail? :clock:

I’ve read that some have called to schedule an interview, but perhaps this is dependent on which Embassy. They don’t provide estimates on when the interview will be scheduled, but Embassy site indicates that normal interviews are within 21 days, but I have nothing to go on for K-3 interviews.

  19. Hey Can you tell me whos filing here from October 07---I130 (feels like 1907--alas 2007) and who has been approved and who hasnt yet....

See... I just want a general idea...

    :star:

Mailed I-130 at the end of October.

    Mailed I-129F in January.

    Approved (both) April 2nd.

Left NVC and on it’s way to Embassy.
