Hey ya'll! I'm wondering if anyone can help us this busy tax season.

I entered the U.S in early February and thought that since tax year is over my husband will pay his taxes as per usual and I have already paid mine back home and nowhere where we informed that we'd need to file jointly...UNTILL MY HUBBY STARTED TO DO HIS TAXES! So my questions is: how on earth do we do this? Thoughts, comments, ideas, encouragement?

just a heads up... first congrats!!!! second they asked my husband alot of questions he even said to them "ohhh another interview I thought i only needed one" they said it was their job. Just be ready to be patient don't forget the brown envelope is your POE your final destination?

Thank! POE is in my final destination, I figured that it would be the wisest thing to do, and I got my brown envelope and I all my other ####### I mean stuff in my carry-on. I've read some though reviews on Seattle lately, but I suppose I won't mind since I never really had that 1st interview I hope they won't be too mean. sure it's their job and all, but they don't have to be rude about it either.

All the same I'm just so excited! I'm going home to my sweetie!

So I have a question:

Does anyone know how long they can take issuing the visa after the interview?

I've had my passport stuck at the embassy for 14 days now, and they keep telling me that the consul is too busy to issue the visa and that the visa is not done yet.

The actual visa interview went fine, except that it seemed like the guy wasn't that interested, he didn't want any additional papers, or to see any evidence I brought. He just asked me a bunch of mundane questions and that was it.

Thoughts, guesses, insights would be mightily appreciated.

update: my husband got his visa today

Sweet! I bet that's a load off your mind, eh? I just want it all to be done, so that they can ask for no more paperwork. Except I guess when they ask for more paperwork

It might help to write to your congressman's office. Let them know how long it has been taking. Of course she won't be home for Christmas (I know how you feel ), but it's worht a shot.

you got it... i will stay for anyone that needs me... made it through NVC i hope to help all those too. I talked to my husband about staying on after he gets here to help others. He agreed it would be a good thing so...... this thread isn't going anyhwere... perhaps if we're lucky may 2009 group will pick it up too

sigh...there's always more paperwork ahead. but at least we have this great paperwork support group to help us get through it, called visajourney.

seriously, when ever I feel bummed out about the damn visa, I come here for a spell to feel less alone. it's great.

Right now personally I've been stuck at NVC for 3 weeks. I've given up hope to make it home for Christmas. It's really depressing to be so close and yet...

Yeah... a girl married a moroccan last month started their journey and we just found out he passed away this weekend. It's heart breaking he was so young and she so far there is nothing that can be done..... Started freaking me out again. Called my husband just to hear his voice I told him and he was calm as usual I love him so much.......

That's just unbearably sad. Even if your loved one isn't in an country having some instability and military action, or anything, you still sometimes worry about the awful things that might happen to them. It's so heart-breaking to even think about, that I can't begin to comprehend what it might feel like. So cmnb I'm pretty sure everyone would be nothing but happy if you guys got expedited processing.

Rajaa, don't loose hope, who knows, maybe there's someone picking up your petition right now, going over it, stamping it and putting that NOA2 in the mail.

that's tears of joy!!! oh my gosh!!! i don't even know what the USCIS website says but last i checked yesterday afternoon, it said PENDING!!! they were just playing with me! then this morning, when i got home, there was the letter from USCIS.. and i knew it had to be my NOA2!!!!

I dare say it 's been a good week for us lot, eh? I think we can say with some certainty that they're definitely processing us guyses. :star:

All Right this is what I have been thinking about since that touch on 21st and this recent approval of a may fellow filer:

Nightsurf's NOA1 dates to May 8th and Snorkies' May 10th ----- both CR1 filers at CSC. Their petition was sent in the last week of April and first week of May. Considering these dates and taking some help from my Imagination, could it be possible that the CSC has actually started working on May filers and our time will come soon too?

I totally think they have started processing us guys! I was freaking out because you know, no touches, no nothing, and just as I'd noticed that Nightsurf had gotten theirs and gone "maybe that means something", we got ours. The dates the petitions were filed are just too close for it to be a co-incidence. So let's watch those who are next in line and hope for the very best .

