  1. Hello, I still am kinda new to the Visa Jorney website. I have found this to be very helpful, My fiances case was fowarded to the Consolate in Ciudad juarez on april 7th, It was delyaed at the NVC for 49 days for additional Processing!! GRR!! Am i suppose to call Juarez now or when? are they going to send a letter or a package or soemthing? I am not too sure. THanks!

NVC will send you a letter saying that an approved fiance visa on you your behalf is being sent to ciudad juarez to be further processed or something like that. That is when you know that it eventually will be there (and wait a bit before you call so you give it time to get there). They will send you guys a fiance packet, which has the directins of what to do next and what papers you will need for the ciudad juarez interview. DO NOT RELY JUST ON THE PAPERWORK THEY SEND YOU FOR COMPLETE INSTRUCTIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Alot of the info is missing, so look at the guides or double check with somebody on visajourney before you go to make sure you have everything that you need.

AND alot of people mention a packet, we never got a packet...just a letter!

  2. The Swine flu thing is really scarying me !!! This morning my fiance read that there are 6 cases already found in Juarez about the swine flu. :reading: He has also been hearing rumors that the consulate will be closing during the whole week :crying: . I'd advice anyone who is getting ready to attend the K-1 interview to call before making the arrangements or just keep posted on news, It would be horrible to come from a far away place just for nothing. Of course all of this is just rumors, things we've heard but have not been confirmed. Hopefully things will clear up soon and we won't have to worry about anything.

Well I hope your right epifreak and this whole issue with the swine flu clears up soon because I wouldn't want to make arrangements for nothing. My question is for people who have already gotten their visa. From what I read which has been really helpful is. Is it safe to say that you will have to wait one day after the interview to obtain the visa unless your lucky and get it that same day? Also, if the interview is on a Friday is it very likely you will have to wait until Monday?

I would make an effort to get there Monday if possible, get the physical, the interview and stay away from FRIDAY and avoid having to stay over the weekend! We had to wait an extra day.

  3. Hi everyone,

I posted a new topic in the embassy forum asking for help on the I-134 and I got one answer but I was hoping that someone in this thread with specific experience with Mexico might be able to help a bit more.

I'm filling out the affidavit of support for my fiance now and there are a couple of things I'm not sure about. For those of you who were BELOW the poverty line as primary sponsors and didn't file tax returns, did you just write a letter saying why you didn't file tax returns or did you also have to provide "evidence" of your income? As I said in the other thread, I was working in Mexico and it would be really difficult, if not impossible, for me to get letters or any other proof of how much I made. I read in another thread that if you put "0" down on any of the blanks on the form that ask for income/assets, you are not required to PROVE anything.

The other thing is that I've been living in Mexico with my fiance and I'm not sure whether to put my permanent U.S. address on the form or my Mexico address. Someone told me to put my permanent U.S. address, which is not a problem, I just want to be certain that I don't mess anything up by doing this (since I already said that I live with my fiance). Opinions?

I used a sponsor but I did have a tax return. I would write a brief note just saying that you didn't file. I THINK that even if you work in Mexico aren't you supposed to file a tax return? I am not sure about that. But they are going to look at your sponsor for financial support. I think with the sponsor you will be fine! They are not the IRS and I don't think it is their job to find out why you didn't file! good luck!

  4. I'm fixing to go to my interview in the next couple of weeks, but I just realized that all the planning I had done might have been in vain now.

Do I have to go to the NEW US Embassy or the OLD one?

If it's thew new one, then how far is it from the old one?

Could I stay at a hotel close to the old one and be able to walk to the new one? I was thinking about staying at Los Cedros hotel that is recommended here in the site.

    Thanks

From what I understand, the old consulate is all the way across town from the new one. The old one is completely closed, so you can't go to that one, and the old one is in a very bad part of town so I don't think I would recommend staying near the old consulate. My fiance is staying at the Holiday Inn Express--it is right next to the new consulate. You might want to check into that. Good luck! ;)

Yes thats true...but they bring you back too! People start lining up at the new clinic around 6am, get there early, just 2 min from the Holiday Inn

    Marko

What does this mean for the medical exams then? Did the clinics move close to the new consulate or are they still located by the old one? Thanks

There is still a clinic by the old embassy, but there is also a new clinic by the new embassy. Someone on here said that when the new clinic starts getting overly full, they start bussing people over to the old clinic.

