  1. I haven't been online for a few days so I just saw this, but WOW.....It's about time something was done. LAst I read was Sara had gotten an RFE.

I'm willing to do what I can, petition signing etc. I don't know many people over here but might I suggest setting up a group on Facebook too so that all VJer's friends can see it. Maybe we can all link it to our FB profiles and then those people wo we're only semi friendly with get an opportunity to sign it to?

Did that make any kind of sense? I mean I have friends on FB purely through Mafia Wars, and I know nothing else about them, but they may be willing to help........

  2. I'm having a nightmare with USCIS at the moment. They seem to have lost my Green Card. It was ordered on January 26th, but they sent it to my old address (whicch was a PO Box)because the person I called didn't update it when I told them to. Oh and I had mail forwarding but apparently the post office wont forward government mail.........so now I have no GC. I called them last week and readvised my new address and reoopened my PO Box just in case theey screwed up and it turned up there...... and today I get a letter at MY PO BOX stating thanks for the change of address!! They STILL haven't changed it. I'm lost as to what to do next. Im frustrated and worried about where my card is.

I havent even had the welcome letter or approval notice that they say they have sent.

Any advice on what I should do next?

  3. I have been a Springsteen fan for a long time and have seen him in concert several times. The man is phenomenal. He's 59 years old and still has a ton of energy. I hope I can move around like that when i'm his age.....Oh and I recognised all the songs.

I didn't watch any of the game - I tuned in only for the half time show!

  4. I just got my EAD approval email.

How weird is this? I decided today that I would call USCIS and place a service request as it had been 77 days. I called the guy and he gave me a reference etc and told me they would look at my case on December 26th. Half an hour later, my case was approved...........

    Congratulation!!!

How come the guy on the phone told you that they will work on it on the 26th?! That's the first time I hear about someone giving you an exact date over the phone!

No idea, the guy was super nice, extremely helpful and knowledgeable. That's the first time I called USCIS and didn't get a person who sounded like a robot!

  5. This topic sucks so bad. It is like if you very lucky guys were doing a little dance front of ALL the other petitioners who are into the average waiting time 4+months. I can't even find a piece in my heart to be happy for people who got approved in 2 weeks. That is just unfair. Sorry but this conversation sucks, be happy to be extremely lucky is a thing, putting your unfair NOA2 front of our faces is just fuc*ing annoying !

I was approved in what I suppose would be considered a relatively quick space of time - 50 days. But I can see why this topic would annoy you, when you're waiting and waiting, the last thing you need to hear is how other people managed to get so much luckier than you. Trust me when I tell you that I was spitting feathers when I was waiting and people were getting approved in 2-3 weeks.

The only thing I would say is that unless you have a lot of money to fall back on, use this time to save as much cash as you can, and to spend as much time with your friends and family as you can - because when that time gets cut short, you'll miss them.

When I moved to the US, I found that I went from spending every day missing one person - my fiance (now husband) to missing everyone else in my life - parents, brother, friends etc.

Take time too enjoy these people as you will miss them more than you could realise.

That said, I wish you all speedy NOA2's

  6. Hey there! I am checking back in since we are back involved with USCIS with our I-751 and we are just checking in with everyone. I noticed a lot of UK folks in Orlando.

Yep, I was hoping to organise a meet up but I haven't gotten around to it yet. I'm about 45 minutes outside of Orlando, in Haines City.

  7. Now, I moved out and shacked up with my coworker, it was an office an affair. :bonk: Can we live together if I am not formally divorced yet? How will that affect my GC and ability to remove conditions from residency? Is Adultery cause for being deported?

My husband is not aware of the fact i have been with my co worker for over a year. He travels to Iraq often for DOS. But what happens now? Can he remove the support from my application? He has filed for seperation and I signed. :crying:

Lesson learned, dont leave half naked pics of boyfriend and yourself on your family computer. Same goes for intimate emails and naughty text messages. God I hate online access to the phone bills. He figured it out all the way from IRaq by looking at his phone bill.

What can he do to my immigration status at this point? Please help? Yikes? Should I try returning to my husband? Its an uncontested divorce, so it should be finalized soon. But again, what happens to my status? :help:

Sorry, you should have thought about that before breaking your husband's heart and putting yourself in this mess.

    Go figure.

How was I supposed to know he was going to be looking at the cell bill all the way at his base in Iraq? He found all the late night phone calls and text messages. He returned home and wanted to forgive me but he I only told him it was just friendship. I had no idea it was going to get that far with the coworker. No idea. I did receive a letter few weeks ago stating that my removing conditions for residence was declined if I can't provide info that it was not ?fraudulent? marriage. Is it considered fraudulent if i am moved out to coworkers townhome? The letter is confusing, I submitted my conditions to remove stipulations on residence in April. I think? But now this letter says that I would have to prove it was not a fraudulent marriage by 15th Nov. by providing bank statements, utility bills and joint tnancy contracts. I closed the only joint account about a month ago. no utility bills we lived in his family's home. What do i do? OOOOOOOOh god this is so confusing.

I doubt you COULD prove it wasn't fraudulent. It shouldnt matter whether he looks at your cell bill or not. You're lucky he WANTED to forgive you - i wouldnt have!

  8. I make no apologies for what i am about to say: cheating on a partner is abhorrent. If you used him to get a GC then you disgust me. If you genuinely loved him and then decided to just cheat on him, then you disgust me.

