I'd also like to hear from those who recently had their interviews about whether they brought recent passport photos or not? My main concern is really about the photos. As I have all the other pertinent documents & proof already prepared.

I took the extra passport photos to my interview but they were not asked for. I was required to sign my name on the front of the photos I submitted with my application so perhaps the suggestion to bring others is just in case the originally submitted ones were no good. It doesn't hurt to get them done and take them with you. Even if you don't need them for the interview you can use them after your oath to apply for a passport. No money lost.

So, my interview will be in 2 days and I'm just a nervous wreck. The letter says that I bring the appointment letter, my PI passport, my husband's birth cert to show proof of citizenship and our marriage certificate. I read on a couple of posts about bringing passport photos, tax returns, proof of ownership like mortgage, bills, etc to show that we are living in the same house. Is this necessary? I submitted copies of tax returns, joint bank accounts and copy of our mortgage with my N400 packet. Please advise

If you submitted a copy of a document (tax return etc) in your N-400 packet then make sure you take the original with you to interview. You probably won't need it, but you'll kick youself if they ask for it and you don't have it.

I was given one sheet of paper with three sentences on it and asked to read the second one "Which state has the highest population?". Once read he took that sheet away and gave me another sheet with three empty boxes on it and he verbally asked me to write "Washington is the father of our country." in empty box 2. I had nothing to copy. I just had to write what he said to me. He took the paper. Check it, wrote something on it and that was it.

I passed my interview in Tampa today. I have been recommended by the IO as being eligible for citizenship and I should have my Oath Ceremony letter in the mail in two to three weeks.

My process was much the same as everyone elses. I arrived 25 minutes early but wasn't called through until 40 minutes after my scheduled appointment time. The office was very busy but I deduced that many others were going in on time. It would appear that cases are assigned to specific officers rather than just picked up by random IO's and if one of them runs late then all cases assigned to that officer will run late, while other appear on time.

I went to a private office and was asked to remain standing to swear an oath of truth. One done I was seated and then the officer asked me to produce my GC, DL and all passports I have ever traveled with. While he flicked through the passports I was asked to sign my name on the side of the front of my two passport pictures I had sent in with my application. He then confirmed everything I had completed in my N-400 (name, address, employer etc) including asking me all the YES/NO questions (have I been associated with a communist group, persecuted anyone because of race, blah, blah). I was then asked to sign the last page of the N-400 application twice and print my name.

He then asked me to read the sentence "What is the state with the highest population?" Following this I had to write (no request for cursive or any particular style) "Washington is the father of our country." He then asked me six questions from the one-hundred we have been asked to study and he made notes as he went. I guess I got them all right as he only asked six questions in total. There is no point me writing out which ones they were as I do believe they are picked at random (probably by the computer which was printing stuff for him as he requested it during the interview) from the 100 given to us so anyone wanting to try to save time or gain an edge by just studying those mentioned here would be doing themselves a great disservice. Learn them all. It isn't hard or particularly time consuming and as mentioned before, if you are short on time use the CD in the car or convert to MP3 and put on your portable player.

When this was done he then told me I had passed the tests and he was going to recommend me as being eligible to citizenship and to wait for the oath ceremony letter in a few weeks. He printed off a form confirming all this and then showed me out. Whole process was less that 15 minutes.

The IO was polite, but business like at all times. I tried to engage a little small talk but I get the impression that he was very behind and trying to be thorough but speedy about the interview. Other officers I saw greeting interviewees appeared much more relaxed an jovial, but like I said I have no complaints about him, he was very professional.

With regards to attire. I saw plenty of people going to the interview rooms in jeans and tee's. Others like me were more dressed up. Despite being in FL I wore dress pants, shirt and tie (I was the onyl one with a tie) and felt appropriately dressed for the occasion and therefore respectful to the IO.

My wife came with me and as I left her and entered the interview area the IO asked me if that was my wife. It might just have been a passing question or her being there might have added weight to my case of citizenship on the three year marriage rule.

I took everything listed on the document checklist and more however nothing was asked for except the items listed above. I suspect all those things are asked for in the hope that if you failed to submit them in your application they can copy and include them at that point. I have always been meticulous about my apps and supplied way more data/evidence than requested and as a result have never been called an interview or received an RFE for any of applications (K1 thru N-400) up until this point. If you are thorough and learn early on what is required from you at all future point of your immigration process then you can ensure that you collect all the evidence you will need for when your application comes.

Received an e-mail from USCIS to advise that card production has been ordered on 5/16. I was approved 9 days ago.

This is the first status e-mail I have received in relation to my removal of conditions.

