I hadn't been on here for a while and am amazed how so many
people now have their green cards.
It's beautiful!

It's February 12th and we got the best Valentine's Day present!
Ahmed's 2 year green card arrived today!! That took 4 and a half months which is a miracle to us compared
to the K-1 ordeal.
It is issued on the day of our approval which was at the interview on Jan 26th.
That took 18 total days or 2 and half working weeks from interview to green card arrival for anyone
who wants to know.
So at the end of 2010, I guess everyone starts applying for the 10 year card.
Are we all going to meet on here again?

Yes, we did not get a stamp either, she did ask if we have got our EAD yet and the irony is that we had just got it in the mail the day before the interview so I could have said we haven't got it in the mail yet but I had it with me and so I gave it to here. She didn't even ask for the AP but I said that I got those as well and so she said that if she may see them. So she didn't like take them but she didn't give em back as well so when we left I was so happy that we were approved that I forgot to ask to have the EAD back incase I get a job in the next week or so................until we get the green card,
what can I show when I get a job offer? for proof of work permit?

She asked to see the AP and the EAD document and then either made copies or something? But I do know she
handed them back to us. We had made copies of these documents just in case she took them.
Did you make a copy of it before you went? It is always good to make copies of EVERYTHING to be safe.
It sounds like every interview officer is a little different.
And I don't think that they put the stamp in the passports anymore.......that I-551 that everyone asks about.
I think that was an old procedure that isn't necessary anymore.
I keep hoping we'll get the greencard this week..........

I just want to ask my fellow VJyers here.
I am scheduled to have the interview on March 11 of this year. However I just renewed my passport because it will expire on April. I will have the new passport by the end of March.
My question is-- Is it ok to bring my old passport (with the holes since its no longer valid) or do I have to call to re schedule the interview?
For those who had their interview done. Did the Immigration Officer looked for the passport? Do we have to submit it like when we had the K1 interview?
I also know that their will be a I-551 stamp. Is it really necessary?
I will really appreciate whoever can enlighten me with these queries.

No stamp in the passport.
They do ask to look at your passport. We brought mine and his.

We did not get the stamp in the passport and they did not take our EAD and AP papers, just
asked to see them.
Were were approved at the interview on Jan 26th but still don't have the greencard yet.
Maybe we will for Valentines Day!!

I think that once you have an interview date, then you will be approved that day. It's like
having an approval day with green card ordered.
I thought the people without interviews were to get their green cards quicker?
I wonder what is happening. That must be frustrating.

We just got an email saying the green card has been ordered and it should arrive within 3 weeks.
Hopefully it will be within 2 weeks!

Its sad and i hope you both have the strength to cope like you have, hopefully you ll be done with the interivew and everything comes at same time.
Dont worry too much, some of us with EAD'S are still struggling with this drowning economy.... yet to find a job, now i ask myself, if i knew it was going to be this hard.. i would have relaxed more without worrying for the EAD, but you know how it is...we are at their mercy, what i pray for is that they get it done quickly so we can move on with our lives...without them looming in the dark or giving us nightmares!

Ahmed got a job too last week and has another interview today!!
Things are all happening at once!
Everybody will get approved eventually....it just takes time.
We started the K-1 in June 2007........so you can see it takes a longgggggggggggggggg time.
We never thought that we would get the K-1 visa!! That took FOREVER when everyone else was getting
theirs quickly.
I was so miserable then, especially when things speeded up soon after that for K-1's.
We had filed before the fees went up in July 2007 and there was a flood of applications, thus slowing the whole process.
Anyway,
The chart looks beautiful Envyme!!

Hello All,
I fellow filers, I have been away for a while so I thought I congratulate everyone with all their approvals. I am so happy for all of you and I am so glad the process is finally over for some of you and for those still waiting, your time will come as well. As for us, our interview is on feb. 10 so just another week or so to go. It was great to hear your interview experiences, it will help a lot of us out to how we should prepare and what we should have with us.
I have a question for those that went to the interview. Did you guys have to provide any affidavits from friends or family? Also I know they are suppose to stamp your passport when you get approved and I read that they did not stamp Ahmed's passport, am I right? Are they suppose to stamp it or it doesn't really matter.
Anyways, it has been really tough for us as we never got our EAD and well I gave up because our interview is so close. As I posted before, i did the ombudsman thing and all the service requests just to get a RFE just a few weeks before my interview so I sent what they were asking for and just waiting for the interview. This wait has been nothing like I have experienced and I don't wish this on anyone. I think, they should allow people to work while they wait because then the wait would not be as bad because they are busy with their jobs and careers.
I will keep you guys posted.

I am sooooooooooooooooo relieved that ours is over. I feel thankful every day.
Now, do we apply 2 years after we are approved on the 26th or 2 years after we actually get the greencard in the mail?

