  1. Hi,

A friend of mine (22yo pre-med) asked me this question and I cannot find an answer anywhere:

He is engaged to a US citizen who is 17 years old (with her parents' consent).

Can she (the minor US citizen) petition a K-1 visa from him? If not, can they marry abroad (with her parents' consent)and can she then file an i-130 for him (remember she's is a minor under 18)

My initial response was that this is not possible, but I want to make sure. If anyone has a better answer or a similar experience, pls let us know.... tks.

  3. Hi everyone

Back from a two weeks vacation with wify yesterday  Now that my case is completed I wish I had pushed my vacation and went to the interview with her :bonk: I'm a bit worried cuz she's a nervous about this whole process but hopefully everything will be OK from this point!

Are we supoosed to hear that our cases has been forwarded to our consulates first or do we get the interview date first? I seem to remember from a previous experience that the next AVR message would be: "Your case was forwarded to xxx on xx/xx"

Good luck to everyone and keep us posted.

Hi guys... Just to update everyone, I did call them up and the lady said that everything is fine with the I-864 and that they were referring to the DS-230...

From my experience with my mom's VISA before, the RFE for the AOS would result in a message that specifically says ".... Found documents missing or incomplete on your financial evidence" (That was a real RFE....TWICE :crying: ) but now I'm hoping that the lady was competent and she was reading off the right info... She say's once we get you DS-230, you should be all set :dance::dance:

    Good luck to everyone....

  5. :o:o:o So I woke up early and of course like and addiction now, I called the NVC and the AVR and there was an un-inviting message:

"The NVC has reviewed your packets and forms and found information missing of incorrect" What??? :(:(:(

I"m hoping this is what people are calling the fake RFE, cuz I'm pretty sure my I-864 was more than OK!!!

    Anyone one else wih updates?

    Good luck to all,

    Iyad

  6. Hyd, I didn't hear anything either but I took that as a good sign I guess... Let us know if you speak to them what this all means... I was hopping that they got it and are satisfied with it so they asked for the biographic docs...

We'll all finish within days of each other inshaallah :-) (me being last cuz I'm lazy and always use regular mail)

    Good luck to all.

  7. Hi everyone,

When I paid my AOS fee online, the IV status was "Not Invoiced". So today being bored and all I logged in to the NVC Online and I noticed that the status changed to "Not Paid" so I went ahead and paid it online and now the status shows as "In Process".

I have no clue whether the IV bill was generated or not (IVR still says NVC has received you DS3032, wait a few weeks for instructions) but I guess the status change online must mean something... Oh well :-) I'll let everyone knows in a couple of days if I'm out the $400

    Good luck to you all.

    Iyad

AVR Update: "The NVC is awaiting the return of the biograhic froms from the petitioner". I guess this means that they accepted the I-864 and waiting for the DS-230. Now I'm hoping for completion in May again :dance::dance:

  8. I'm not sure if there is a AVR message for accepting the I-864 but it should say something like

"The NVC has received your financial evidence -and found information missing or incomplete-" but from the posts it looks like they would be just waiting for the DS-230 to be processed.

I still have not gotten that one on the AVR yet... (I was lazy and sent everything in regular mail :-)) but I'm hoping by next AVR update we should hear something good (Tuesday usually)

Also, someone was saying that if you get the above AVR message, then your case is likely to be completed -faster- as soon as they get the DS-230.

My guess is that my case won't be completed in may but maybe in early June... I'm cool either way because after all the headaches with I-130 I feel like I'm way ahead. Go NVC :-)

    Good luck to all,

    Iyad

  11. Hi Lotofpatiece,

Congrats on the fast track in NVC... I have a question for you:

I know we have to pay the AOS fee of $70 and the IV proccessing fee of $400. Now are these two invoices issued at the same time and have the same IIN? Meaning do you have to call NVC once only and get one IIN and you'd be able to pay both bills online? or do you have to call them two separate times?

    Thanks and good luck,

    Iyad

Iyad, you need only one IIN to pay both fee. When you log in, you can see the status for payment. If it shows INVOICED, pay immediately. When it shows PAID, print out barcode coversheet and mail the forms.

Good luck to your immigration journey !

Many thanks :-) and good luck on the remaining steps :-)

  13. Hi All,

Another day checking the posts in the morning hoping for more VSC approvals or news and feeling just numb... five minutes into it, I notice my blackberry blinking and guess what: CRIS notice of approval :-) I couldn't believe my eyes!!! (I had fooled myself once before after getting a CRIS email because I had changed my password lol) but this time was for real

Hopefully this is a sign for those who are waiting for NOA2 from the NVC that things are actually moving...

I sent my I-130 on October, 29 (received 11/05) and the approval notice was sent out on April, 29 so it's almost 6 months to the day!

I had also sent an I-129f on Jan, 26 (received Jan, 30) but nothing back on that front.

Here is what the email said:

*** DO NOT RESPOND TO THIS E-MAIL ***

The last processing action taken on your case

    Receipt Number: EACXXXXXXXXXXX

Application Type: I130 , IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN

    Current Status: Approval notice sent.

On April 29, 2008, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN. Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service.

Good luck to all and thanks for all the valuable info posted.

  14. Hi Everyone,

When I sent the I-130 for my wife (she didn't have a passport then) I translated her name from her native language "Maisa" but then when she went to get her passport they translated her name into English as "Maissa"

All the documents' translations that I've sent contains the first spelling -different from passport- (Birth, Marriage, civil records cirtificates)

Now after I found out the name spelling on her passport, I sent the I-129F with the new spelling (again Birth, Marriage, Civil records etc.) with the new spelling (per her passport) Note that the name in the native language is and was always the same... just a translation issue.

I'm now worried that they're not going to like the two different spellings on the 130 and 129F

I called the USCIS line and the person said if it's errounous, he could put a service request to correct it and they would send me a letter on the result, but if it's a change then I need to send everything again with the new spelling... As yo can tell, this is very confusing to explain on paper :-) so what do you think I should do??? Just trying to avoid any unnecessary delays.

Thanks and good luck to all.

    Iyad
