@laser2222 sorry, a few more questions... Where did you mail your fingerprint card and passport photos? What was the situation with getting a U.S. passport after your oath ceremony in Guam? Did you have to wait a while? Were you able to travel back to Japan on your old passport and get a new one at the Consulate in Tokyo?

@laser2222 thank you. This is very helpful! I have been trying to figure that part out for a while. Was your green card still conditional at the time you filed, or had you already gone through the removal of conditions? Also, any chance you can send over a checklist of what you submitted? I know we need to submit a cover letter and a letter of intent to reside back in the U.S. at the completion of my tour overseas. I am confused on if we need to submit a DD form 1278 in addition to my orders (naming my spouse as a dependent). Did you have to submit a letter from your commander as well? Thank you so much for your information!

Did you paper file to the Chicago lockbox and then choose either Guam or Washington DC as the field office? Overseas Processing | USCIS
