So on July 26th, I already received email stated that my new GC is ordered. Then yesterday I received another email and SMS:
On August 2, 2010, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this CRI89 PETITION TO REMOVE CONDITIONS OF PERMANENT RESIDENT STATUS RECEIVED.
How interesting the process is? Ordered the new card first before they approved the ROC application??? Strange!!! Not sure which date is real for the approval...
Anyway, no RFEs this time and I got approved...I am overjoyed!!!
Please update me!!!
Today I received text msg and email from USCIS!!!
On July 26, 2010, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you. If you move before you receive the card, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.
Good Luck to all May filers...USCIS are working on us!!

Updated a little, very funny, Jun 7th is my original biometrics appt date, but after I did it at 10am this morning, when I back home I found there is another bio appt letter scheduled on Jun 11th @ 2pm. I didn't bother it because I heard many ppl received 2 times too, it should be an error for USCIS.
And me too there was a touch on 6/26, hopefully we will get approved soon (finger crossed)
Just for fun, I checked our case status and there was a touch on 6/26!
It still says initial review, but I am just so surprised that there'd even be a touch so soon.

I got biometrics appointment yesterday too!!!
Jun 7 @ 10am, probably take morning off to get this done!!

Check this out:
HSBC Easy Send Account
http://www.us.hsbc.com/1/2/3/personal/savings/easy-send
I'm using this to transfer money to my parents in Hong Kong every month. It's very simple and easy, I do it online and no need to go to any branches.
* HSBC charges no fee for the transfer of funds. Foreign exchange fees may apply at ATMs abroad. Other fees may apply when using an ATM that is not owned by HSBC. A Relationship Checking ( Plus Checking, Interest Checking, Interest Free Checking or HSBC Premier ) account is required. Minimum balance and/or monthly fee may apply to the Relationship Checking account. Please see Easy Send Account Terms & Charges for details.

Thanks for your reply.
Right, I'd better wait until remove conditions to get name changed.
So now I have a question, when I apply I-751 next year, do I just fill my married name? or they still need me to fill out I-90 and pay extra $290 for the name change??
Probably wait to remove conditions to get name changed. -
Hi everyone,
Long time haven't stopped by here...I have a headache question about driving license.
NY State DMV
FYI, I have been living in the states for almost 2 years with K-1 visa. I got my GC in Jun 2008. I know it's my bad, I filled the name wrong for AOS, 1st come to my mind - Family name should be my own maiden name...Therefore, my GC, EAD & AP all in my maiden name (e.g. Chan Tai Ming Mary). Nightmare starts....
Then my personal stuffs like bank/insurance are using my married name (e.g. Mary Smith). As for SSN, I could change my last name to married one. BUT the SSA staff said I can't take out my Chinese name because it shows in my passport, that makes thing complicated. (e.g. Tai Ming Mary Smith)
Here is the story:
1) My area's main DMV branch called to Albany NY to verify that I can't get my learner's permit until I correct all my names in the SAME. (e.g. either Mary Smith or Tai Ming Mary Smith) They said I only have 4 points of proof of name. I provided GC, SSN, and Credit Card. Also I bring along with my Marriage Cert, I don't understand why that can't proof I'm the same person.
Next March I may remove condition for the GC, can I correct my name into married name? DMV asked me to come back next year if I can correct the name. I don't think my SSN's name can change....
2) DMV said I can't go to mobile office to get my learner's permit coz I'm not born in US. I must only go to the main branch, they have machines to scan my documents.
Sighhhh I feel like I never can drive in US.
PLS
(if anyone get this problem as well?!)
-
Well I got my EAD in March this year and then started job hunting, at first I was focus on finding clerical/admin position which I worked in my home country, but none of them have feedback.
Then I tried to find some sales job, I hope to get some employee discount...
Finally, I got my 1st interview in June, but unluckily they said there are no appopriate schedule to hire me, due to I have no car/no driving licence. <I know I'm lazy and now have no time to make it done>
After that, I tried to find local jobs which is in walking distance. Now I am working 2 part-time jobs. One started from July, it's a sub shop (I make subs and do registry - cashier). Another one started from August, it's a bakery shop.
Both jobs are unexpected that I might not work in my home country, but it's quite fun, less pressured.
The more important is earn some money and get start to have some US work history.
P.S. A little remind - looking jobs in US need to do some follow-up, both jobs I have to call them back to check whether they have interested to hire me and I am still interested to work with them. Walk-in apply are more chances than the online application. I doubt anyone would consider the online one after I filled in a bunch of questions - wasted my time (at least 30 mins to fill in)

We watched NBC...it's so awesome!!!

Congratulations everyone who got the approval!!!
And yeah it's your turn Earmuffs, you should probably receive the card and the welcome letter within a week and you may have a little patience that the long weekend is coming, maybe 1-2 days delay to receive mails.
-
Today I received an email from USCIS, I was wondered why I still got email from them??? I think my case is completely finished for at least 2 years.
Here is what they said:
On 02/08/2008 you, or the designated representative shown below, contacted us about your case.
The status of this service request is:
On 3/12/08, we created an Advance Parole document for you and mailed it to the address we had on file at that time. You have notified us that you have not received it and the post office has not returned it to us. We must conclude that it has been lost in the mail. Therefore, you will need to file a Form I-131, Application for Travel Document with fee. You can download this form on our website www.uscis.gov. You can also file this form electronically on our website. Please follow the instructions on the form.
SO WEIRD!!! Well, I received the AP for nearly 3 months already now. Or if it's really lost in mail?? It's not my fault - why I need to apply again WITH FEE????
-
Congratz!!!
Heehee you beat me...I got mine 7 days after the approval email!!
-
Today I received both my green card and welcome letter in mail a week later they sent me email.
For the 2nd RFE, they requested me to resend G-325a and I typed my married name this time, however, it's still show my maiden name on my green card. Well, I guess this is a "nice" mistake that I made, I don't have to bring along with my marriage cert to go travel abroad.
Card Expires 06/06/10
Resident Since 06/06/08 (one day before the card production ordered??? Luckily it was not on 666
)
Please check for me if I am correct, is it from 03/08/10 I may apply for removing condition??
P.S. The small envelope they provided to protect the green card, I think it's not good enough, easy to tear off.
*On the welcome notice, they said "We recommend you apply several months before your card expires." But the sheet comes with the green card is more clear, it said "If you are a conditional resident, you should apply to remove the conditions 90 days before your card expires."

Please update me too!!!
I received my card on Aug 6!!!
Comparing to AOS, ROC is much faster, just took abt 3 months or less to complete.
Things to share:
1) Successfully changed my last name on the new GC. Thanks to VJ
, I had my cover letter with written that "please change my last name from maiden to married last name". Plus put my maiden name at Other Name.
2) Successfully update my address, since we just got a house in late April and we submitted the ROC application in early May, we did the AR-11 form onine plus attached a copy with I-751 too!!
Well, finally fixed my name, I think I will go to DMV again, last year they even not allowed me to get the learner's permit
They said my GC and SS Card are in different name, my old GC in maiden name and SS Card in married name, I already bought with my married certificate!!! They still asked me to come back when I changed my name on GC. Hopefully no more trouble deal with stupid DMV!!!
Been living in US without a driver lincense for almost 3 yrs now, luckily I got a walking distance job but I still feel so dependent on my hubby!! I just feel bad....
