  1. the first 3 letters of your case number will tell you where your interview will be...MDR is chennai

thanks for the info. my case # starts with NWD. So interview will be in Delhi?

Just wondering why the packet 3 would come all the way from Chennai...is that normal?

Check out the appointment schedule list on the New Delhi consulate website to confirm you have been scheduled for a interview in this embassy and do write a email to them to confirm the same and also check for the reason the packet 3 came from Chennai. As per my knowledge that shouldn't be the case. Getting a written(email) confirmation from the New Delhi consulate and carrying it with you for the interview will be a good idea to avoid any issues.

I have emailed the consulate... nivnd@state.gov.

Do you have a link to the interview list?

  3. We live in Hoshiarpur district, but my wife told me the packet 3 says it came from Chennai. Does this mean she has to go there for her interview, or will it be transferred to Delhi??

    Thanks

  4. I got a letter from NVC for an immigrant visa requesting a check for 70 bucks. I'm guessing I don't have to send this for my K3 process to continue?

Also, what happens when i do send it and NVC continues processing the immigrant visa...where does it go? is the interview here or where the beneficiary is?

    Thanks for the help

  5. Thanks for the help everyone.

My wife hasn't received anything yet from the embassy. Is she supposed to receive the packet 3?

It states we have to submit some documents to a VFS office, get a receipt, and then proceed to schedule a date for the interview? I’m a bit lost on what exactly we have to do next, when she has not received any documents.

    Thanks

  6. Do i mail the affidavit of support to my wife directly? or do i send it to CSC?

on the uscis website it states:

Once the form is affirmed, it should be mailed to the same USCIS office where the application was filed.

which is CSC, but i've read on here people mail to the beneficiary... please clear this up.... thanks

  7. For K1 we did not need to tick on any box, intend or do not intend (leave them blank) Daniel just wrote - (my name) will be my wife and I will always support her. That worked fine.

Ok, thanks! For K3 she already is my wife so i can put... IS my wife ...

  8. call up the NVC and check with them if they received your case / when will it be forwarded to the Consulate and then send all the papers to her. Tell her to keep a copy of everything - so her file should have - an original and a copy of each document and then arrange them so she will not have any trouble finding any document during the interview

thanks Daniel, i will give them a call.

Do you know what i need to put for following question on the I-134 form:

    11. I [ ] intend [ ] do not intend to make specific contributions to the support of the person(s) named in item 3.

(If you check "intend," indicate the exact nature and duration of the contributions. For example, if you intend to furnishroom and board, state for how long and, if money, state the amount in U.S. dollars and state whether it is to be given in a lumpsum, weekly or monthly, and for how long.

in the VJ exmaple form it states the following:

    N/A ( K1 visa process for permanent residence )

so do i put AOS process for permanent residence?

    thanks for your help...

  9. what address does the embassy use?

I believe they use the address given on the I-130 and I-129F form, to contact the beneficiary.

thanks! how long does it take at NVC?

both my petitions have been approved, so I need to send I-134 now...?

  10. Well yesterday i checked my mail, and noticed two letters indicating my I129f and I-130 have been approved. I'm assuming this means I'm taking the K3 route. but I'm wondering if the immigrant visa will continue to be processed? will we have to go back to india for that interview at a later time?

what is the 4 month date range under the approval ?

    thanks to everyone...

  11. U will need to send the I-134 and all the supporting docs..

    Tax returns, 1040 W2s for the last 3 years (2007,06 and 05)

Paystubs for the past 2-3 months (most recent)

any other papers for the income you are showing...

Also send the evidence of relationship you have collected over the period of time

    Phone bills

    Letters/cards

    receipts of gifts sent

letters from your family explaining their relationship with the beneficiary

The Consulate will contact the beneficiary once they receive the case from NVC.. Its a good idea to call the NVC and check if the ase has been sent to the Consulate... If it has, the beneficiary can call he consulate and submit DS230 part 1 and a few days later collect the packet 4 and interview date which will have all the instructions to what they need to do..

