  1. Hi everyone,

I apologize, this inquiry is probably redundant with previous posts; I just could not find anything too specific.

My interview is next week. I'm studying for the Civic test, and not too concerned about it.

What I need to bring on the interview day is really what isn't clear.

A little background - I was married to a US citizen 2008-2011, obtained my GC; we unfortunately divorced, and I am not applying for US citizenship because I have been here over 6 years...

After sending my N400 and going to the fingerprints appt, I did receive a yellow letter asking to bring additional documents to the interview: State ID, passport, any travel docs, and other important docs.

    - Travels outside of the country: Got all the stamps on my passport. I have never spend more than 1 month outside of the country over the past 5 years; just vacation really and visit my family in France. Do I need to find all the receipts for plane tickets for the past 5 years? Do I need to compile a list of all countries visited and duration? It'd be good to know, because I really don't remember and it'd take some time...

    - My physical addresses: Do I need to provide again a list of where I lived with dates? Would they ask for proof?

    - Docs related to my situation back years ago: Marriage certificate, divorce decree, etc. Do they need all of that with me? I did divorce prior to getting my permanent GC, so that is something I had to provide in the past.

I am just not sure what "other important docs" might refer to, and I certainly do not want to forget anything on the interview day.

So, please any insight would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks in advance.

  2. Thanks all. I'll think about my options. It does not look like there will be a same day oath, although I can't know for sure. The letter mentions the interview - quiz on US history and english test/writing/oral - for about 2 hours. I'll see if my job is flexible even to let me do this.

If the oath isn't the same day as the interview, I assume they will schedule something at a later date. Is that the only next step after the interview? I would then be quite reluctant to fly to Denver just for that, and am likely to update my address right after the interview if I decide to take it here. Anyone sees a problem with changing address before the oath?

  3. Hello,

I just received my interview letter, scheduled for Feb. 12th.

I will unfortunately be out of town then. I am actually moving from Denver, CO, to Alaska on the 7th. Just learned about this.

Do I just need to send the letter back to them with an updated address? My concern is that it is specified that any changes in date needs to be sent to the USCIS local office, but when I move North, I won't be attached to CO any longer, and I am wondering if they would forward the mail to the new USCIS office.

    Any insight would help! Thanks.

  4. Hello,

I'm starting to wonder what's going on with my case, and hope you can provide insight. I might be impatient and things are totally normal...

I filled for N400 in early July, got my fingerprint appointment on 8/15, and received a yellow paper shortly after saying I might need to provide specific docs during the interview. Since then, nothing. Should I worry?

    Thanks in advance.

  5. Hello everyone,

I have not been on these forums for a while... Good to be back!

Quick story short: I got married in 2008 and received my conditional CG on 1/29/09. I divorced in November 2010, but received my 10-year CG since then (in February 2011).

Given this, when would I become eligible to apply for US citizenship? Is it still 3 years from 1/29/09, or did that change because of the divorce?

Either way is fine, I am in no rush, but would like to know!

Thanks for your help as always.

    Best,

    F.

  6.

"Your request for the removal of the conditional basis of your permanent resident status has been approved" :)

Date of decision is 02/16... Weird thing is that the letter is printed on a white paper, not on the usual official USCIS paper. Maybe it's because they don't have the fancy stuff at my local office.

Anyway, I have been approved and hopefully will get my green card soon

Yay! All the best for all the people who are still waiting.

  8. merry xmas too. i am not sure about this, but as far as i know, its the employer who will work the papers for your brother . they will have to be the one applying for H1b for your brother. . please double check what ive said on www.uscis.gov.

THat's what I think too, but was hoping to get a bit more details. Thanks for your feedback!

  9. 1. Your letter is still on its way.

    or

    2. Your bio appointment hasn't even scheduled yet.

Both don't help you guys. I know.

My wife's NOA1 date was 11/8/10 but hadn't received the bio letter for more than 30 days.

So she called USCIS on 12/13/10, made a service request for non-delivery,

and received the letter from USCIS on 12/16/10.

    It says...

Our record indicate that your biometrics appointment is pending due to limited capacity at your local Application Support Center (ASC).

We will schedule an appointment for you when a time becomes available at the ASC and mail you an appointment notice.

We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience.

We were quite surprised that USCIS send the status letter that fast (less than a week!!),

but disappointed that it will take quite a while to finish this process.

    Well... what can we do.

If you want to make a service request...

    1. Call USCIS 1-800-375-5283

    2. #1 for English

    3. #2 for filed case

    4. #6 for talking to the representative

    5. You will receive the same letter as ours within a week or you'll receive the bio letter someday.

    Good luck!

Thanks for the tip... My NOA1 date is 11/22 and I am still waiting for the biometrics letter to arrive... I will call USCIS on MOnday!

Thanks again. Not losing hope

    Merry Xmas all.

  10. Hello,

My brother is currently employed by a US company under a J1 in NYC. He started as an intern with them for his master's degree from France and got extended another 6 months. If I don't mistake, the total duration of his J1 is 1 year. From what he told me, he cannot renew the J1 as he graduated and is not student anymore.

His employer in the US would like to keep him, and agreed to cover some of the fees that would be required to get a H1B visa.

Would anyone know what is the procedure to switch from J1 to H1B? How long would it take, what are the first necessary steps??

His J1 expires in March. I am afraid the timing is real short, but I thought I would ask for some advice...

Thanks!!! I would appreciate any feedback!

    Merry Xmas!! (F)

    Faustine
