  1. six weeks today since my N400 interview without any news....... I feel for all the VJers out there waiting in limbo

Sharky contact your Congressman/woman -- if you have travel plans you can get your oath expedited. Also Congressman/woman can make a request with USCIS to get it scheduled. From my recollection, there is no criteria for expedited oath ceremony [according to the Adjudicator's Manual] -- as long as it is reasonable. Either way, 120 days is the Statutory Law -- whereby if 120 lapse, you can petition the court to grant you Naturalization. Hope this helps!

  2. Hi all,

I took my test last week (Tues, Oct 25th) and I passed/I got the form with the box saying "congratulations...you've been approved" and I saw the IO stamp a big "approved" on the file...but when I check my case status update on the USCIS site, it shows that I'm still on "interview" stage...very frustrating!

How long does it take normally for them to update the case status?

For those folks who already have their oath date, would love to know, when you got your oath date letter (how many weeks after the interview)?

    Thanks!

I'm in the same boat as you Cardamom. I was issued a N-652 with approved on it. But my case status update is still in the interview stage. I was going to message you to see if you got any updates on it. Would love for anyone to shed some light here :)

Also Cardamom did they make you sign your photographs? I never did.

  3. Hi all,

Just a quick overview - I went for my citizenship/naturalization test/interview today. My IO was very kind and instructed me not to be nervous. We went through the basic prelims (acknowledging what I'd written in my application, and then had a quick test - six questions, 1 line read, 1 line written out. And then I was approved. I'm now awaiting my citizenship oath date/letter.

One thing that LA folk should note (if you have your interview at 300 North Los Angeles St), is that the security line to get into the building took me about 15 mins, so that I ended up reaching my room only 15 mins before my scheduled time. If you don't have your cell phone, you can get processed through security much more quickly.

Lastly, though I did not need them in the end, I took the copy of my application and all my original docs (incl marriage cert, my hubby's birth cert, etc etc). I only had to show my Perm Res card and my govt issued ID (state ID/driver's license)

    I was asked six questions:

    1. What did the Declaration of Independence do? (I answered: Declared our Independence from Great Britain)

    2. Name one branch of government (I answered: Congress)

    3. We elect a U.S. Senator for how many years (I answered: 6)

    4. If both the President and Vice President can no longer serve, who becomes President? (I answered: the Speaker of the House)

    5. How many justices are on the Supreme Court? (I answered: 9)

    6. THINK: What is the capital of your state or it could have been What is the capital of the United States (sorry - can't remember which one but def about capitals).

Hope this helps. BTW, the IO asked the questions from a piece of paper and then hand wrote the answers down, before ticking the correct box. They then staple this paper and the two other test papers (the one asking you to write a sentence in English, the other asking you to read a sentence in English out loud) and put them in your file.

    Good luck!

So I had my interview today. I was asked the same exact questions except the last one which was: what does the president's cabinet do?

He asked me if my application was correct and made my fill out the forms for a Name Change (as I am changing my name). Then he said congratulations I passed the test and have been recommended for approval. I asked what happens next, and he responded with: My supervisor will review the file to ensure its accuracy; then the oath can take 30-60 days. He gave me a form which he selected BOX A (which says you passed the test and recommended for approval).

Hope Oath is not to far away!

BTW the Security line took 30 mins for me.

  4. Congratulations Converse 34!! Happy the process is over for you - and great to hear about the ceremony.

BTW, did you apply for your passport before the oath ceremony?

Sat my citizenship test/interview today and all went well - I received and "approved" stamp and now have to wait for the oath letter/date in the mail! Good luck all other July filers!

Cardamom could you share your experience with the LA office. I have my interview Monday.

  5. the guy took my I-94 and told us we're approved. didn't give us a letter or anything. and said we'll get the card in the mail in 3-4 weeks. we have no proof that we are approved or that we even showed up for the interview.

Frustrated, did it shop up online? CRIS Sent me an email saying Card Production Ordered. The letter was generic as possible be. IT's like a photocopy and they just write your name on it. I can scan it if anyone wants to see it.

  6. Went for an InfoPass in Los Angeles on Friday, my appointment was for 8:15 and never got my number called until 11:30ish.

I went regarding my AOS with NOA date 10/1/2007 after waiting there that time when I finally get to speak to somebody they tell me that they have no information it is still in the National Benefits Center and not to expect anything until after the election as they have all been pulled to do Nationalisation cases.

Applied to renew my work permit and guess I just have to wait......sucks though when you see people who apply 6 months later get their interview :-( Im not hating on those people just wish ours would come too

Time to call congressman. Thats a generic answer they gave me, congressman can really help!

  7. Hi All,

I received my interview letter. Inside also came a white paper that says: Notice to Applicant if you have ever been arrested or detained by any law enforcement officer for any reason, you must bring the following to your adjustment of status interview.

Has anyone else received this? I don't have a criminal record or any involvement with the law. Is this Generic letter or something specific to me?

  8. Hi VJers

I am awaiting my AOS. I got my AP now, and I want to travel to Canada to see my family for a wedding. I was a F-1 Student in Status, now awaiting AOS. I read on the AP document that this does not Guarantee you entrance into the united states? What is meant by that? How can they not let you back in, or under what circumstances.

  9. Wendy,

I made an infopass three weeks ago. When I went there the IO told me that in missouri they are running behind on cases of RFEs. There are like a bunch of people that are on vacation and some on sick leave. He told me that the AOS division had 40 employees 30 of which are taking mandatory vacation and 2 that are on sick leave. So a total of 8 people are working on the case. But I think he was just bs'ing to get us out of there. 30 people can't go on vacation all at once.

    we got another problem here

in the early Feb, we got a RFE about asking us to send most recent tax document.

We sent the RFE back with tax doc and pay stubs..

Howevery today, We got and SAME REF again in April!!!!!

    Whats going on????

    1/7 package sent

    1/9 received

    1/11 check cashed

    1/15 NOAs

1/19 biometric appointment letter (date:1/30 Wednesday 2:00 in the afternoon)

    1/30 biometrics done

    2/7 REF

    2/9 REF replied

    2/11 REF received at Lee's

    4/2 EAD card production ordered