  5. Ok, has anyone had any success filling out form DS-160 on the embassy's website?? :ranting: Supposedly, this online form is now supposed to replace forms DS-156 and DS-157, and they say it has to be filled out and submitted online prior to the interview. You have to take the confirmation page you receive, after you SUCCESSFULLY submit it, to the interview with you. Aldo and I have attempted to fill out this freaking thing 4 different times...each time taking more than 2 hours...and each time something has gone wrong with the embassy's website and we've lost all the info. I'm about to go postal on somebody!!! :girlwerewolf2xn: GRRRR!!!! So, I'm just wondering if anyone has had an interview recently, and if they still accept forms DS-156 and DS-157?? I've lost all patience with this online form! :diablo::help:

I was at the embassy for our interview last week! yes you need the 156 & 157

    https://evisaforms.state.gov/

Make sure when you print out the 156 you get a bar code printed out too!

  6. OMG! I just called the juarez and they have received my package! BUT they said that there are alot of people waiting before me and that I might have to wait months!!!!! even after my NOA2 expires!!!!! WHAT SHOULD I DO????

As long as your case is still active, which it is, don't worry about the expiration date. They will extend it for you. I called the embassy two weeks ago and they told me the letter would be sent within 4-8 weeks. February 23 will be 8 weeks for us and we haven't received anything yet. I hope the person you talked to was exaggerating! We set our wedding date as April 18, thinking that would give us ample time to receive the invitation letter. I hope we aren't wrong about that...

I really hope you are right! I was hoping for our wedding to be under a cerryblossem tree in DC and they only blossem about the last week of march and the frist week of april...... I am kind of a freak when it comes to wanting to know about dates and I have read most of the time lines from people that have recieve there NOA2 after July and the Aropx date is about 8 to 10 week for package to be sent ..... which is not a good thing...... and this guy made it sound it i was going to be waiting another 6 months!!!!!!!

Good luck to both of you. You never know what to expect from the Juarez consulate....

Pita and I arrived in from Guanajuato to Juarez Sunday afternoon 8th of Feb at

the Holiday Inn express. That afternoon we located the bank, the medical office,

got some food and prepared for the morning visit to the clinic. The next day we

arrived at 8am and to a line of hundreds of people and found out that the clinic

opens at 6am! Pita went in and was taken by bus to the old clinic downtown. We

are assuming because the new clinic just cannot handle the heavy traffic of the

3000 plus who come every day. (I asked an officer at the embassy and he said

that they average 3000 people a day?) She got back around 1pm. The next

morning we went to a trailer next to the new medical clinic at 6 AM to collect her

results. There is new construction next to this trailer so I am assuming that soon

    everything will happen right there.

The scheduled appointments start at 6 am at the new embassy. We arrived at

7:30 thinking we would go to the beginning of the line with our “open”

appointment. Pita was put in line with the 8 AM appointments and waited her

turn. She came out around 2:30 – her interview went fine! They said that her visa

would be waiting at the DHL office in two hours. The DHL office is about a 15 min

drive from the Holiday Inn and the shuttle driver took us there at 4:30 but it wasn’t

there. We went back at 6pm and it was there!

The next morning we took the bus back to Guanajuato and will be leaving in a

week for San Francisco through Houston. Whew! Next marriage and then we will

start the AOS process. If you don’t have a car staying at the Holiday in isn’t a bad

deal. It is pricey if you’re on a budget, ($85 a night) but you get an all you can eat

breakfast and being to walk everywhere is a big plus. They also have internet

    and a printer.

Thanks to everyone who shared their experiences and information on this web

page. The embassy seems a tad behind on all the information needed.

    Mark and Pita

  7. Hi everyone, i have some questions about the AOS process that i am hoping that you guys will be able to help me out with so my husband alfredo can get his green card.

On the form I-485, the instructions in USCIS say that i need to attack a copy of fiance pettion approval notice, is that the letter that i got in the mail that reads "Dear petitioner: The state department's natinal visa center has recently received an approved -129F petition filed on behalf of your fiance. THis letter is to lt you know that within a week the petition will be forwarded to the appropriate visa-issuing post where your visa interview will take place." And then it lists my husbands name, the INS receipt number, the case number, and where the case will be processed at. Is that the letter that they want a copy of? If not, can anybody give me a clue as to what they want????

It also said that i have to include a form of I-94, that is the page in alfredo's passport right? I just need to copy it?

