  1. Help!

I need info for a lady of 73

She came to the USA 35 plus years ago with her husband.

    Her story in short

Stayed with her husband 13 years divorced

    Remarried, and divorced again.

Worked for 35 years, paid taxes and SS, upon retiring, she can not get her SS, has they have no record of her coming to the USA, ex husband said all papers where lost in a house fire.

    Any info would help.

What kinda visa would you have needed back 35 years ago?

  2. Hi everybody,

Although my husband and I got married back in October, we are having our big and fun wedding in April. I really want to find an appropriate quote to go on the front of the program. Does anyone have any good ideas? There are so many quotes to read through online. I was hoping to find one that maybe talks about finding love/travel/soulmates, ya know, all the cheesy stuff.

Please share if you have any that you love. Thanks!

    Jenny

    always hopes, always perseveres.

    Love never fails...."

  3. You can get HP at the World Market stores

Awesome! There's one in Chicago apparently, so that's a 7 hour round trip to get my HP sauce.

    Worth every mile :D

Don't you miss #8 rock from Wales, my aunt was from there and would bring us some every summer when she can to visit us in Scotland.

  4. From what I read about other people's problems hunting down British foodstuffs, I feel like I must be living in some sort of Brit-food paradise. Our local Stop & Shop and Shaw's ALWAYS have tons of stuff, and the selection seems to grow every week. On my last visit to S&S, I spotted Ambrosia Custard AND Rice Puddings, 4 different types of McVities digestives (regular, milk choc, plain choc and the sort that have the caramel in them too), Bounty bars, Ribena, Mint Viscounts (purchased!), Milky Bars, Mint Aeros, Choc Aeros, Cadbury's Flake (made in Britain), Jammy Dodgers (also purchased!), PG Tips (bags and loose), Ty-Phoo (bags), Ribena, Robinson's Lemon Barley Water, Lucozade, Heinz Salad Cream (blecccch), pickled onions, Oxo cubes, Bisto gravy granules (Beef and Chicken), Victoria Sponge cake mix, Bird's instant custard mix, a variety of Coleman's products (horseradish sauce, about 6 or 7 different packet sauces, mint sauce), of course big things of Marmite, Jacob's Cream Crackers, Heniz Baked Beanz (regular and the spicy kind), Heinz Tomato Soup, those tinned Spotted Dicks, em, and other things I just can't recall. It's now about 12 shelves at the S&S in Amity, and about the same at the Shaw's in Hamden. What is great is that the markup is generally not too bad. I bought 2 packets of Jammy Dodgers for $4, which in my opinion is worth it.

    We are truly spoilt! :D

WOW..........you had a real Brit Feast going on....lol, I've seen After Eights in Walmart and Value City at Christmas. But my quest this year is to go to the World Market and hunt down a real Easter Egg, I've not gotten into the easter basket thing here.

  5. If you can find a WORLD MARKET store they have all kinds of great British Food, pengiuns, garabaldi's, heinz custard, heinz beans, ambrosia creamed rice, all kinds of cadbury's sweets, jam, vimto bars, digestive biscuits, and my personal fav., chocolate digestives [dunked in a hot cuppa tea.] i'm getting homesick now :(

  6. I was thinking that it would be a great idea to incorporate Brit/Scottish wedding traditions into our ceremony and reception. I found various things online like wedding hats, fruit cakes etc but what are some things considered "quinessential" to a wedding in the UK?

My DF is already wearing his kilt and all that goes with it, so we got that covered. What type of foods do you serve at the ceremony? I'm having our reception in an Irish Pub, so I'm guessing they could probably come up with some of the traditional foods.

Oh, and as I'm sure someone is already going to bring this up, it is already a tradition in Nebraska to double/triple fist drinks from the free bar...so lots of alcohol is already well covered!

You could give your guest a Scotish favor! a lil bottle of the good stuff and put the date etc on it, some home-made shortbread (or you could buy it online)wrapped in your family tartan.

  7. Grab on some letters from family and friends stating that they know you, know you're married and legit, etc.

    It is indeed looking better!!!

    good luck!

I had my interview last week, and we didn't have alot of things with both names on it, not even a bank account, it's in my husbands name, they were looking for tax returns, which we had. but I forgot to take current w2's. I took letters and Dr bills with my name on. They did ask for the "story" of how we met and talked with my kids about meeting my husband, I was worried as we didn't have much on paper together, the IO was very nice to us and I was soooooooo happy it was over with our passports stamped. Good Luck! Where are you going for your interview?

  8. Hi everyone!

I just got back from our interview to get a green card. After we finished I asked the lady interviewed us, how we did? And what now? And she said that she don't know and we brought not too many documents regarding our relationship such as receipts that we bought stuff togheter, travel or something (we got married 6 months ago). She said that that they have to discuss about it and thay send me a notice in 4 weeks.

So I still don't know what's up. Am I not going to receive my green card? How many people were denied a green card?

    Any thoughts? Suggestions? Thanks!

    Regards Maciek.

hi!can i ask you an advice?how did you do your AOS?i'm k-3 holder and k-4 is it the same procedure?

Where did you have your interview?

  9. Just writing in to let you all know we got the interview letter. It's set for January 31, 2008 in Roanoke, VA in the am. I had been checking the site for touches, updates, nothing. The I-130 has not been entered but we received an NOA. I'm glad we've gotten to this point and keeping our fingers crossed that there are no unusual delays as some have had. Good luck to you all!

Hi, My daughter just had her interview(I-485) in Roanoke today. The staff where very nice, but all the time you are wondering if everything is ok! She has her I-130, I-765 already. They took my husband and me in with her too, she's 19. Everything went well from what I could see. She was told that they would mail her, and said something about 60 or 160 days! I didn't want to ask to many questions, as it was my daughter interview. They asked her a few questions.

However I have my own interview next week along with my other daughters (16), When I told the officer that we had to come next week again, she asked if we had our I-130's for everyone. As we do she she there shouldn't be any problems. I asked her if everything looked ok, she said everything looked good. I thought they would stamp her passport today, I was told thy don't have computers there as they are working out of Fairfax and she would have to check her finger prints on the computer.

Has anyone else been to the Roanoke Office?
