  1. got my SSC a week after I applied...it still amazes me how fast we've been able to get everything in order (from NVC, etc)...just waiting for my driving skills test appointment now

Good luck and I hope everything goes well for you too!

  2. I know what you mean. There is too much colonial mentality in the Philippines. Just look at those people who make fun of Manny Pacquiao or ERAP because he speaks carabao english. All I can say to those people is, "what do you expect? They're not American or British."

I've lived in Japan, and in Japan they don't care if they make mistake on speaking or writing English. Why? Because it's not there own language. In fact Japanese don't even want to speak English.

Oh BTW, in America if the person you're talking to don't understand you, he'll raise his voice and say, "DO YOU SPEAK ENGLISH?"

Excuse my ignorance, but I am a Filipino. I do not have an American tongue. Please do not expect Filipinos to be experts in English, like we do not expect Americans to be experts in the Pilipino language.

Sad to say, compared to foreigners, Filipinos are more meticulous with grammar, syntax, pronunciation, articulation, elocution, intonation, enunciation, diction and whatever other "tion" there is.

I am sure all of us have gone through elementary, highschool, college and even in the workforce where a single mispronounced word would surely precede snickering from those around you (teacher lang ata di tatawa). And there are even cruel people who just can't let go immediately and would even tease you mercilessly till you turn red and teary eyed. GEE, i could just smile remembering my NOSE BLEEDING moments especially in high school and college.

i still have occasional "bisayan tongue" slip.. only "occasional" slip becoz i try to avoid speaking in english when im talking with a filipino.. mahirap na dudugo lang ilong ko so, i'd rather reserve all the english i picked on the street for my fiance.

Ako ay BISDAK na may sariling wika! VIVA BISAYA!!!

  4. are there any other fees during the interview other than the vis delivery fee because people at my wife college(LPC) where she teaches keep telling her that they charge a $100 fee for the Consulate. we already paying the document verification ahead of time. i think half the people there are uninformed and that there trying to mislead her (they even tried told her the ds 230 form was wrong the one from the website the nvc sends you.) please note we are cr1 visa not a k visa

also her interview is April 9th which is Bataan Day and sometimes president Arroyo declares it a national holiday should i ask about another date or do you think it will be ok?

I wasn't asked to pay any additional fees during my interview; not even for visa delivery since I requested for visa pick-up. Also, there's no harm in calling the USE to confirm if April 9th is a holiday or even to ask for another date (hopefully an earlier appointment).

    Good luck!

  5. You may contact DELBROS at (632) 339-2761 ext. 153 and look for Allen. Apparently, she's only available to take calls from Monday to Friday, 8:00AM to 5:00PM.

In my case, I paid the document verification fee on Feb. 7 and got text confirmations the same day. I called DELBROS the day before my interview and was told that the verification request was forwarded to NSO on Feb. 11.

Hoping that our visas will be released soon.

  6. I'm sorry for the delay of your interview schedule. I was lucky my case was completed Jan. 16, 2008 and got an interview of Feb. 19. God willing both of you will get an interview sched soon.

  7. I stayed overnight in Bayview as well...woke up at 4am and when I got to the embassy grounds at 5:45, it was already packed! The interview was a breeze...the CO didn't even look at the wedding album nor the cards/letters, etc. She only asked questions to verify the data in the DS230 and said “Welcome to America!” :D

I only need to wait a few more days to pick-up my visa then off to the US to be with my sweetie!

    Good luck!

  8. It's frustrating waiting something from NVC. Sometimes you'll think they are not being fair to everybody. Anyway, I think both of you will still be in for March '08 interview.

  9. I'll call everyday if I were you.

  10. ^^^Safety standards determined by who????? Don't you know that Philippine Airlines uses American & European made airplanes (Boeing & Airbus)? Also, PAL's aircrafts are maintained by Lufthansa. If PAL is unsafe then all airlines that uses BOIENG & AIRBUS airplanes are also unsafe.

Read my post carefully. My post does not condemn PAL nor make any negative statement towards the airline. I'm merely distinguishing between safe airline practices (that may or may not include oversight) as opposed to free gifts in determining the safety of ANY airline. I never said PAL was unsafe. :)

    Glad you clarified! :)

I guess some people here were just shooting their mouth.

It's deficiencies in the Philippine Govt oversight of Airline Safety that is the problem. that doesn't mean Philippine Airlines is operating unsafe aircraft.

This advisory is referring directly to the Phils. Govt standards in oversight of their airlines. I seriouly doubt PA has changed any policies recently on how they maintain their planes. So I'm plenty confident flying Philippine airlines anytime any place

    Agree.

Some Filipinos who lived in the US tend to be OA sometime. I don't mind anyways, it's their life. :)

BTW, I miss balut, manga na may bagoong, sinigang, atbp...

  14. Philippine Airlines is the best airline in the world!

Take Philippine Airlines (PAL), KAPUSO na KAPAMILYA pa!

    1. Good food

    2. More give aways (Playing Cards, toothbrush, toothpaste etc)

    3. Friendly flight attendants

    Other Airlines

    1. I don't like the food

    2. No give aways

    3. Unfriendly flight attendants
