  1. Hi~

We all know that buying a return ticket is a lot cheaper than a one-way but now my fiance has heard if you don't use the second half of the ticket sometimes the airlines blacklist you. Has anyone heard that or had any experience with that? I don't see how it would be a big deal but it seems the airlines make all kinds of crazy rules these days.

    Thanks

  2. Hi~

Scott just had his interview in June and all they asked for was the I-134, letter from employer, and my previous years tax returns. Then 5 minutes later he was swearing info was correct and was approved!

He ended up going home with a folder of paperwork but if he didn't have it they would have asked.

    Good Luck!

  3. Hi Everyone~

Scott had his interview today and we are officially approved!

He had an 8:00 appointment and was on his way back home at 8:51! All they asked for were the I-134, my 2007 tax return, letter from employer, police cert, and birth certificate. Then they asked him how many times we had been back and forth to see each other, why we chose the US to live and then asked him to raise his hand and swear info was correct and said You are approved! That was it. He agrees with one of the other posters that it is very strange...seems like so much involved to get to that point and no bells or whistles go off! Oh well I guess it's not Vegas.

    Good Luck to everyone else!

  4. Welcome to Orlando! You are just in time for the start of hurricane season and the horrible heat! Oh well at least no more rainy England--Poor Scott got rained out of his car races he wanted to attend tomorrow. I love it here and you will eventually adjust to the heat--just do any outdoor errand before 11 and after 6pm and wear lots of sunscreen.

    Congrats

  5. Hey Everyone!

I just wanted to let you know that we received our notive on May 16th and have the interview for June 6th! I'm not worried seeing all the success stories on here so now we just have to wait for the house to sell and he will be here!

I am going crazy trying to get a wedding put together without dates yet! Luckily we picked an all inclusive company that will do them on short notice. It's cool you take their sailboat to an island and they marry you, then you have a huge barbeque that they set up, and they bring you back to shore and your done! His sister and family will be coming over to America for the first time so we figure it will be a fun way to get our families together and have a mini vacation together. I can't wait!

Thanks and I hope everyone gets speedy results!!!

  6. Hello~

My friend is head of immigration at Sanford Airport. Last time friends visited he met them at the plane and walked them through! Now I know you won't be lucky enough to get that treatment but that airport handles all the charter flights into Orlando so they know well how to handle the visas!

Best of Luck and if you have any problems let me know and I'll report back to him!

  7. Hello~

Just curious how long does it take from when the embassy receives the packet 3 to when you are notified of the interview date. Do they send it back as part of packet 4? It just seems as if the closer to the end the longer it seems to be taking! Scott already had his medical and all we are waiting for is his interview.

    Thanks for reading!

  8. If you have a frequent flier account with the airline you flew on you can log into your account and print your travel history. That is what I was able to do. It's free to sign up and I figured it takes a bunch of miles to qualify for anything but you never know when they would come in handy.

    Good Luck!

  9. I'm lucky enough to live in Orlando and with all the tourists in the area you can find anything so there a few shops where you can find it. (In fact a new Irish pub just opened up--stincks though cause the owner wants to keep the younger crowd out so charges outrageous prices.) Our local grocery store even has a little british food section now. Try an ethnic or indian shop if you have any near you. My friend gets all her spices there and says they carry a ton of english food.

    Good Luck

  10. Thanks for the info! I looked up on BA and they will fly them as cargo which might be a little easier than in plane. I could just picture him meowing and driving everyone crazy. It seems a lot easier than years ago when you had to quarantine your pets for soooo long!

    Thanks again guys!

  11. Hi~

I just got back from a 10 day trip to see my sweetie! While there he had his medical which went smoothly.

We now have a dilemna --his mother passed away recently and we were sitting there one night wondering what to do with Whisper the cat now. We really don't want to give him away and his sister has a cat already and they don't get along. So my question is has anyone brought a pet with them and what was involved in the process. I've looked up on the US Customs website and it seems straightforward as long as he has his shots and is healthy. I just wanted to get an idea of how to travel with them, etc...

    Thanks

  12. Hello~

Just double checking myself--When filling out the DS-156K form it asks for proof of engagement. We have decided not to purchase rings until we are together in the US so is proof of the ongoing relationship sufficient. I know we are paranoid but this process is so overwhelming! We have each also typed out letters of our intent to marry so I figure between that, emails, photos, and phone records we should be ok--Are we correct?

    Thanks

  13. Hey~

I'm in Orlando too--it looks like there are a few of us here!

Do not wear heels! The walk from the gates to immigration takes forever and from past experience is not fun in heels! If you are a bit of a fashionista like me and want to look perfect walking through the doors at arrivals pack them in your carry on and change while waiting for your luggage! :)

Make sure when the flight attendents come around handing out immigration cards (also called landing cards) get one and fill it out on the plane--then you can just pop into line. Just pray you are the only plane scheduled--last time I flew 3 planes got in at the same time--it took forever!!

I agree take your own headphones--the airline ones never work.

Sign up for the frequent flier program--I just used my miles for a ticket next month. I got a British Airways credit card and use it for everything so I was able to rack up points fast. Hint--use it to pay your bills then transfer one payment to your credit card instead of paying each bill individually. I just saved $1000 bucks by doing that. I have to wait until April 9 to leave though.

Pack a heavy coat--it was just snowing over there!

Good Luck and have a great time!

  14. If you go to Vitalcheck.com you can order an official copy of your birth certificate from most states. I received mine in about 5 days. I figured it was well worth the $29.95 and didn't want to risk the chance of a RFE. Everywhere I've read says to send the original.

    Good Luck

  15. Hello~

Is there a way to get the tracking number from the NVC to determine if the package sent was ours? Or are we just guessing which package is ours? I called the NVC and they confirmed they had received it but that was all the info they would give me and I emailed them and all I got was an automated response saying it would be answered in the order received.

Thanks--just trying to find out the tricks around here!

PS thanks for all the work compiling these lists! You are awesome.

  16. Hi~

I am putting my K-1 visa package together and have a question. I am enclosing copies of my phone bills to prove we communicate regularly and is a bill from every 3 to 6 months sufficient or should I include every month? Each bill is about 7 pages and to send one from each month just seems like overkill or should I send too much info?

Thanks in advance! I stumbled across this website tonight and have found so much of the info helpful!
