Hi! I need your advise please. My problem is AA's maximum baggage limit. Im flying to LA via PAL then connecting to Florida via American Airlines. The maximum baggage limit of PAL is 70 lbs and AA is 50 lbs BUT.... per AA's website, if its an international flight the allowable maximum VARIES. I asked two friends from US to call their toll free number and they give different response. ONe said that they honor the maximum allowable limit of PAL of 70 lbs at no extra charge since its a connecting flight. However, one said that its strictly 50 lbs and in excess i will be charged. Now im confused which is which coz i definitely dont want to pay extra and at the same time, i dont want to take out some of my stuff already in the luggage. Im more inclined to believe that they should honor the 70 lbs coz they said in their website it VARIES, but i just want to know from you guys if you have any experience on this. I guess I would believe you more than the staff of the AA who gives conflicting response to inquires.
I would appreciate your reply ASAP as im leaving very soon.
Thanks

Hi! I posted a question a couple of days ago asking whether I can stay in LA first for a few days before going to the state of my fiance since i have relatives in LA. I just need to rest for a couple of days before I go to him. Well anyway, my flight to LA is confirmed but from LA to his state is already fully booked till whole of May. THis is also the reason that prompted me to think to stay a couple of days in LA. Now the question i wanna post is this: is it ok if i just purchase my ticket from LA to his state while i am in LA or even while i am here in Manila? Will this be a problem at the Point of Entry when the officials ask me? I looked at the website of flights traveling within USA and there are still available flights there. Was wondering why the travel agency cannot confirm my flight?
Would again appreciate your advise.
Thanks.

Thanks for that advise. I intend to stay for 2 to 3 days first in my relatives house before I proceed to my fiance's state. Also it is sooo difficult to get confirmed booking at this point from LA to his state But anyway, thanks mucho!

Hi! Would like to seek your advice and here is my situation. Im planning to leave end of the month to see again and marry my fiance in one state but my connecting flight is in LA. I have relatives in LA and was wondering if i can stay with them for a few days ( since i also have some stuff to bring for them) before going to my fiance's state. Is that possible. I wanted to do this so i can rest and look fresh before I see my fiance coz its gonna be a long almost 1 day trip when i get there.
Please advise so i can already make my booking.
Thanks and look forward hearing from you.

Ok, just want to let u know what happened in my case. After i paid Delbros at Metrobank, i received 2 texts from Delbros acknowledging my payment. A day after that, i called Delbros and said they will inform USEM right away. Several days after, I called Delbros again saying tho they have informed USEM, USEM hasnt beeng giving the request for document verification tho i paid Delbros fee a month in advance. Now, after i got the pink slip and wanter to verify why no verification has been done, i was informed by one of the USEM staff that they dont do verification unless after the interview! So there u go! That's from the horse's mouth. They dont do verification process unless after the interview of the applicant. So in essence, i dont know the reason for paying Delbros the P650 in advance if they will not process it anyway.
Just sharing with you what actually happened on the day of my interview. As a matter of fact that lady was shocked to ask me where on earth did i get the idea that I should pay delbros in advance so there would be a document verification in advance of the interview. Its a shock to them.. and all the more Im shocked coz that is now how their process works.
-
I find it a little bit odd coz i read in this website that we are suppose to pay delbros so that document verification will not be delayed, hence i did pay a month earlier than my interview only to find out a few days before my interview that no verification process has been initiated at all at that time. Now the question is, why should we pay early for the verification process if USEM will not initiate the move to verify till our interview. I dont understand the system.
Anyway, its kinda frustrating that the document verification, i understand will take 4 weeks maximum??? just to check the documents issued by the same institiution that will verify our documents? Its like double verification process being made. Its ok to verify it twice, but i hope not that long as in 4 weeks. We have waited for so long, about 6 months just for the K1 papers to arrive to Manila from the US, then wait for 60 days to have your interview set and then the document verification of your birth certificate and cenomar for a month? If its a day or perhaps 3 days, that would be fine, but 4 weeks? That's too dragging already.

I would like to seek advise. IM from Manila but is it possible for me to request for visa pick up? Can i just sign the letter request or my fiance from US should sign the letter? The thing is I paid delbros early March for document verification and when i followed it up yesterday, they havent received anything yet from the embassy to be sent to NSo for verification. And my interview is set already next week. I just hope my visa and passport wont be delayed as a result of that.
Thanks.

Congratulations to Chuck and Rose!
I would just like to ask..... the request for visa pick up, must it be signed by the fiance from US or I can just have it signed. What are the possible reasons for the visa pick up, considering that i stay in manila.
I would rather have a visa pick up too, if that can be done.
Please advise.
Thanks.