And also, they want me to submit the vaccination supplement, that means that it needs to be transcribed right? Do i have to translate it, or is that what the surgion general does? I really dont know what transcribed means, but a woman told me that that was what i had to do with alfredo's vaccination records that he brought from mexico. Has anybody done this? What do they do/what do i have to do?

Hi there, sorry I cannot answer you because I am only going to Juarez this coming Monday, but I thought I would ask, "what should my fiance bring to the US?" sounds like she neds to bring a copy of the vaccinations she has had correct?

    thanks

    Marko

  8. Well I haven't been in the forum for a long time but I just wanted to give you an update on my situation.

Well I arrived in Juarez Mex on Wednesday Jan 7th. I booked to stay in Quality Inn and I highly recommended it!!I have already had my required medical and was immediately sent to the psychologist due to having one arrest...(had an arrest for driving without a license) The psychologist was very nice and everything went fine.

I am now currently waiting for my first interview on Monday the 12...but will be staying till the 13th... because of the new policy of the counsel, the first interview will consist of taking your fingerprints, visa and will ask you a series of questions...then they will give you a blue slip to come back the following day to have your "real" interview.

The new policy works well I think because before one had to stand in line for hours...now one will only spend 1-2 hours max...they also ask for an extra day so that they can go over ones case carefully I believe...instead of doing everything the same day...I guess it was to rush full before.

Hi I am going down next week to help my fiance in Juarez, can you tell me what is the fee for the interview? Do we just go to the bank and get a money order, is it close by?

    thanks

    marko

  9. Hello all,

How long does it take for Juarez to send the visa packet? We recieved our approved NOA 2 on December 12th, and the NVC sent a letter on December 19th stating they would forward the information to the consulate within a week. Since then, we haven't heard anything.

    Thanks,

    Martin

    Takes about 2-3 months?

  10. ok everybody i am back in the good old USA, i went to juarez with my fiance on january 20th, we did not receive the appointment letter yet i know it was mailed out because i called the consulate. for anybody in the future who is in this situation this is what you are to do. go to the consulate at 7:30AM this is the time INFORMATION opens. stand in line and present the letter from NVC stating the USA case number and juarez case number. once he enters the number tell him you have not received your invitation letter but know you have been approved for an interview. he will print the letter out for you and you can proceed to the medical clinic for your exams.

on the 21th i went to get my letter printed out and the consulate was closed because they said they were behind on applications and needed an administrative day where no one was allowed in. so on the 22nd we went back and got the letter, then finished her medical exams within 30 minutes !!!. no vaccinations are needed for fiance K-1 Visa. they told her to come back in 1 hour for an interview with a psychologists and we were worried so we went back, then she waited 2 hours and asked how much longer, and they told her it was a mistake she didnt need a psychologist..... what a waste of time. anyways we paid the $148.00 US and went back at 2pm for her results all was good.

our appointment letter had an open interview from 8am to 10am so we arrived at 8am on the 23rd and my fiance diana got on line and entered the consulate around 8:30am. no makeup, liquids or electronic devices allowed inside. i waited outside until she came out at 2:30pm she came out with a tracking number from DHL the consualte said we had to pick up her papers from the DHL center when it was ready. so we kept calling and the consulate had not sent it that day. so the consulate was closed on the 24th saturday, closed on the 25th sunday, and then closed on the 26th for martin luther king day, and on tuesday the 27th DHL had received the packet and we went to pick it up at 5pm and when we opened the packet, it had my fiances papers and the WRONG passport inside. we were devastated and figured how could the consulate make such a BIG MISTAKE ??, the next morning the 28th we lined up at the consulate at 7:30 on the information line. we told the guy how we got the wrong passport in the packet and my fiance went inside. i waited till 11:30 and she came out with the documents from DHL and her own passport with the VISA imprinted !!!! the end of my adventure.

documents the were asked of and required

    DS-156 2 COPIES UNSIGNED

    DS-157 2 COPIES UNSIGNED

    CDJ-402 HER SIGNATURE NOT MINE

    PASSPORT

    4 PASSPORT PICTURES

    MEXICAN ID - CREDENCIAL

FIANCE LETTER OF INTENT 1 FOR EACH WITH NEW RECENT DATE

    COPY OF 2007 TAXES

when my fiance was asked if there's any more proof of relationship she showed her 1.04ct engagement ring

Thanks so much for the info, I am heading there Feb 9th, sorry you had to stay so long. Where did you stay?

    Marko

  11. Good for you guys!!!

So can I go past my expiration date or what do I do?