Received my approval letter from VSC in the mail today. Dated 05/07/2011. Yay. At last!

I am signed up for case updates but received no e-mail or text to say I was approved. I just looked online and my case is still showing as under "Initial Review".

Just waiting for the card now. Good luck to all those still waiting.

For those who have still not received their Biometrics appointment I suggest you call USCIS. I did today only to find that the appointment letter was mailed the same day as my NOA1 and I never received it (christmas mail problem maybe). My Bio appt was apparently in January and I have missed it. They are now mailing me another one. Be proactive and be sure to contact USCIS when things don't seem right, which for me in this case was seeing I was still one of the few without an appointmrnt date. Wish I had done it a few weeks ago. This problem goes to show the value of threads like these.

For those of you who moved to U.S under K1/K3-IR-1/CR1 etc. and in IT field,were you guys able to find a decent job in your area without any problem?How long did it take to find a job?Did you find the job environment & office culture different than your own contry?

I'd love to hear some personal experiences.

I've been searching since Jan 13th and live in the Tampa Area of Florida. Applied for a ton of jobs, had 2 interviews and no offers. I'm well qualified and used to support the servers for one of the worlds largest banks in their London HQ. My experience right now is that 50% of the suitable jobs on offer demand Top Secret security clearance as only really government funded sectors are employing. I know that 50% of the local businesses are not in defence. it just seems that way due to who is hiring. I'm now starting to apply for helpdesk positions but the pay is abysmal. It is not a good time to move to the US and job hunt.

I guess that even if you don't know what the rule is...if you can look to see what your I-94 date is and how it compares to your timeline (90 days. K1 expiration) that could help.

I came to the US under a K1 visa on July 1st 2008. I married my fiance on the 14th September which is within the 90 days of entry required. The date 90 days from entry would be 28th Sept 08. Looking at my I94 as I am filling in the AOS forms it shows the date I was admitted as 1st July 08 (correct), my class as K1 (correct) but Until has 21 Nov 2008 written next to it (not sure idf this is correct). My understanding was that the I94 was valid for the 90 days in which I had to get marriend and therefore should have an until date of 28th Sept 08. The date written there is actually the day my K1 visa expires (6 months after issue from the London Consulate). Is there a problem here? Is my understanding of what date should be there on the I94 incorrect or is the date incorrect. Can anyone see this being an issue for AOS? Does it give me more time to file and remain in status as it is looking like I will be a few days over the 90 day limit when i mail it off unless I cancel my Honeymoon to do paperwork.

Thanks for the reply. Obviously form your timeline you have experience of London. Why is London different from anywhere else? Can you explain your answer. I'm sure you understand that we both want everything to be as smooth as possible. If we can be in and out as quick as you were it would be awesome.

...and don't forget she has 5x the 2008 Poverty guidelines in savings too.

I remember seeing the word "indefinitely" somewhere (probably on this board) as relating to the I-134.

The USC has to show that he/she can indefinitely support the partner. So that means that you need some kind of income stream or at least a good outlook for a future stream (i.e. you are setting up a business).

Savings alone will only so long and then what? If you had $5 million then I wouldn't worry, but 30k won't last too long.

This is just my opinion and from what I've read on the subject, so you should consult somebody who knows the law.

Well she will be starting to work for herself on her return but while we expect things to go very well there are no guarantees.

What if she were to find employment again. Would they look dimly upon a job which she had only been in for a few months?

My first post here after much lurking so let me start by thanking everyone that has contributed to these forums. Searching here has answered many of my previous questions...until now.

Today we received out NOA2 (one of the lucky Vermont January Filers) and I am now looking at getting together the Docs required for interview. Everything seems cool except the I-134. My US Fiancee is currenly spending 4 months in the UK. She quit her job last December so she could come to Britain and use her time here to create a portfolio for when she returns to the US in June to start doing contract Graphical Design work. In summary she is currently unemployed and in limbo between future working for herself and having worked for a company in the recent past. She alone has sufficient savings to cover 5x the 2008 guidelines for a 2 person household and I will have $30,000 savings available to show but I am reading a lot of articles which put emphasis on Income. There isn't really anyone obvious who might co-sponsor us.

Has anyone been in this position before and can they advise how the London embassy will view this situation? In what has so far been a very sucessful application I can see this being the only real problem. It is likely that my interview will be before she is due to return to the US....whould it help if she attended with me to explain things? I understand that it is a possibility for her to come with me.

Looking beyond the K1 we will have to do this again for AOS. I doubt by then she will have earnt a great deal and obviously I can't work so the same problem will arise at AOS application...although I am a skilled IT worked who will probably be in well paid employment come the time of the AOS interview.