Hi all, I took some paper and pen with me to the interview so I could capture all the moments.
Well, Thursday night ended for us by going to sleep at 7 pm. I woke up at 2 am and so did Rose, so we decided to start our day then. Just taking our time and getting ready. We were out the door at 5am and quickly found a cab. It was your standard Manila cab (beat up, no straights, and a great contibutor to the ozone layer). This guy was one of the wildest driver's I've encountered. The would bet money the guy thought I was a NASCAR scount checking out his talent. I eventually him to slow down n we are not in a hurry. I was tempted to offer him 100php to take his time because we wanted to get there in 1 piece. He continued to jockey for postion and show off his runway talent. We arrived at the embassy at 5:45 and the arena of junk sellers were in full force. I was fed up after about 5 minutes of listening to them. We did have 1 objective: find a person to hold Rose's cell phone will we were in interview and did for a fee of 100php. [i came to find out later that we could have left it at the embassy gate for free, for future reference]. I knew I would be hungry, so we walked across the street to get away from the vultures. I saw 2 Starbuck, neither open it appreared. So, I went into the Yellow Cab pizza and got some half baked potatoes to go. We went back across the street to the embassy, more poeple trying to sell a passport photo. I said we have 2 extra, you want to buy from me, half price. After I finished eating, I noticed that the real line was down the street. I was a little upset. We got in the long line. As I was talking to people, I was getting a random sample survey and quickly dicsovered a pattern, everyone was there for travel or work visa. HMMM I kinda had that feeling since it had been a while since they set any dates. We went through the metal detector, I had 3 bottles of water with me, but only had to drink 1 of them. Once inside about 6:45, we were seated at the infamous bullpen of blue chairs. The guard was sending rows of people up to retrieve numbers. I took a quick scan of the room and counted about 130 people still waiting for numbers and about 50 people already with them give or a dozen. Rose got her number at 7:10, #7004. Wow number 4 of the K1 folks. Next is waiting for finger scanning. It is true what you heard about trying to hear you name being called. The decible level must be set at wisper on the speaker. It was not too bad at first, but once people in front of completed their finger scanning, they had no reason to keep quiet. I was very irritated with the loud mouth guy behind who was trying to teach the history of the stock market. I gave him the customary U.S. look back at him with a little eye roll, similar to the treatment a talker would receive at a movie theater. The funny part was he was still waiting for finger scanning. We were called to window 16 for finger scanning at 8:55 along with the 3 other K1 filers, who all arrived at the embassy long before us. We then went to window 26 at 9:45 for prescreening. The person ask Rose 2 questions and me 2 questions. When she had Rose sign the papers, I noticed she was shaking and just to mess with her, I asked her if she knew the date.
After that we went to winow 27 at 11:10 for the real interview, we had a femal CO. She asked Rose the following questions.
1) Where did we meet? answered correctly
2) Why did she like me?answered correctly
3) What do your parents think about you leaving? answered correctly
4) Does he have brothers/sisters? Yes, answered correctly
5) Is he married? answer Yes, {wrong answer}
6) What does he do for a living? answered correctly
7) What was his previous job? Paramedic {wrong answer, I drove an ambulance}
8) What does he do for hobby? answered correctly
9) What interests do you share? answered correctly
10) What did your fiance learn in school? answer, fire {wrong answer, I have a BS in Environmental Science [ to Rose's defense, I have an AS in Fire Science and AA in Liberal Arts}
11) What kind of wedding do you plan to have?answered correctly
12) What did your fiance tell you about the climate in California? answer, He said it was the same as here, the CO said it was nothing like here.
So, I just sat there in dismay, thinking she doesn't know anything about me. I would have been worried, but I noticed that the CO was just firing questions at here, thinking more about where she will go for lunch than the answers (or incorrect answers ) Rose was giving. The CO said, "Well everything is in order and you are approved to receive your Visa, please wait outside for your name to be called." Rose said thank you and I chimed in, "Maam, I have a letter typed out for a request for Visa pick up because we are leaving next Friday." She responded 'can I see the letter?" I gave it to her and she said OK, you can pick up Monday or Tuesday.
We both thanked her and went outside. At 11:25, we were summoned to Window 38, and it was the moment of truth. Will it be the pink slip or the white slip? The first question the guy asked after looking at the papers was what phone number to call when Visa is ready. As he turned the pages, I saw the pink slip that I saw on some others earlier in the day and was geatly relived. We left the embassy at 11:40 and recovered Rose's cell phone.
As promised, I saved every detail, except for the headache I had all morning I left, and the street vendors did not sell asprin and neither did the 7-11 across the street, go figure. Life is Good, and God has been good to us.
Thank to everyone on VJ, here is to another success story.
PS. Sorry, if I have any grammatical errors, I will not be proofreading.

Re the affidavit of support for k1 visa, item no.11, do we really need not check the box either intend or do not intend and just write NOT APPLICABLE ( VIA K1 PROCESS) or the intend box still needs to be checked.
Please advise asap.
Thanks

Yes, my fiance is an American citizen. He just said he has a copy with a red duplicate stamp sent by the courthouse. Would this suffice or the consul might be requiring something else. Please let me know.
Thanks

I would like to inquire about court records. My fiance has a criminal record previously with his ex-wife. The copy of his court record on hand is a copy of the document with red duplicate stamp from the courthouse. He said this is the copy the courthouase gave him when he asked for a copy. Im not sure if it is certified true copy. Would this be fine?
Would appreciate your kind advice.
Thank you.

I would like to know, what would be my chances for a tourist visa after i have withdrawal of a K1 visa. Do you think it will be hard for me to get one, even if my intention is just to visit my family? I would really appreciate your wisdom here.
Thanks,
Mary