I am definitely not going to make it before.

i have a NOA2 date of 09-12-2008 i have not received a damn thing yet from the consulate, neither has my fiance in Mexico. at this point i don't think this is normal anymore, im going to try to call the consulate again and let them tell me that they still haven't sent shyt out. anyone else going through this?? it has been 3 and a 1/2 months since NOA2 what should i do ?? when i spoke to the consulate i told them my expiration date is January 01 2009. they said that didn't matter to them.

    I feel your pain!!!

When you called the consulate, did they tell you if they had already mailed your packet? They told us they mailed ours one month before we actually received it. I think what happens is that the consulate in Juarez sends an approval packet by FedEX to the other office located in El Paso Texas. It may take some time for El Paso to process the approval and send out the invitation letter and packet. By the way, they use regular US mail so it can take a week for your to get it even after it is mailed from El Paso.

Sorry things are taking so long for you and Diana. 3 1/2 months is a long time to wait for an appointment letter. Since it is an open appointment and taken so long for them to process, I would ask whether they will allow you and Diana to pick it up in Juarez. Other than the invitation letter, there is nothing in the packet that you can not get on the Juarez Consulate website.

Finally received an invite letter from the Juarez Consulate on Jan 2nd! So things are working there!

In our invitation letter it said go to this website,

    http://ciudadjuarez.usconsulate.gov/immigr...ance-forms.html

for important information and instructions about the medical exam. BUT the website doesn't load? Has anyone else received this letter and been able to open the webpage?

    Thanks,

    Marko

  12. Good for you guys!!!

Also could you send the number you used to get through and what time you called, My last call to the 900 number the phone on their end just goes dead?

  14. Im new here, i applied for the fiance visa in may, we have been approved since october 11,

My question is, the packet that she has says she needs a Mexican passport, original and duplicate of her birth certificate to take to the Juarez consulate.

She recently applied for and recieved her passport, but she turned in her original birth cert. in order to recieve her passport. Shes in reynosa now, is she going to have to go back to her pueblo to get an original copy or can she just take a black and white copy, i need to know, this is what is holding me back from leaving this weekend

Hi I was approved on Oct 10th, still waiting for my packet to arrive? Did you get yours yet?

    marko

  15. For all those anxiously awaiting the K-1 interview invitation letter and packet from Juarez, it appears they stopped sending them the end of August and resumed the end of November. Ours just arrived November 29th and shows that it was mailed (via regular US snail mail) on November 24th. It took 66 days from the time the consulate received our approved petition from NVC until the packet arrived.

The whole packet contains just 14 pages of instructions and forms (some duplicated in english and spanish).

    1. Invitation Letter

    2. Notice of new consulate location

    3. Form CDJ-446 (notice of Visa fee and payment methods)

    4. Form CDJ-400 (instructions for medical and interview)

    5. Form OF-167 (public charge proof of support)

    6. Form CDJ-430 (documentary proof of marriage.....should be for K-3 I think)

    7. Form Mexwide-202 (Medical exam instructions and fees...don't forget to add the 10% IVA tax)

    8. Form CDJ-402 (letter of intent to marry....do not sign until consular tells you to)

    9. Form DS-156K

    10. Notice of prohibited items which can not be brought into the consulate building.

HI, According to your timeline we should get something in about a week? Our app from NVC was mailed out Oct 1O to Juarez. Can you reply about your experience at the consulate and the medical process since you are going to the new location. Thanks...marko

  16. Hi all:

I just sent an e-mail out to a few of my fellow Juarez consulate hopefuls, patiently waiting for their packet 3. Seems like I got the same response from everyone... nobody has received anything and we all seem to be getting the run around from Juarez. I thought I would start off this new topic to see if I can get some fresh faces out their to respond....

    so......

Has anyone out their since September gotten packets back from Juarez?!?!?!?

It can't be taking this long!!! Please... if any of you out their had their NVC letter sent to Juarez in September or October and have definitely received a packet from Juarez, please let us know....

    Rene

There seems to be some minor confusion on the time it takes the consulate to send out the packet. I received my NOA2 last February, and it took about 3 weeks for NVC to receive my petition (your lucky, it only took them 1 week to get yours)...Then, after NVC received my petition, it took 4 days for my petition to leave NVC (I knew this by using the DHL website, all packages are sent through DHL and I got to see the exact day my package left for Juarez). Then after my petition left NVC, it took 2 days to arrive at the Juarez consulate. Then it took 4 weeks 2

days for me to receive packet three.