This is a good idea rather than wait for the consulate to send the packets which wastes a few weeks... Ask me if you hv any questions....

cool...thanks for all the helpful information. i don't know if i have paystubs that far back. I was under the impression only 2-3 are needed.

I'm guessing i can send this anytime...

  12. Hi there,

Do I only need to send Affidavit of Support I-134 to the beneficiary?

Also, when does first communication take place with the beneficiary and what address does the embassy use?

I’m not even sure how address work in India, it’s not down to street or anything, just the city name?

    Thanks

  13. I checked everyday for the longest time, and the last updated date never changed....

Nobody truly knows what the touches mean. But they give hope when we see they are touched. Just means somone at USICS is doing something with file. Keep faith.

    Good luck.

    Paris Heart

    thanks Paris!

Yeah I'm trying to keep faith. I was just wondering how often touches happen lately from CSC, and the timeline after a touch to approval letter (NOA2).

reason im asking is, i might be going out of the country for a while, but if the letter is coming soon, then i should stick around a bit in case i get a RFE.

i want to thank everyone on VJ for all the helpful information and support. i wish you all well and quick approvals so we can be united with our loved one...

  15. CSC is moving fast. I have been checking the mail everyday for our NOA2!!! Checked the USCIS website everyday too but no touches since 19/2/08. I hope the next touch will be approval!!!

    Good luck everyone!

yeah mine was last touched April 7th,2008. haven't seen any activity since. I don't know what a touch even means, but hopefully it's getting close.

I've seen some I-129F NOA1's around March 11,2008 already approved (http://cse.ssl.berkeley.edu/igor/vjdata/default.aspx). i hope this means some us waiting after 3/11 are approved shortly.

    gud luck to everyone....

  16. Hey everyone...

I can't seem to find any information on what the US citizen has to do after receiving NOA2.

When do I file the I-134?

Do I need to send any papers to the beneficiary?

    Any online payments to NVC?

How long does it take after NOA2?

    Thanks

    What petition got approved?

I'm assuming your I-129F, since you mention I-134.

If so, you do not send any papers or online payments to NVC. They will forward your case to the Consulate/Embassy, who will review the documents.

The I-134 will only need to be taken to the interview, if i'm not mistaken. But check the guides about this also, I think it is mentioned in there.

thanks for the response. In the guide it states a lot of other things that i didn't notice anyone mention as required:

    1. A copy of the entire I-129f and I-130 package (that you made when you sent the petition in) and a copy of information that you sent back due to an RFE (if you received one).

    2. I-134 / I-864 Affidavit of Support form. Ensure it is notarized (by a public notary), with all required supporting evidence. Some consulates may require one or the other forms. You will need to verify with the consulate which they require. You can call or email the consulate to check ahead of time. Additionally, the consulate will notify your fiance(e) via mail correspondence which they prefer. Attempt to start collecting the required information ahead of time, as it can often take several weeks to collect it all.

    3. You will need at a minimum (for the above form) two to three of your most recent pay stubs and a signed letter from your employer listing you job title, start date, your salary, and the status (full-time) of your position. Begin collecting these asap after your NOA2 arrives. You will also probably want to include other evidence such as your banking information and other assets as required by the I-134/I-864.

    4. A copy of the NOA2 that you received in the mail.

is 1/3/4 required or just for safety?

  17. All,

I wanted to post an update on the NVC process (for those who are already there or will be there soon). With online payment of the I-864 fee bill and the IV fee bill at the NVC, you can now print your own coversheets to mail your I-864 and DS-230 to the NVC; the difference from James' shortcuts is that these coversheets are official from Department of State and not the manufactured ones from James. It is worth thinking about and building into your plan. If you can take that route, it could save you weeks at NVC. Here is a link with some details. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=125016

We will have to have a case# at NVC before we can start doing this? does this apply for k3 as well?

I'm a little behind on what i have to do after NOA2
