  1. Thanks to all of you so much who replied and helped. Its good to know that we can get that done here at the county health board. I will be sure and get those photos as well. Take care to all.

-$1010 fee includes AOS, EAD (optional), and AP (optional).

-2 photos each for AOS, EAD, and AP (No photos for form 325, that's for k-1 petition)

-make sure you include supporting documents for each form, even if you have to repeat them (you need copies of front/back I-94 for all forms). Even though you send them together, they are separate applications.

-if medical done within 1 year, take the VACCINATION WORKSHEET, and go to USCIS approved "civil surgeon" and have them just copy the information from the worksheet to the I-693 (section 2 vaccinations and have them sign part 5). That's it.

Keep in mind, most civil surgeons will try to convince you that you need a full medical, bloodwork, etc etc again. They are just trying to make more money off you. Don't listen to them. The I-693 instructions CLEARLY say that k-1 visa holders do not need a full exam if done within 1 year.

  2. Thank you for the information about the filing fee and passport photos. I am still uncertain about the medical form. she had her exam done while still in Germany, and she is here is Ohio now. So how can we get the required documentation at this point? Are they maybe certain doctors that we could go to with her shot record or something of that nature? Thanks again!

    Zeb

    Note :

On the new I693, you will see that K1 folks do not need to have a full medical again

    BUT

most of the doctors will want to conduct a full medical all over again (and charge you for it)

call all doctors in your area and ask for the price of extra vaccine if needed... price have a crazy range (For a full medical i found from 99 to almost 400)

  3. Hi everybody,

Last time that I was having problems and posted my questions, I recieved a lot of help from everyone on these forums, so I am hoping that you all can help me again!!!

My fiance arrived 2 weeks ago, just in time for our wedding on August 9th. Needless to say, we are both ecstatic! but of course, now we have to worry about getting our Adjustment of status packet in order, and I am running into a few things that are not clear. If you can help, please don;t hesitate to reply.

First, we are filing for the EAD with our I-485. It says something about including passport style photos weith that application. Are these in addition to the 2 photos that are to be sent with the G-325A packet, or will that cover it? also, is there a seperate filing fee for any of the documents that are part of the AOS packet, or does $1,010 cover everything?

Secondly, as far as the form I-693A goes, my fiance was not given that form at her medical screening in Germany. Is there any way to get that here in Ohio because that is the one thing that is in the required documents list that we absolutley do not have!!!!

Finally, we were wondering what the fastest way to get a certified copy of our marriage certificate would be and also if a translation of a birth certificate into English by a Ph.D. head of modern languages at a community college will suffice for USCIS?

Any input would be greatly appriciated, and I thank you for your time.

    Zeb

P.S. Does anyone have any idea how long the advance parole will take to process. My fiancee was hoping to return home for Christmas to visit her family, and we are concerned that it may not be processed in time, as she cannot leave the country and re-enter without it. Thanks again.

  4. Yes I was beginning to lose hope, but this is a good step and I am quite happy!

Congrats! and now you can join the rest of us in the August and September filers NOA2 to NVC thread for your next journey lol

Congrats, wow that took a long time for you.

Ok...hey I was wondering, where do you get the timeline thing at?

Congrats! and now you can join the rest of us in the August and September filers NOA2 to NVC thread for your next journey lol
  5. There is still hope! I recieved an email from USCIS today stating that they mailed the approval letter for my I-129F yesterday!!! I filed at the California Service Center. My filing date was September 12, 2007, so it looks like they are running at about 163 days if you mailed around that time. Just wanted to share the good news with everyone...I have booked the wedding for August 9th, so as long as there are no hiccups after this, we should be looking good! Good luck everyone!

    Zeb

  6. Well I guess at this point I just have to hope for the best and stay optimistic. I'm sure it will work out, and if not we will find a way to make it ok in the end. Thanks again for the support and info!

Im not saying not to worry but not saying to worry, just saying, this process can and has taken longer than 6 months, no ones case is the same and no one here can tell you not to worry after putting down a deposit on a weeding and ppl already purchasing plane tickets. Anything can happen to prolong the approval and then you have a paid for wedding with no bride yet and inlaws with tickets and no event to go to.

I do hope it dont happen that way, but ive seen it way to often on VJ happen just that way.

    Good Luck

  7. Ok thanks all for the responses. It should not be a problem for me to find a co-sponser, as both of parents are gainfully employed and relatively finacially stable. I am also financially stable, but I just think that I would have difficulty proving it to the government due to the lack of actual "income". Take care, and good luck to all of you!

    Zeb

    Hi again,

I had another question come to mind that I wanted to pose to the forum....I am a college student, with minimal income. I do have quite a bit in assests saved, however since I a full-time student, I have no real "income". I know that there is a responsibility to show proof of financial ability to support you fiance. Does anyone think that this could be an issue?

Also, my fiance wants to study here in America as soon as possible after the wedding. Does anyone know the specifics about when she would become a "resident" for financial aid purposes?

    Thanks again!

    Zeb

    HI1

if you cannot provide any proof aof support you need to name a sponsor(this could be your mother for example!), otherwise, you may have troubles at the conulate!

    Sorry!

    Good luck!

  8. Thanks so much to all of you who replied to my post. That is conforting that my situation is not that uncommon and that most of you think that I have allowed sufficient time when planning the wedding. It is enough to keep me up at night though, thinking of the "worst-case scenarios". lol

Just a quick question about having a "non-legal" marriage in case the visa is not approved in time. Isnt there a reg that says that the fiance cannot come to the States, even for a visit, while the application is still being processed? If so, how would it be possible to get her here to have that sort of ceremony? Also, would she have to leave the country again to go back to Germany and do the interview afterwards? Thanks again for all of your help!

    Zeb

If, by some chance, it doesn't happen and time, and you have a non-legal ceremony, your guests probably wouldn't be any the wiser. Only the ones I told knew that. We even still went off to the side afterwords to sign something. In this case, it was a little thing the reverend typed up himself stating that we know that what he performed wasn't legal, etc., in order to protect his own behind. Plus, we then had proof that we weren't married at that ceremony if it ever comes into question.
  9. Hi again,

  10. Hi to all,

This is my first post on VJ, although far from my first visit to the site. This site has been a wonderful help with getting started down the long road to a visa! Let me begin by telling you where I stand:

I sent in my I-129F to the California SC on September 5, 2007, and recieved my I-797 on September 31, 2007. It has a recieved date of September 12, 2007. That is it......

I am beginning to worry because I have heard absolutely nothing from USCIS about my case, and when I have called the Customer Service all they tell me is the information that is on my I-797. They say that they have no more information, and refuse to give an estimated date that my case will be reviewed.

We are planning to have our wedding on Aug 9th. I have already put the down payment on the service and her family has already purchased airfare to come to the wedding. Have I made a mistake? I read that most visas are issued within 8 months of the initial filing, which would have us legal to be married by May if true. I cant help but constantly worry that it is all going to fall apart somehow because of some beauracratic error or lost paperwork.....I am at my wits end!

From anyone who has been through this already, particularly with a German, any insight or commentary would be greatly appriciated.

Also, when I read the logs that people often post with their comments on this board, often I see the word "touched" or "case touched" by one of the dates. Can someone please tell me what that means exactley? Hey, I'm new to the game! lol

    Thanks in advance,

    Zeb