That comes to a grand total of about 8 weeks from the day I received my NOA2.

Comparing your timeline to mine, NVC did receive your petition 2 weeks before they received mine, so you should have gotten packet three approximately 6 weeks after the NOA2. However, things are probably moving slower since the US embassy in Juarez has moved to a new location. They closed down all operations for 1 week in order to move, and things are probably backlogged a bit. Be patient, it will not be much longer.

You could always trade places with my fiancee if you like? We filed in Sept. 2007, she went to her medical in April 2008 and the x-ray showed a microscopic mark on her lung. We were expecting an approved visa the next day and in anticipation we already had a prepurchased one-way flight to Michigan scheduled for the following day. Because of the microspocic spot, she had to return to the medical building 3 days in a row at 6 am sharp to give a sputum sample. I had to cancel her flight and buy her 3/4 more nights at the hotel. On top of that, the results were not going to be ready for 6 weeks! 6 weeks seemed like an eternity at the time and took us to approximately June 10ish for the results. I knew they were testing for tuberculosis and I researched and researched all about TB. There is inactive TB which is not a serious problem and the serious form of TB which is called active TB. I was told that if she doesn't have a lack of appetite, night sweats, a bad cough, fatigue, spitting blood, etc., then there was no chance she had active TB.

Well...June 10ish came along and I got the bad news: My 21 year old fiancee had active TB. She had to move to a clinic in Juarez and take pills everyday for 6 months. It was a pretty sad day. We were hoping for a summer wedding on the start of the Olympics, Friday, 08/08/08.

...I got tested at the University of Michigan hospital and I took a skin test that came back negative. I took a chest x-ray that came back negative. And to be 100% sure I took a blood test that came back negative. TB is 100% curable, in fact, the medicine is so strong it will kill the TB within weeks, but the procedure is to continue to take the pills for 6 months. I never would have known in a million years. Look at her picture, she is really beautiful and had none of the symptoms, not one. So this whole time since early June and still to date, my fiancee has been just around the corner from the old embassy. I visited her in August and it is a 5 minute walk. Her 6 month program will be complete in about 2 weeks.

Just have patience and remember it could always be worse. There are even some members that make my situation seem like an overnight experience, some have lifetime bans, some 5 year, some 10 year bans.

    Mucha suerte

I would like to try calling, please post a number that works from the US...thanks

    marko

  17. it is true that some people never receive their packet from the consulate and can go without an interview letter BUT, this only applies to people who have been considered for an interview, in other words, they sent out the packet and it was never received, if you have not been considered for an interview and not been sent out a packet you CANNOT go to the consulate, just to clear that up.

my NOA2 is 09-12-08 and the consulate received my case on 10-10-2008, still no packet, i called the consulate they said it could be up to 3 months to be considered for an interview. to call the consulate you need to be calling from a landline, i think its option 1 for english then option 2 for K-1 fiance visa.

I called the number (Applicants in the U.S.: 1-900-476-1212 with a cost of US$1.25 per minute. ) and it won't go through. It says that I dialed a wrong number?

Is there another number you have used to find out if they have sent out your packette?

    marko

  18. Thanks for replying, Some people say just print out the forms and go there? Others say that you NEED the package from Juarez, OTHERS say that they never received their package? I have to go to Mexico Dec 1-15, I tried calling the Consulate but the number they give out doesn't work? I guess I will just wait unless someone sends me a telephone #

    thanks

I tried to call the consulate as well (a while ago) from my cellphone, but was unable. I know people have successfully gotten through, but they were using landlines- so maybe if you are calling from a cellphone it won't work. Since it didn't work, I had my fiance in Mexico call them.

Also- the only thing you NEED from that packet that they send you is the invitation letter. I would highly recommend that you use the forms off the website to fill out, so you can do that now. And then you just need to wait for the infamous invitation letter. Good luck!

That's right, the cell phone will not go through. I even called my cell phone provider, and they told me I had to use a landline to call that number.

I am just going to be patient, actually I DID use a land line! Buut the numbers they give out for visas say that they are not in use? Thats why I was trying to find someone who had gotten throuogh and with which number? Congratulations on your marriage!

So you are saying that we SHOULD NOT go to Juarez unless I have received MY package or my Fiance's with an invitation letter! Just wait for it!

One more ?...has anyone from the US side gotten through to the new consulate using the numbers that they publish? or with another number since they opened? Could you post that number? thanks again
