  1. We called USCIS a month ago because we were outside normal processing times and received a notification in the mail that we should receive a response/action on our application within 60 days. 30 days down, 30 more to go. I hope the VSC gets their act together and we don't have to call back and/or get our congressman involved. We are now past 9 months since our application was sent in and the delay is irritating.

  2. It has been 8 months since submitting our I-751 to remove conditions on my husband's green card. The NOA and biometics occurred relatively quickly (4-6 weeks after submission), but there has been no news from USCIS. How much longer should we wait before contacting USCIS about our case status? The VSC is handling our application, which I know processes applications much slower.

  3. OK...after 4 days of no mail delivery, the postman finally made an appearance (I was about to send my husband to the post office today if they did not appear). Apparantly our wasp nest was cleared out Friday but for some reason the mailman did not return until today. Of course we received our biometrics appointment notice for February 8th at 10 a.m. I would greatly appreciate if someone can update. Thanks!

  4. Hello Folks,

I am going through AOS.If we gonna have AOS interview what questions we can expect.if they will ask us the proof of living together.

what can we show to them.cuz i dont have SSN everything is on my wife name who is american citizen.

    Thanks for all your help.

The list on the AOS interview letter tells what you should have as evidence. You need to have a lot of pictures of both of you before and after marriage; joint lease. joint bank account, joint utilities, joint taxes. joint health insurance, will, pension etc.

how can i have joint stuff with her.cuz i dont have SSN.cannot open bank account.no credit no job.

You should be able to apply for SSN. We did so for the sole purpose of being able to add my husband to my various financial accounts.

  5. Hi everyone,

Aidan and I were approved for his green card this morning at our interview. The officer was very pleasant and asked the usual questions, how did we meet? where do you live?, etc. We showed him originals of our birth certificates, marriage certificate, various photos of us (some of which he put into our file). He asked for proof of Aidan's residence (where he was living), so I gave him a copy of our bank statement which had both our names on it. Overall it went very smoothly. We asked for an I-551 and the officer said they don't give those at that service center.

He had us keep the EAD and AP so Aidan can use until he receives his GC. This was the only unusual thing about the process since I have read from other posters that these documents are confiscated at the interview. All seems well and we are happy to have one more step of the process complete.

    Good luck to everyone else!

Itsy - we filed a joint return reporting Aidan's income from Ireland. We took the foreign earned income exclusion - Form 2555 I think (TurboTax calculates it for you) which excluded all of his income from U.S. tax (about $42K). We are now working on getting taxes he paid in Ireland refunded now.

  6. Oneil's Wife876, Brit Abroad, my congratulations!!!!! Thank you for your reviews!

Good luck to Smashrox on Friday!

    Brit Abroad :time:

Thanks a million Diazy! I have been MIA for the past week stuck at work with tax season. Ironically enough Aidan was approved for his EAD on St. Patricks Day (how's that for an Irish man?) and received on 3/22. I know we'll be turning over the AP and EAD tomorrow at our interview so it kinda sucks we went through the work to get them and won't even need them. I can't complain though since our interview date was set much sooner than I had ever anticipated.

I will be sure to post a full review of our experience tomorrow!

  7. As to interview... Do we need US passport? Or will we be fine with US birth certificate?

Because we are thinking if we need to apply for passport?

I was thinking the same thing because I recently had my new name put on a new passport (requiring me to send the original back). Although when you think about it, you don't need a passport to prove your U.S. citizenship (a birth certificate should get the job done there).

Anyways, it only took about 2 weeks to get my passport back with my new name. I am not sure of the processing times for a new passport but I was pleasantly surprised to get mine back so soon. Makes you wonder if USCIS could pick up the pace.

  8. Hi everyone....We received an interview appointment notice for March 27th. I wasn't really expecting anything since our online case status hadn't changed in over a month since we had the Biometrics. I am a little surprised since we are adjusting status from K-1 visa and it seemed to me in reading other posts that a lot of times if you came over on a K-1, you would get to bypass the interview. So much for that wishful thinking!
