  1. You can use the new case number assigned by the NVC and send an e-mail to the consulate in Uruguary. They usually process incoming files from the NVC within 4-6 weeks. The consulate sends the package to your spouse, but it is also ok for the spouse to go pick up the package in some consulates, not all.

Yeah, this is effectively what I did... terrible service though:

"Consular section only open Mon-Thurs from 12:00 to 1:30PM"... what a joke

I'm not completely freaked out if the letter doesn't come... but still shocked by the incompetence of the Embassy/Consulate.

  2. So here's my question: how long does the appointment letter take for the beneficiary to receive?

Its been just short of 4 weeks since the date on the letter I (petitioner) have received, and my wife's heard nothing from the embassy yet.

I'm not too worried, as I scanned my letter and emailed it to her, and also sent her copies of the embassy specific interview information (interview instructions, medical) so we're taking the neccessary steps... just have the jitters, i guess...

    Thanks

  3. So, i called in today to see if my I-864 was accepted and the lady said yes, it was fine.

Just FYI to everyone... the "required" 3 years of 1040's and W-2 is subjective - i sent in the I-864EZ with only my 2007 tax info + employer letter + paystubs, and it was fine [as it states in the I-864 documentation] - to be perfectly honest, i think it only matters if you don't make enough to be able to provide support... I guess, anyone with a decent salary should be fine.

[i for one could not find my 2005 W-2's, which is why I decided to wing it with only 2007 paperwork]

    Hope this helps!

    Cheers,

    Santiago