Oh and hope the NVC is feeling productive

I feel really bad for not checking out this thread for ages. I've been mad busy. Plus trying hard not to think about visa stuff until we heard something, 'cos it was makin' me blue. BUT NOW WE HEARD SOMETHING! :dance: Just yesterday our I-130 got approved and we couldn't be happier. It 75 days, that's pretty fast don't cha think, what with the stuff that's been goin' on?

Hope everyone else is doing good, with their jobs, babies and hey, those pesky visa applications and status adjustments.

Oh and to answer Sanna's question, I'm a Helsinki girl myself, though grew up in Kuopio, but I was born in our fine Capital.

Sillä oli vaan photot ja vihkitodistukset ja sormuskuitteja. Paitsi hahah luin et miten paljon sä olit maksanut sormuksista ja meidän saldo ei oo yhtään niin vakuuttava. Muutenkin toi Sannan sulle jakama info todisteista helpottaa mun kansion kokoomista.

Me olla molemmat aikamoisia huithapeleita ja taivaanrannan maalareita että olen aika hermot verillä että miten tässä käy...Uusimmat kauhun aiheet tulivat kun hengailin tuolla yleisillä K-3 foorumeilla ja huomasin että ilmeisesti kukaan ei oo semmosta saanu puoleen vuoteen koska USCIS aikoo ehkä lopettaa koko viisumin, mut ei ole vielä virallisesti ilmoittanut asiasta! Me oltiin ajateltu hakea sitä ja sitten tilapäistä työlupaa kunnes AOS ois tullut läpi koska me aateltiin että sitten saadaan olla yhdessä ja mennä naimisiin suomessa. Mut hitot.

Eli nyt ollaan pakostakin hakemassa tota CR-1stä. Ja siitä sitten uusin kauhunaihe johon en löytänyt vastausta tuolta. (Sori et mä koko ajan kyselen kaikkee varmaan ihan tyhmiä) Miten te todistitte vaimon kanssa että teillä on "bonafide marriage" kun kaikkiin noihiin todisteisiin vaadittais että asutaan saman katon alla ja siksihän sitä viisumia ollaan hakemassa!?! Aikamoinen catch-22.

Ja onneks olkoon, kun teille tulee vauva! Siitähän tässä kaikessa on lopulta kysymys. Tietty asiaa auttais jos sais joskus asua saman katon alla. Meidän kavereista melkein kaikki on synnyttäny kätilön kanssa ja viel kotona, kun me asutaan semmosella ihme hippisaarella (tai siis mies asuu nyt ja sormet ristissä ehkä mäkin joskus), ja hyvin ne on menneet kaikki. Kuulemma tulee nätimpiä vauvoja kun saavat syntyä rauhakseen. Onnee, vauvat on parasta maailmassa (in my humble opinion).

Kyllä toi työhommakin varmasti järjestyy, koska vaikka se tuntuu nyt tosi turhauttavalta, niin se on usein silleen että toiseen maan työnhakukulttuurin oppii hakemalla. Se on suomalaisille vaikeeta kun pitäis kauheesti kehua itteään yms. Huomasin kun muutin Englantiin. Alkuun tuli pelkkää ei oota, mut kun homman oppi oli valinnan varaakin. Häntä pystyyn, unelmien työpaikat odottaa varmasti!

Kiitos vinkeistä ! Ja vakuutteluista. Aattelin ottaa mahdollisimman monet Suomen päässä kun me asutaan niin maalla (saarella) tuolla Ameriikois ettei siel oo ees oikeeta sairaalaa. Piikin alle käy tie. Sekin viel ja tää on vasta alkua. Yäk. Miten muuten ootte sinne kotiuduttuanne hoitaneet noi sairasvakuutus-hommat? Se on mul ainakin yks juttu mikä ahdistaa, kun on tämmönen Suomen terveydenhuollon hellimä, et mites sitten kun se ei okkaan automaattista että sairaalas saa hoitoo...

Suomessa paistaa kevät aurinko, toivottavasti myös siellä (eli ylt ympäri Amerikan mannerta )
