  1. in case anyone else runs into this problem... the embassy finally emailed us back after our 3rd attempt... since my fiancé was originally planning on coming to the us in July and stated so on the checklist... the embassy said they weren’t going to schedule an interview until June... i guess they think that is enough time for friends/family to make travel arrangements, for my fiancé to give his work notice of his resignation, and for us to plan a wedding...

    hopes this helps someone else...

  2. i'm wondering if anyone can help with some advice.

we sent in our completed packet 3 on march 6th overnight... we have called the embassy several times and they just say that it is in process. i've called the department of state and they say that it is in process... we've tried emailing them but there is in response...

they told us last week that we could call back today since it will have been 1 month. we called today and they told my fiance that it is possible we are missing our checklist. i called the department of state and they said there are no notes that we are missing anything.... help!! we sent everything in we needed to but if we are missing something, i'd like to know so we can just resend it and get our interview date... can anyone give some advice? it is frustrating because people who have sent in their packet 3 after us already have interview dates.

  3. mine took about four weeks, between sending back Packet 3 and getting a date in Packet 4... I had about five days' notice for my actual interview, from the letter, but my fiance had called the Department of State in the US and so we actually found out the date a couple of days earlier ;)

what number can i use to call the department of state in the us? we emailed the london embassy about an update and have not heard anything back. anyone know the timeframe for a response? thanks.

  4. hello all,

my fiance just received his packet 3 and we are working on getting it sent back in. my fiance and i met back in 2005 and had a long distance relationship for about 1 year. then he came to the united states on a vistor's visa. while he was out here we decided that we wanted to continue our relationship but were not ready to get married, so he applied for school and was accepted. when he went back to the uk for his student visa interview he was declined because he was not able to apply to show significant ties to the uk and the embassy officer said that he was applying for the wrong visa.

i am wondering if anyone has gone through this situation. i dont want this to hurt our approval of our fiance visa.

  5. Besides the I-134 form itself, what else has to be notarized that is to be included with the I-134? I read that you need a notarized copy of your latest federal tax returns. Does this mean a notary signs and stamps a copy of your returns? Or does this mean that the copies must come from an IRS 4506-T form?

I just don't understand how a copy of a federal tax return can be offically notarized :help:

No need to notarize tax returns, just the I-134. I suggest you obtain free "IRS transcrpts" instead of using a copy of the return. If you use a return, please remember the return includes all supporting documentation and schedules including the W2's and 1099's to support the income claims. Transcripts stand alone as supporting evidence to the affidavit.

how do you request an irs transcript? thanks.

http://www.irs.gov/faqs/faq1-6.html and look for the Form 4506-T

Or simply google "IRS transcript" or "Tax Transcript". Google is your friend. Online request take about a week. Otherwise, simply call the IRS main number and request them to be faxed.

Easy to do it over the phone, too (and they are friendly). I got my 2007's already. Here's the link you want. http://www.irs.gov/individuals/article/0,,id=110571,00.html

thanks all! i have a job letter, pay stubs, and savings account letter... do i really need a transcript or do you think i could get by w/o it... thanks.

  7. I-134, question 7.

my job and my savings should well cover the minimum requirements. should i still fill out the personal property and stocks/bonds line? i'm not sure how much i have in personal property and i dont have any stocks/bonds unless you count my ira and 401k...

someone please let me know if i should fill out or if i can leave blank... thanks!!

If it were me, Id keep it simple. If you're beating the goal with job and savings, leave it at that. I didnt even bother to claim personal property because it was getting too complicated and wasnt really needed.

    thank you!!!

  8. Hello Alll VJMers!!!

I have been reading alot of threads lately about k-1 september filers getting their noa2. I filed Sept. 23 so I am really hoping I might be getting news in the next few weeks. Should I be getting excited or is there any reason for a longer wait period. The members who got their noa2 filed 2 weeks ahead of me and got their noa2 on Monday 4th.. I am again just curious and wonder if there is a science to all of this. As of yet I had no touches or emails sent to me by the USIC's so I dont know what to expect...

    regina

hang in there!!! i saw many sept filers get their noa2 and i was an august filer... it will come soon! they touched our application on 2/7 and approved it the same day so there is hope!! good luck

  10. yea... just ask yourself, would you rather take the time to explain to the HR lady, or get an RFE and add another couple of months to the process? i keep almost getting sloppy with forms and add-ons, and then i ask myself...spend an hour now, or wait an extra 2 months cuz i was lazy?

    got it... thanks!

  11. i have a job letter from august 2007 and recent paystubs... will this be sufficient for the 1-134 or do i need to get a more recent job letter? i'm just wondering becasue i dont want to keep bugging my HR lady--i dont want her thinking that i'm looking for a job elsewhere... thanks.

  12. We received the NOA1 on August 1, 2007 and it's now past six months (185 days) since we've heard anything else. I see on the site that the CSC's average time between the NOA1 and NOA2 is 138 days. There is no change on UCSIS web site when I check it.

Should I be very alarmed? I'm worried and so is my fiance. What can we do next?

no i dont think so. you got your application in right around the fee change... i think you can contact the uscis 30 days after what their processing times show..

    http://www.uscis.gov/files/article/f_english.pdf

  13. i also suspect that they favor the later filers who submitted the materials AFTER the fee increase. Seen people who filed in august and september got their NOA2s as early as in november.

the timeline don't mean squat. according to the timeline, we were supposed to get our noa2 by christmas. but it is almost valentines day, and we are still waiting for the noa2.
The only thing that can give you an idea is the stats provided by the timelines. NO ONE HAS A CRYSTAL BALL, and can pull an answer out if the air and tell you when to expect NOA2. All we have is the statistics provided by the timelines.

It has been reported that because USCIS raised the fees charged last summer, for example they got as many naturalization petitions filed in 2007 as they got filed in 2005 and 2006 combined, the same happened with all other filings, this has causes a tremendous back-log that we wont see letting up for quite some time.

well, i filed in august (after the fee increase) and my fiance is from england (hopefully not a high fraud country) and nobody has touched our application since sept 14th... so i think that the uscis does what they want and we cant say or do much about it!! i hope it comes soon though, i want to start our wedding plans!!
