  1. I received a yellow letter today and I have some questions I hope someone can help me with.

My biometrics (which was rescheduled) is on Sept 12, is it normal to receive the yellow letter before biometrics? (I'm just curious)

My main question is that it asked for last 3 years of tax forms. I have copies of our last 3 years of taxes, is this enough or do I have to request for them from the IRS?

Is there any other evidence I will need to start collecting. I have all our bills, bank acct statements that are jointly owned.

    Thanks in advance!

  2. I wanted to update my situation. I still have not received my rescheduled fingerprint appointment and it has been almost 30 days. I called the USCIS hotline and the person said she would put a check on my status and see if something came out. She told me to hold for 3 minutes and then came back saying nothing has come up and I need to call again in 2hrs. I don't get it? I am going to call back again later but does anyone have any advice on what I should do differently or who I should talk to? Thanks!

  3. Oh dear.. if it's any consolation, I did not realize that you had to submit evidence of marriage. My cheque was cashed though and I got my NOA1.

I sent in the pictures, copy of my green card and the application. I really should have read it more thoroughly. I figured I would get an RFE or something if I forgot anything but I now read that they don't do this for N-400s so I am not sure how this is going to work out. I did get my NOA1 a week after submitting and they cashed my cheque. I am now stuck with the biometrics. I rescheduled and now I pay the price. I am not going to stress about this, I have other things in life to worry about. :)

  4. Hi all,

It's been awhile but I am seeking advice from you guys. I sent in my N-400 late June 09 and received my fingerprint appointment for 7/15. I was going to be out of town that week so I sent it back to be rescheduled. I should have known better but I sent it regular mail. I did this with my removal of conditions two years back and receievd a new fingerprint date a week later. But here I am 2 weeks since I sent it back to be rescheduled and no mail. Should I be worrying or should I wait out for a bit more? ,My case status online says pending and has not been touched since the NOA 1 6/23.

    Any advice? Thanks!

Call them up to see if they received ur rescheduling request. Also check if your Application processing center accepts Walk in appointments .

Thanks. I couldn't find a number for the Biometrics office and they don't accept walk ins so I made an infopass appointment today. Basically I was told that they are backed up and I will get my appointment when they are available. She claims they have received it. I have a gut feeling that she is simply reading from a script. who knows. I'll give it a month or so more before I worry.

  6. I'm the non-citizen and I handled all the paperwork from k3 up to now (removal of conditions) and he just asked where to sign. He hates paperwork and I am better at it. Hell, I even file our taxes since we've been married. :) It's not that he doesn't care but it just worked out that way. I know how stressful it is and I ###### at him about it but at the end of the day someone's gotta do it so it might as well be me. Good Luck!

  7. I had to reschedule my AOS biometrics because we would be in Texas during the appointment - I received 10 days notice of the appointment. I physically drove the request for a new date along with evidence of our flight itinerary to the Atlanta Support Center and handed it in to the guard. I also called the 1-800 number and followed the options to reschedule an appointment and talked with them. They took down the information that I couldn't make the scheduled date and advised me I would be sent a notice for the new appointment within 30 days. The notice for the new appointment arrived two weeks later. It was not a problem.

If I remember the notices correctly, Atlanta doesn't give the option of coming in on another date without an appointment, but they do reschedule. Good luck with both.

Thank You. I think I will reschedule to be safe and from what i'm reading it isn't too bad a process.

  8. Infopass maybe?

And does this court date have any negative effect on your ability to remove conditions?

    good luck to you, L.

no its just a traffic violation.

Who got the traffic violation? US Citizen or Green-card holder?

If US Citizen, got the traffic ticket, then US citizen goes to court, while LPR goes to USCIS for biometrics, I believe the US spouse is not needed at the biometrics appointment.

I have the court date. I am the LPR.

  9. I received my Biometrics appointment letter today. I should be happy to have a date and get it done etc. But in October I got into an accident and was given a ticket and a mandatory court date even though I wanted to just plead guilty and pay the fine. But because it was an accident I have to go to court to pay. Anyway, my court date is on the same day as the biometrics. My court appointment is at 8am and the biometrics is at 12pm. Would it be ok if I was late or should I play it safe and reschedule. Does anyone has any experience with rescheduling with the Atlanta office. My fear is them losing my rescheduling request and then treating my case as abandoned.

Any advice would be appreciated. I am so stressed out my head is pounding.

  10. Hi, I don't know if anybody remembers me here. I used to spend quite abit of time on this forum while waiting to be united with my husband. Can't believe that it has been almost 3 years since I moved here wide eyed, excited and somewhat afraid. Jason and I are about to purchase our very first house so I stopped by to check if the change of address process is still the same. After 2ish years here, I have built up a credit score comparable to my husband's great score so we got approved for a mortgage pretty easily. I work at a public elementary school as a special ed. aide and am going to school to earn my degree in special education so I can actually have my own class!

Life has been great. I swear the first year here I thought I would not survive and we fought alot but we have learned so much and love each other more than we ever have and I can ask for nothing better. We have no kids yet and don't intend too until I finish school. :P

The journey has seen its ups and downs but I have never been happier. May your journey be as wonderful as mine!

oh I will also have to remove conditions on my GC soon so I'll probably be back for more info. Glad that this site is still around! :)

  11. i remember when i first arrived having no credit that even a store card would decline me. I did get on my husband's credit cards and opened a joint checking and savings card. Also am on the lease of our apartment and the energy bill. And have gotten store cards without problems and have been receiving pre approved card sin the mail (though i don't want them :P). it'll take time to build but as long as you pay your bills it will build up and soon you won't remember the time you had no credit :D

  12. My husband tried to teach me to drive but could not explain the basics to me and we ended up getting frustrated with each other. so he roped in his dad. My father in law having had experience of teaching his 2 kids (including my dear husband) was a much better teacher. Once I got more confident, my husband would sit in the car with me while I drove.

I passed 4mths later on my first try :D

  13. I joined my husband's bank account, was signed as a co applicant for his visa and amex card. The apartment lease has both our names but all the bills only have his name. I applied for an old navy card a couple months after I moved here and was approved for a $400 credit. Couple months back I applied for a card with mbna and go a $1000 credit.

Truth is I really don't know how this works but I think my credit is building if I could get a 1000 credit. heh.

  14. I had it pretty easy. Knowing nobody in the school system, I decided to do day care first. I sent out resumes and within one week had 3 interviews and was offered the job with 2. I took the higher paying one of course. Then I found my current job which works more with special needs children (my line) and I got the job within a week of sending my resume in. Now that I know some people, I am trying again to gte into the school system as a paraprofessional (while working on my degree so I can actually teach). I was a little put off bythe fact that you have to know someone to get a better job. But hey, now thatI know how it works, I can try to make it work to my advantage.
