I say absolutely no, you just have no idea when you'll be approved could be early, could be late it's too tricky. There are several other options such as Wedding Chapel etc. What we decided was to get married outdoors in the Town Square all we had to do was fill in a form for the Twon Council, go to the next meeting and meet the Councillors and that was that. We found:

1. There are lots of companys out there with everything you could ever want for Wedding accessories, Chairs, Arobrs, Columns, Arches etc they set it all up and took it all down at no extra cost.

2. The reception was easy, we got agreement from a local restaurant right off the square for the reception they were only too happy to have lots of people mid-afternoon.

3. Everyone loved it, people from the shops around the square were out watching the wedding, there was even a bit in the local paper.

4. We chose our own minister, an old Family friend of my wifes to perform the service.

You can go as grand or as simple as you want, we could have had it at any number of places here in Georgia outdoors, we could even had had it in our front yard, it'll even save you some money it did us it. It also gets you known by a lot of local people and local businesses which is never a bad thing.

So I am sure that there are a million other threads on this subject, however...........

I just went to get my SSN sorted at the Walnut Creek office in California. The lady there was very helpful, very pleasant and went through everything with me patiently and slowly. I decided to try my luck and ask about working, and she said, and I quote "as soon as you have your number, with your passport and visa that you have here, you're good to go". I asked if she was sure about a dozen times and she was adamant that I can work as soon as the SSN arrives in 2 weeks, or if I need it before I can go and get a print out from them. I even asked about temporary EAD's and gave here a million and one get out routes, but none were needed.

And that's that.

Am now completely confuzzled.

As far as I am aware, unless things have changed, you need an EAD, the previous poster is spot on with the comment about who you are applying too Social Security Office or USCIS!

Its a complete pain in the butt, my mom's was mayor of Newhaven and both her and my dad were local and district councillor's and when even they had trouble getting the information and documentation straight I decided never to bother again. You are right they make it so difficult and I believe they do that on purpose to keep the numbers down.

Yes they do, they also take your Residents Card back at that time, so please don't arrange to go out of the country until you have your new passport, unless you make an appointment at a Passport Office it will be something like 3 - 6 weeks for a passport. Someone at our ceremony was in all sorts of problems because they were due to leave the country in 2-3 days, but hadn't realised they'd take their residents card back. Also remember to go to your local Social Security Office and register to vote.

Had my interview on May 19th and got same day ceremony, sorry to rain on your parade a little here but if your interview is at 1.30 I don't think you will get same day ceremony. As I understand it all cermonys at Atlanta office are at 2.00pm and I can't see you getting your inteview (even if it's on time) completed and then the paperwork goes to another Dept on the floor below who then call you to tell you if you have been accepted.

Don't know if anyone else has had this but my express Mail package sent on 01/07/2009 was forwarded by the USPS to the new lockbox address automatically but apparently nobody ever picked it up from that lockbox and it is being returned to me. Has anyone else had this happen?

Just wondering if anyone has an idea how long this takes in Atlanta, I have heard so many different story's I filed mine yesterday. A guy I work with filed in March 2008 and was granted his Citizenship last month, however one of his Wifes friends apparently filed in late August and was granetd hers only a week afterwards!!

If anyone has an idea about whats going on and how long I would appreciate it.

I have just logged onto my account on USCIS and notice that although no update in the body of the text there is a line towards the top that says " Approval Notice Sent" please tell me this is what I think it is after waiting since January.........................Thanks...Paul

Looks like they've sent you a letter approving your petition. The USCIS has been having big problems with the online update system, so you can disregard the rest of the account information. If you don't get the NOA2 in a week, call them and ask about it. Good luck!

I filed my I-751 with a receipt date of January 9th 2008, had my biometrics completed in Atlanta last week, when I go to look up the status of my case I get the reply case not found, is this normal? When can I expect to see it on-line? Is there anything else to do?

Once your file is transferred, the CSC will arrange for your biometrics appointment ... you have to wait for their letter with your appointment schedule.

The fees went up around July 1, 2007 resulting in the total $545 ($80 biometrics and $465 for petition). I am not aware of them going up again!

I got my green card via Calafornia without an interview and now want to travel back to the UK, I obviously didn't receive the stamp in my passport, so is there anything else I need to do at all other than take my passport and Green Card with me?

Got the e-mail yesterday from the CSC that my petition approved and that the welcome letter has been sent and Card has been requested. Its almost two years now since we filed in Atlanta and 2 RFE's from the CSC, both for things we'd already supplied, but thats neither here nor there now.

Little bit of advice for people, make sure you keep contacting CSC via e-mail, I didn't know until I e-mailed that if you get an RFE or Fingerprints run out your petition maybe filed. Mine was but I contacted them by e-mail about 10 days after my new fingerprint appointment and they told me the file would be requested from the file room and reworked and a decision would be forthcoming within 60 days. Actually it was less than 30 so that was good.

Anyway goodluck to everyone still waiting and I'll still be back from time to time just to see whats going on and to let you know which card I get! Thanks to everyone thats been such a help through this long drawn out process.