Okay then,
since there are 3 of you who would like to hear the details of the interview questions, then I am motivated now.
I can't leave you three hanging. The lady in the lobby at the reception desk on the second floor took
our interview letter. We had to go through security on the first floor before we could enter the building. He wanted
our passports or drivers license plus interview letter.
Here are some of the questions:
First she made us take an oath to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.
She began by asking for our passports, drivers licenses, evidence of joint accounts, birth certificates with any necessary certified translation, his EAD card, AP documents, etc. She returned his EAD card and AP documents after making copies.
Ahmed got asked his full name and his birth date to start. She asked him our address. Then he was asked what day he entered the USA. She asked if he had traveled outside of the US yet on the Advanced Parole.
I got into one of the coughing fits from a cold and had to leave to the restroom crying. By the time
I came back, he had been asked more questions, like was he a terrorist or plan on being a terrorist. Later, he told me that she asked me some of the same questions once I returned from the bathroom as he was asked. I guess
to see if we were both telling the truth. After just one minute, I started another coughing fit and had to leave. I couldn't believe it!! Each time I had to leave a locked door to make it the water fountain and restroom. Then, I returned again and was able to make it through the rest of the 40 minute interview without another coughing fit. She asked us how we
met and when did I go to Egypt for the first time. She asked when Ahmed proposed to me. She asked us the date of our wedding and who were the people that attended, their exact names. She asked where the reception was afterwards.
She also asked where we got married. She asked us if Ahmed's parents knew we got married and had I met
his parents, which I haven't. Then, she wanted to know why. She wanted to know if Ahmed had met my parents
and when and how that went.
She wanted to know how we handled our age difference even though she felt it was not a problem.
She wanted to know if Ahmed was working and where, also what his job was exactly.
She ended up being from my home town and we connected on that level, discussing the difference between
California and the South.
She wanted to know if Ahmed was planning on going back to Egypt and when.
She then asked for our two picture albums and asked if she could keep some of the pictures. She took six. Three of before our marriage which were two with me in a hijab and one of us before the Sakarrah step pyramid, one of Ahmed with my family, one
of everyone at our wedding party, and one of our wedding. She also asked if she could keep the evidence of
all our joint documents, like bank account,cell phone bill, power bill, trash bill, credit card bill, comcast bill, etc.
She asked how we handled being from different religions.
Then, she left the room for a while. When she came back, she handed us the approval letter and said you are approved.
She told Ahmed to take good care of me, and that she and I were sisters, both being from the South.
I told her that I would shake her hand if I wasn't sick with this cold and she said that's okay, that she didn't want my "koodies".
She was super nice and made us feel totally comfortable, even though we were very nervous.
We just told the truth about everything and tried to not tell too many details, just short and sweet. I was afraid
to talk too much anyway because of my throat and getting another coughing fit.
She did not stamp his passport, just removed the I-94 card.
If I think of anything else, then I will come back and add it. Hope this helps others in their interviews in the next
2 months. It was helpful reading other people's posts of their interviews and helped prepare us for ours.
I forgot to add that we also gave her our car insurance papers with both of us as operators.
Also, I read a post today with people speculating as to why some get interviewed and maybe our application
wasn't as complete as others who don't get interviewed. We got no RFE's and didn't have a lawyer and felt the application was very complete.
I really think it is random as to who gets an interview and who doesn't, unless it was our age difference?
Anyway, who can predict what they are thinking. One can speculate all day. It's difficult to ascertain.

Envy me, we were approved today after our interview so you can put an "A" in the AOS column.
They said greencard within 30 days.
If people seem interested in the questions that were asked then I can post them.

I am still with this awful cold.

a FRIEND did this and did nothing.......and hegot his green card just fine.
I wouldn't do anything at this point.
This morning Damon and I did our favorite acivity these days: calling USCIS!!!!Their website is still locked for me...and of course at the same time I asked them to check on my status. Nothing new on my EAD, but she told us that our AOS had been recently sent to my local office! youhooou! I hope they will start working on my application soon!
Maybe that's why everybody 's been touched yesterday, they sent all our applications to local offices!
P.S. Am I the last one still waiting for EAD approval or what?!

And I learned that I wrote the wrong codes on my 765 application.
Yeaaah! We are the biggest loser of the year! lol
What code are you talking about? C(9)?
Did you put a service request? did you hear anything from them since it's been more than 90 days? Did you get a letter or sth?
Yes the C(9) code, don't know where my head was, but I put down a(6)
I put in a service request after 90 days when they received my AOS package.
Which all that happens then it seems, is they give you a long number....
Then I had an infopass appointment in the end of December.
All he told me, was that I had to wait 90 days from when the USCIS received my RFE.
And next week will be 90 days from that.
And he also said I had filled in the wrong code....so I am worried.
Can we believe that the USCIS are able so figure out which code I should have put and correct it ( I am worried that might be to much to ask
), or will they send me another RFE???

We got our greencard today!!! The same day as our approval notice!!
And Ahmed is from Egypt and Mubarak stepped down today so he is so happy times two!!
