  1. You have a 2 year green card im sorry you DO NOT RENEW IT.

You remove conditions on it and get a 10 year green card.

You need to go look at the removal conditions guide because you should of been collected evidence spanning 2 years of your marriage to supply for this process.

So what happens when the 10 year green card gets close to expiration? And how much is it to apply for 10 year green card? Thanks

  2. Hi Everyone,

It's been a while since I've been back to Visa Journey. I'm VERY confused and I'm hoping someone can help clarify this for me. So I came to the US on a K1 visa, everything went smooth, I got married, we applied for my AOS. Got my employment authorization, green card. I'm working, life is good, praise the Lord.

HOWEVER... We're planning on visiting Canada in Sept and it just occurred to me, "AM I ABLE TO GO?" Are there any restrictions that I have? Also, My GC expires Feb 2012 so do I need to renew my Green Card? I don't want American citizenship so what actions would I have to take?

    Please help!

    Thank you in advance,

    Cindy

  3. I was married June 21st 2009 and my visa expires July 22 2009. We are sending our package for the AOS this week but what is my deadline to send in the package for AOS. Is it July 22 2009?? Am I in trouble since I've waited?? We just got back from our honeymoon. Please help since I'm a little nervous now. :( Thank you!

    Cindy

you were given 90 days to marry... you met that requirement... no trouble

There is no official deadline to file AOS, but before the I-94 expires is reccomended, if possible

Okay that helps a lot!! Thank you. Is it possible for me to apply for my EAD and apply for my AOS later? My I94 doesnt expire until Sept 04 2009.

you can but it costs $340 and will expire 09/04/09 and take 60-90 days to process, so it is a waste of money and effort. If you apply with AOS then it will be a one year expiration and 60-90 days to process and is free (after teh $1010 AOS payment).

Wow, thank you, I had no idea. So then what we'll do is apply for our AOS in 2 weeks and send our EAD, AP and AOS package with 1010$ payment. How long will it be until I can officially work? And what I dont understand is, when I get a SSN card, will I have a permanent number? When do I get an SSN that doesnt expire? What will I have to do after the one year expiration date? Or is that when I get my green card? Sorry for all the questions, I'm just trying to understand all of this!

  5. I understand that the cost of I-131 is included in the AOS payment of $1010. Am I able to file for an AP when I have nowhere to go? Because the forms ask when my departure date is but what if I'd just like to have the AP incase I want to travel? Am I able to do this or should I just not apply for AP but do I have to pay for it regardless?

You can apply, sure. For date(s) intending to travel you could simply put "Unknown at this time", "Summer/Fall 2009" or something similar.

On the I 131 what do I write under class of admission?

Oh thank you so much!! And one more question about the I-765. Numbers 14-17 are confusing.

    The manner of last entry

    current immigration status

And then the whole eligibity category thing?? What do I write there??

I wanted to put K1 for the first 2 questions but I have no idea what the eligibility category stuff means at all

  7. I just filed our AOS also so this is what you can do:

    1. Where it asks for my last name, can I put my new married last name?

yes you can put your new last name (do you have a proof that you changed it?) its ok you can still put your new last name.

    2. Where is my A# located? it should be on your EAD stamp or white card that they gave at POE to the US. (at least thats where my husband's was

    3. I don't have a SSN number yet, is that okay? its ok you can get it when you get the new EAD card for 2 years

    4. Where it asks me for my previous employment, do I write my jobs in Canada since I haven't worked since I can't work yet? yea put your previous employment in Canada and the dates to worked till and then unemployed for right now.

    hope this helps :/

Completely helps!! Thank you!! I do have this number on my I-94 white card at POE in red numbers. Would that be my A#?

  9. financial as in emplpoyment letter, w2 etc

You are amazing. Thank you so much for your help!!! Congrats to you on your journey!

    Bless your heart :)

I can print out some of the documents, you're correct but what about the original documents that are needed with his signatures? SHould I get him to scan me those and I can come back when I receive the package?

I would, yes - just in case - better that than nothing.

Yes, I'd make sure you have scanned or faxed financial documents. That's what's critical.

  10. I can print out some of the documents, you're correct but what about the original documents that are needed with his signatures? SHould I get him to scan me those and I can come back when I receive the package?

it is an option to go with what you have and be issued a 221(g) for the other documents...

I agree - plus most of what you listed (if he made copies) can be scanned and emailed/faxed to you - (photos, bills, etc, even -at least- a copy of the I-134 (and supporting documents) so you have it. Just to be prepared for a worst-case-scenario..

  11. Okay so our interview is Monday. I have all of my documents I need. I'm waiting for my fiance's affadavit, original documents, birth cert., the RFE we had gotten due to his Birth certificate, photos, cell phone bills etc he has sent me all that] The UPS representative stated we MIGHT get it monday morning which would be fine, but they're already 2 days late so what if I don't get it on time....what could happen? I would be forced to go to the interview with only my half of the package.

I AM SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO UGH...SO MY INTERVIEW IS THIS MONDAY AT 1PM. DUE TO THE STUPID WEATHER CONDITIONS, HIS HALF OF THE PACKAGE HAS BEEN DELAYED FOR 2 WEEKS AND APPARENTLY I'M GETTING IT MONDAY MORNING....BUT WHAT IF I DONT?? WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS? CAN WE RESCHEDULE, OR WHAT WILL HAPPEN???

    THANKS ,

    CINDY

What, exactly, are you waiting for?