To then come onto a forum full of people who are genuinely trying to be with the ones they love - some of whom haven't been with their SO's for prolonged periods of time - and brag about what you have done whilst asking for advice on how you can keep you GC? Ugh.....words fail me at the levels you'd stoop to.

Legally you may not have broken the law - but do you have no morals?

*stepping down from soap box now*

 <--because there is no smiley that claps lol

I usually try not to let these posts get a rise out of me - but i'm afraid I took the bait with this.

  10. I am in Florida and I am from the UK. I drove on my UK licence for 30 days (which is all you are legally allowed if you not considered a visitor - if you live here, 30 days is all you have). Before my UK licence validity expired I made an appointment at DMV and took the written test. You can take this twice a day and as many times as you need until you pass it. It costs either $5 or $10 to repeat the test, but the first one is free.

Once you pass this you can take the driving test - which is ridiculously easy. I stressed myself out worrying about it, but it lasted about 5 minutes and I passed without any problem at all.

The licence they gave me cost $20, and was valid until the end of my I94 (so technically I had a 2 month licence) as soon as I got married and got my NOA1 for AOS, I took it into the DMV and they renewed my licence for a year. If you're changing your name as a result of the marriage, don't forget to take in your marriage certificate too, and they will do the name change at the same time. Each time you get a new licence, they charge you $20 so it's better to do both at the same time.

The licence I have now is valid until October 2009. Once Ihave my green card, i'll go and renew it again.....

    I hope this helps

  11. I am hoping someonee here can advice me how to proceed here as I am in a sticky situation.

I left the UK in July, and left my former employers at the end of June. I worked for a small recruitment company, and at the time I left I was waiting on a small amount of commision to be paid to me based on a lady I got a job offer for.

The company directors agreed that they would pay me the commission in 3 installments. The first would be 350 pounds, at the end of September, followed by two equal payments of 175 pounds each at the end of October and November.

The reason for them doing it this way was to ensure that is the lady left the job within the first two weeks (She started at the end of August) then they wouldn't be able to invoice the client, and therefore I would not recieve my commision. The company ha a two week safety net in place for clients that stated if the person we placed with them left within the first two weeks, they wouldn't have to pay us - despite how much work had gone into finding that person for them.

So, 4 weeks after the lady started work, I got my payment of 350 pounds. All seemed well. I was looking forward to getting paid a little bit at the end of this month, when I got an email from my old boss last Monday. He said that the lady had actually left within the first two weeks, but they hadn't picked up on it - and therefore they were asking for thier money back.

As you can imagine - I no longer have the money to give them....it got spent pretty fast what with all the AOS costs etc.

So, I emailed then and asked them to release my P45 (Tax statement) to my dads house and said that once I had it, I would file for my tax refund, and would pay them back from this money.

Considering it was their mistake in paying me two weeks AFTER the lady left the job, I thought I was being more that reasonable even agreeing to pay them back at all.

There response was to tell me that they wont release my P45 until I have repayed them in full, and they are being ratheer threatening about it.

We simply don't have the money to pay them back - and my tax refund would be about 1000 pounds, more than enough to pay them.

Inland revenue said that they are legally not able to withold my P45 and they will get involved if necessary, and ACAS have told me that they should provide me with proof that I actually owe this money, ratheer than a mere emailing just 'saying so'.....

They don't have my address here in the US, and I am reluctant to give it to them, not because I refuse to pay, but because I am (at the moment) unable to.....and I don't know if i actually should.

    What do you all think?

Oh, and they didn't provide me with any kind of pay slip for the money they paid into my account, so I have no idea how it affected my taxes.......they said they don't need to give one????

    I'm confused and fed up!

  12. Since you're not amazingly far away and I think there are others around from thr Orlando area, maybe we should try and arrange a VJ meet up. What do you think?

There are quite a few of us around I think...I am in Satellite Beach :D

I'm working on setting something up for a meet up.

I was thinking maybe we could meet up at Downtown Disney.....How does that sound to people?

The first few years here there were a variety of things I missed but now I would say having just one decent supermarket whatever it is would be at the top of my list. Oh, and somewhere nice to buy clothes. I still can't find good looking, well made clothes and always shop back in the UK.

Yeah I haven't found any clothes I like yet! But since I enjoy shopping i'll just keep on looking....

    :dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance:

He called and it was really loud in the background and he sounded down....I was like how are you.....then he said "Ok you?" ughhh "Yes bear I am fine, how are YOU?" PAUSE....."Well I guess you better bloody order my new monitor!" (he has a brand new tower he got built that has been here since January so he wants a computer monitor to be waiting for him so he can set it up the first day he is here while I am at work LOL). He said he wants to set it all up set it to do updates then not get on the thing for a long time! haha we are so sick of computers!

I asked him what they asked him and he said just "When was the last time you saw one another?" and "Have you visited one another any other times besides the time being turned away?" then she said "well hopefully this visit to the second room will go much smoother than last time!"

He said he spoke with her for about 1 minute it felt like and then he was off paying for stuff.

He did say he had to pay a fiver to get his phone looked after as they let these in last time and this time they didn't....

I will get more info from him when he is home and rested he said he did not sleep well last night at all in this basement tiny tiny tiny hotel room haha!
