Hope you will hear something very soon. Best of luck to you
Where did you have your interview at?
Thank you Kathryn41 sooo much !! May be because it was late in the day - they couldn't get a supervisor, or may be he/she might be on vacation. This office is not busy - usually does oath same day. I have already made an info pass appt for 2 weeks after the interview. I check the case status everyday online and it shows the case in interview/testing phase - not the decision one. I will let you know of any updates.

He just went over my application. Kept flipping papers in my file, asked when I had entered the country and that if I was ever a student. And I said I've always been one. He did mention that I got my conditions removed. When we were walking out - he said he did everything, and that someone else has to look over the file to verify everything - and that because it was marriage related it needs to be looked over by another set of eyes. I asked him how soon will I be able to find out, is it possible to hear back within a week, and he said no way since the file will sit some where ( i dont remember where) for a week or so.
God help me ...
It'll be helpful if you provide your timeline... did you apply based on marriage or as a 5 year LPR ? I'm a little confused
-
Did the IO explain why the additional interview is needed for ? anything during the interview that went wrong or you felt that the IO was placing emphasis on ?
I am assuming you're filing based on the 5 year as LPR since your conditions were removed based on good faith marriage.
Did the IO asked for any evidence that you did not have with you during the interview or question anything else specifically ?
Well my citizenship interview went well, passed the test, and the guy gave me a sheet of paper that says I am being recommended for Citizenship. But then he also said that my file needs to go for additional interview and I should hear something by 3 weeks. I checked on the website - and the status is still stuck on interview and testing. In this office, usually oaths are same day - my appointment was around 2pm, so may be it was after cut off time, but I got suspicious.
Now I don't know which black hole I am stuck in. Any ideas what that means ? I did get my conditions removed based on good faith marriage - and I am married again to a foreign spouse and I am getting ready to petition 130. He did ask for marriage certificate for current marriage. I really wan to go see her, and I don't know if I should travel before I hear something or not ?
Other then that- I have no other issues - very legal and smooth sailing, since I entered in the US as a F-1.
Not sure if I should make an info pass appointment for exactly 3 weeks from now. I am not sleeping at all these days - anyone else gone thru something similar ? Please share your experience.
Thanks

You can get an account transcripts with the amended tax info. Call the IRS and tell them that you amended your tax return for that specific year and that the additional info aren't captured in the transcripts you received. This happened to me and I was able to get a new transcripts with the amended tax info. Best of luck

Thanks everyone. I'm well aware of the requirement of filing your taxes every year. I just couldn't find my tax return for 2005 and didn't want to pay 60 bucks just to get a copy of it if USCIS isn't going to be looking at it. I think IRS could only send transcripts for last three years only if I'm not mistaken
WALI,
Thanks for you response, do you recall from your IL or the yellow paper they normally send, if they specify the # of years for the tax returns to bring to the interview?
Thanks

Hi Everyone,
I am currently awaiting my interview letter and I am just wondering how many tax years USCIS normally ask to bring to the interview for those who received their letter based on the 5 year option. I looked at the guide and its not mentioned anywhere as far as I could tell unless I missed that
another question, I am so busy with work that I couldn't file my taxes for 2009. I know, today is April 15 ...the deadline!!! but I did file for an extension and I guess my question is if I go to the interview before I file, is this going to add any complication to my application
Thanks
-
I would file under the 5 yr option if I were you in order not to deal with all the documentations and questions if filing based on marriage.
Why make it harder on yourself... that's my 2 cents.
good luck!!

Congrats and good luck to her in her new journey as USC

I'm assuming your filing under 3 yrs with marriage. correct ?
I actually did the same thing you did. I only sent in the application, pictures, copy of GC, and fee.I plan to bring with me to the interview:
Drivers license, Green card, Tax returns from the past 3yrs, copy of wife's Birth certificate, copy of marriage certificate, and that's it.
That's all that's listed in the guide to naturalization, I'm bringing nothing more, nothing less.
Thanks
-
Congrats... did you apply based on 3 or 5 yrs of GC?

Hello Folks,
I'm just wondering what documents USCIS usually request to bring with you on the interview day if you file based on 5 yrs.
I only sent in 2 pics and copies of my CG along with the check and have no idea what they are going to ask me to bring to the interview.
I am just thinking a head so I can start gathering the doc's if needed to
Thanks

Wow, this is February already, wife would be eligible to file next month under the five year. But we did that about two years ago. Was thinking about that this last weekend, finished my taxes early this year and was trying to find a spot in my filing cabinets where I ran across that extra one thick pile of marriage evidence I made in he event they would have lost our application. Said I don't need this anymore, but just couldn't pitch it, was way too much work. Maybe next year. It did buy us two stress free years of her not having to carry that green card, and was a heck of a lot easier for her coming back with a US passport. But outside of that, not much else has changed by applying early.
Go ahead and apply and forget about marriage.
Thanks sunny808 and NickD for your advice on this!!!
I am finishing up with my application and I'll be sending that in tomorrow
that being said and since I am applying under the 5 yr, I am sending along with my application
1) 2 passport photos
2) copies of my GC front and back
3) check for $675
please let me know if I am missing anything before I send it in
NickD... I know exactly the pain you went thru on all the paper work for this. I had to submit my evidence packet twice because they lost all the stuff I sent them back in 2002 and I had to do it all over again ..ugh!!!

If you apply as a 5-year permanent resident, you do not need to be concerned about your separation so long are there no issues of good moral character within the 5 year period prior to your application.
I think I am good as far as Moral character!! No Problem there. my only concern is that we still didn't file officially for separation but we pretty much were physically separated in the last 12 months so no tax return or lease agreement..etc.... it seems after looking at the the Guide, unless I am misunderstanding, I am still required to submit these documentation as long am applying on the basis of marriage.
Please advise!!

I have a question for anyone who can answer. I had my CG back in 2003 and never got a chance to apply to be a US citizen. I am married to an American citizen, and we are getting separated this year as things didn't work out between us. should I apply now or wait till my separation period is over?
would this cause me any trouble if I file now ?
Thanks in advance

I am just wondering what kind of questions they ask during interviews. I just got my 10 yrs GC and I am in the process of applying to naturalization. just wondering !! I appreciate it !!

My I-751 has been pending since 04/2006. My GC expired on 05/05 and I am still waiting for the final decision. My question here is am I eligible to apply for Naturalization since its been almost 5 years since I got my PR back in 2003( even though i am still married to U.S Citizen) or I have to wait for my I-751 before actually applying? I don't Know what to do anymore. Please help.... One last question, I just got my passport stamped with i-551 but I never updated my SS card to take out the valid for employment with DHS permit before my GC expired, can I still go and get a new card without the restriction with the I-551 stamp with out any hassle or they are going to give me hard time ? I appreciate the help
is anyone else having issues with my case link today ?
