We are very happy that my wife is 2 months pregnant and we are debating whether the baby should have Russian citizenship in addition to US citizenship. It is very easy to have Russian citizenship for kid with Russian parent(s). Can do it all in US, no need to go to Russia.

I am more cautious, because there could be obligation that the baby may not want when he/she grows up. Military draft... even US job, career consideration, can a US born citizen with Russian citizenship be American president? diplomat? And other concerns: security clearance ..

My wife thinks it is convenient when traveling and she is Russian.

Am I wrong?

The K3 guide seems to suggest that one can only file I130 and can go CR-1 route. But on regular K3, need to file I130 then I129F.

And I see everyone filed I130 and I129F, why is that?

I am looking at the K3 average file time to I130 NOA 2 for CSC, it somethimes shows fast and some for almost 8 or 10 monts. Comparing to K1, it is relative consistent among filers.

Am I reading it right? Why is that?

I applied 2000 for multiple K1s for my ex-wife for personal reason; she came to US more than once before we got married. We divorced in 2006. I applied K1 visa July/2007 for my fiancé. I asked for waiver and checked the international marriage site, and give the site URL, contact number. I was very worried but I got the NOA2 in normal timeline, no question asked.

Conclusion, just be honest and everything will be ok.
